Join Boy and Girl as they journey through the yearning and searching, the romance and fun,

Colourfully created for town centres and market places, this promenade performance lets
you follow either Boy or Girl and then listen into their innermost thoughts through your own
pair of wireless headphones.
Boy Meets Girl explores the highs and lows of falling in love through an exciting mix of silent
disco technology, visual theatre and a sampled soundtrack of love songs.
This 30 minute performance loops with audiences joining the action every 15 minutes! So
come and find our Boy Meets Girl gazebo in each location along at anytime and stay for as
long as you like!

Strangeface are a prestigious mask and puppet theatre company who Transported have
commissioned to create Fen Boy, a story based on Lincolnshires principle themes of
agriculture, horticulture and food processing. Using specially commissioned music, the piece
will be suitable for all the family, will be performed using a haulage trailer as a stage and will
travel from community to community in South Holland and Boston Borough over a period of
five days.

Come along and experience dinghy sailing on the river Witham in Boston. No previous
experience required. Training will be provided by RYA instructors. Buoyancy aids and boats
provided. Please dress appropriate to the weather conditions - wetsuits are advisable as you
may get wet, or bring a change of clothes.
Parents can also join and learn to sail together.

As many of you will know, Minting is a Thankful Village a village where all the men who
fought in WW1 returned. Last year two men from Wales (Medwyn Parry & Dougie Bancroft)
visited all 51 Thankful Villages in England & Wales by motorcycle calling in at Minting on 1

At each village they presented a slate plaque and a certificate with the request that all 51
plaques be unveiled at 11am on Sunday 3

August 2014 - the nearest Sunday to 4th August
which is the accepted start of WW1 as far as the UK was concerned.
The plaque and certificate are to be placed in Minting Village Hall and will be unveiled by
Mrs Mavis Miller and Mr Frank Speake who have family members on both the WW1 & WW2
Rolls of Honour which are in the parish church - St Andrew's.
12pm onwards - Minting, Gautby & District Heritage Society are launching their WW1
Commemoration Project working title from Becks to Battlefields.
The Society aims to gather family WW1 stories and put them into a book that
commemorates all aspects of WWI as experienced by the ancestors of those who live in the

This wonderful Lincoln mill is located on Mill Road, so called due to the nine windmills that
formerly faced west over the steep slopes of the Lincoln Edge.
Ellis Mill is now the sole survivor of these mills and an excellent example of a small tower
mill. The Mill dates from 1798 but there has been a mill on this site from at least the middle
of the 17th century.

Bikes can be hired throughout the day. They are free for the first 30 minutes of every rental
and then 1 per hour. The price is capped at 4.00 for the whole day.
You can hire a bike in three easy steps:
1. Register Online at www.hirebikelincoln.co.uk or call 01522 370 143. Membership is
free, but you will be asked to purchase 5.00 worth of credit before you can hire your
first bike. Funds will be deducted as and when you use the bikes.
2. Unlock Receive a membership number and PIN input this at the hirebike station,
choose a bike and use the keypad to unlock.
3. Hire Get on your bike and off you go! You can return your bike to any of the stations
not just the one you hired from.
We are currently expanding the hirebike scheme with an additional six stations being
installed across Lincoln throughout July. Locations include Brant Road, Newark Road (near
Tiber Road), Burton Waters, Tritton Road and Skellingthorpe Community Centre.
Hirebike is delivered through Access LN6 at Lincolnshire County Council. Access LN6 is a
multi-million pound programme which increases opportunities for sustainable travel. It is
improving opportunities to walk, cycle, use public transport and car share, as well as making
improvements to infrastructure.

A 2 day introduction to jazz performance for all young (11-19yrs) musicians and supported
by 3 leading regional jazz musicians.
Jazzpac is excited to present a FREE short course in small ensemble jazz improvisation.
Topics covered in the workshops include developing soloist style and themes, interpreting
jazz lead sheets, improvising as an ensemble as well as many instrument specific techniques
used in modern jazz performance. Over the course of the two days, a team of professional
jazz musicians affiliated with the Lincoln area, led by Andrew Wood, Martyn Spencer and
Thom Whitworth will work with the participants towards a short performance. The course is
for young people at school/college.

The festival brings together young people from different communities around Lincolnshire
through a common love of sport. The day is a celebration of the skills that young people
have developed while attending their local StreetGames Doorstep Sport Clubs.
Participants have the opportunity to compete against teams from other areas in football,
athletics and dance; as well the chance to try a whole range of taster activities.
Graphic street artist J will also run a popular street art workshop at the festival, helping
participants to customise T-shirts and create a mural on the day.

After last year's very popular event, another Archaeology Day for visitors of all ages. This is
part of the CBA (Council of British Archaeology) Festival of Archaeology and this year it will
be run in conjunction with the Heritage Trust of Lincolnshire.
The children's activities this year include a chance to do a dig (limited places so first come
first served), object handling (again limited places) and a chance to act in or watch a short
play about Ancient Egypt followed by a film about Howard Carter the famous Egyptian
archaeologist aimed at younger viewers. We also hope to have a display of rare books on
Egyptian archaeology from Lincoln Central Library. There will a 1 craft making a replica of a
Norman manor house (all other activities are free).
The Heritage Trust of Lincolnshire will be showcasing their services and activities. Find out
about their latest projects and courses and get your finds identified by their resident
experts. Short lectures on a variety of subjects will be offered throughout the day.
The day will coincide with the opening of our Reconstructing the Past display which consists
of models of lost pieces of Lincolnshire's heritage.

