Dear Voter

Vote Patricia Flanders

As a former Island Council Member and Commissioner I will be contesting the upcoming
Parliamentary Election with the Democratic Party (DP) Slate, Candidate #15 on August 29
th
,
2014.
With a lot still to offer and as former Island Council/ Commissioner of Social etc., I recognize
that there are many seniors confronted with social and financial problems that need to be
addressed and solved. Being a senior myself, I know what they are going through, as some of
them cannot depend on their children, because they themselves are faced with their own
challenges. This is one of my many reasons why I have decided to re-enter the political arena.
Give me your confidence and I am prepared to do my utmost in an attempt to bring the
necessary relief needed.
Our Seniors have paved the way, so now is the time for us to give back to them. Young or old,
we are all part of the same mold.
As Founder and President of the Home Away From Home Taking Care of the Golden Age
Foundation, we bring the seniors together three (3) times weekly to socialize and enjoy each
others company. This foundation is now in its eleventh year and I have seen the seniors
transform from one stage to another.
As President of the St. Maarten Seniors and Pensioners Association, we were able to achieve
the increase in pension to Naf 1.000,00. This increase was based on the pensioner living in St.
Maarten from age 15 60 years. The transportation relief program for the seniors was
conducted for a few months last year and should resume shortly to assist the senior. The GEBE
Utilities Relief for Seniors which was recently started was also another achievement for the
Seniors of St. Maarten. These accomplishments were achieved under this present government.
Once I am elected into office, I will continue to champion for an increase in the standard of
living and to minimize poverty by seeking to obtain the minimum wage for seniors.

A comfortable living environment for the seniors is a priority. Seniors should not be living in
studio apartment, unless it is their desire, but rather a 1 or 2 bedroom where moving around
can be more easily accessible.
A policy needs to be in place for The Rights of the Senior as there is a policy for The Rights of
the Child.
Health Care Services will be one of my priories if elected into office as it is also a main concern
of the seniors.
Once elected I will do my utmost to improve, streamline and eliminate as much as possible the
governmental red tape experienced by the seniors.
I am honored and happy to be a Candidate of the Democratic Party under the Leadership of
Mrs. Sarah Wescott- Williams and Board Members. Thank you for accepting me to be a part
RED CAMP and to bring victory to the Party.
This is the first time for General Election that a Candidate is focusing on all the needs of the
seniors of St. Maarten.
Your vote can make a difference.
Sincerely your

Patricia Flanders