If your children want to go on a bike ride, but you don't have a bike rent one of our orange
hirebikes and get cycling!
More than 800 people have signed up to Lincoln's bike hire scheme hirebike which is a
short-term rental scheme for residents and visitors in Lincoln.
40 bikes available to hire from locations across the city including:

Bikes can be hired throughout the day. They are free for the first 30 minutes of every rental
and then 1 per hour. The price is capped at 4.00 for the whole day.
You can hire a bike in three easy steps:
1. Register Online at www.hirebikelincoln.co.uk or call 01522 370 143. Membership is
free, but you will be asked to purchase 5.00 worth of credit before you can hire your
first bike. Funds will be deducted as and when you use the bikes.
2. Unlock Receive a membership number and PIN input this at the hirebike station,
choose a bike and use the keypad to unlock.
3. Hire Get on your bike and off you go! You can return your bike to any of the stations
not just the one you hired from.
We are currently expanding the hirebike scheme with an additional six stations being
installed across Lincoln throughout July. Locations include Brant Road, Newark Road (near
Tiber Road), Burton Waters, Tritton Road and Skellingthorpe Community Centre.
Hirebike is delivered through Access LN6 at Lincolnshire County Council. Access LN6 is a
multi-million pound programme which increases opportunities for sustainable travel. It is
improving opportunities to walk, cycle, use public transport and car share, as well as making
improvements to infrastructure.

Crowland Abbey is open daily for visitors, with tour guides on duty from 11am-3pm.
Children's trails, suitable for 8-12 year olds and families, are available in the church and the
monastery ruins. There has been a religious settlement in Crowland, dating from a
hermitage established by St Guthlac in 699AD, to what was probably the most powerful
Benedictine Monastery in the C15. It played an important part in the history of the country
in mediaeval times.
Follow the trail. There is no charge although donations are welcome.
Also visit Crowland's unique Trinity Bridge in the centre of this small market town.

record a collection of contemporary village sounds. She will use the sounds to create a
series of audio documentaries that respond to the conversations with local people. The
project will culminate with Tulip Radio broadcasting the documentaries out to listeners all
over the district.

Sunday afternoon with a community picnic and performance, and will include an

This project is designed for young people aged 13 - 19 years in and around the Grantham
area, who may not have the opportunities to attend music lessons or learn new instruments
due to cost, those for whom English is not their first language and would like to improve
their spoken English in a new way, for those who feel isolated in some way or those would
just like to meet other young people with similar interests, have fun and enjoy being
creative with music and related technical media.
On the musical side there will be opportunities to learn instruments, join together to form
groups, bands, attend workshops, song writing and editing, socialise, open mic sessions and
performances.
We would also like to incorporate technical aspects into the project with opportunities to
learn sound, lighting, recording, stage management, filming, video creation and editing,
photography, and advertising. Tuesdays 3.30pm to 6.30pm & Thursdays 7pm to 10pm.
There is no cost for this project however places are limited and are subject to a simple
application process, through this places will be offered on a first come first served basis.

Chill out this summer at The Deep and help us support the Pole to Pole campaign. Learn
about the animals that live at the North and South Poles and some of the threats they face,
including our very own penguins!
See our newest residents swim, waddle and play in their new home in the Kingdome of Ice
as well as finding out about The Deeps efforts to help conserve penguins in the wild.
We have lots of fun activities for the whole family to enjoy including:
Pull the plug pledges make your very own pledge as to how you can reduce your
energy consumption at home and stick it on our pledge board. This could be by
simply unplugging your phone and tablet chargers or switching TV and game
consoles off at the wall instead of leaving them on standby. Lets all think of some
great ideas we can do!
Pole to Pole trail collect your trail sheet from the entrance turnstile and
complete it on your way around the attraction to be in with a chance of winning a
very special cuddly prize! Learn about what animals eat and what may eat them as
you go.
Art and craft corner (Cool Seas entrance) - enjoy fantastic face painting and
choose from a range of designs. Make your own mask and key ring and for all
those budding artists out there, we are also holding a colouring competition with
the chance of winning some artistic goodies from our shop! Pick up your Arctic or
Antarctic colouring sheet, create your own scene and send it back to us to be in
with a chance of winning!
Penguin film - follow our penguins' Trans-Atlantic journey to the UK from Texas
and see how their new home was built in our exciting film (footage supplied by
BBC Inside Out) at 11.30am, 1pm and 3:30pm in the Endless Oceans gallery.

You can also enjoy our amazing dive shows where our trained divers carry out animal
feedings each day at 2pm. Please ask staff for the location of the dive show on your visit.
These feedings take place at locations including Endless Oceans, Amazon Flooded Forest and
the Lagoon tanks throughout the week.

Dont miss our exciting scatter feeds at 12pm, 2pm and 4pm at the Lagoon of Light and our
Discovery Corner touch pool sessions where you can learn more about some of the smaller
species native to the UK including bumpy starfish, velvet swimmer crabs and spikey sea
urchins. You can join in these sessions at 10.30am, 11.30am, 12.30pm, 1.30pm, 2.30pm,
3.30pm and 4.30pm. Please note sessions are subject to change.
