Letter to the Editor
Dear Editor:
We are fairly new subscribers to your publication. We find the articles excellent and
true to .the whole Gospel. When we read of all your kingdom building efforts, we
are saddened that we, our local church, our presbytery, and our denomination are not
a part of these efforts.
Let me quote from our presbytery newsletter and you can see what they are doing
. instead: "The two women's advocacy groups of the Presbyterian Church [USA]
acting jointly and in accordance with the policies established by the General
Assembly, call to the attention of the whole church the fact that the 198th General
Assembly [1986] meeting in Minneapolis; reaffirmed the denomination's pro-choice
position in relation to abortion. In a<klltion, General Assembly did the
following ....... voted to encourage presbyteries to designate one congregation to
serve as a resource for "alternatives to abortion"; decried the terrorism and bombings
of abortion clinics; ..... encouraied churches to participate in "escort services" to
assist tbose wantini to 20 to abortion clinics but fearina . harass went" [underlining
mine].
We personally do not support this position at all, but find very little support for the
scriptural view in our congregation. We seem so alone. We ,Wl want to do the walk
of reconstruction, but how do we start? We get mailings from Geneva Ministries;
American Vision, Rushdoony's Chalcedon, and Gary North's ICE, and have read
many of theii respective reconunended books.
our and without
-- support? There are no local churches whose orientation is any more reformed than
ours.
'
In closing, we.do look forward to your publication and we are grateful for your good
works. We would appceciate any suggestions for rebuilding our church.

care of some housekeeping matters. First, to each of yciu who has sent a check for
$100.00 orntore, or made a pledge for 1987, I am deeply grateful. I apologize for
not .having acknowledged many of these contributions, as yet, beirig busy with
many other matters has delayed my correspondence. Please know that we appreciate
your generous support at)d I will acknowledge your gift personally as soon as
possible.
Secondly, we. still need additional . financial support in order to continue this
ministry. We need at least $10,000.00 above what has already come in during this
calendar year of 1987. If you have not renewed your Council of 451 pledge to
support The Counsel of Chalcedon in an amount of at least $100.00 for the year,
then please do so as soon as possible. We cannot afford to lose supporters like you.
Also, if you have never sent a gift, and have not been a member of The Council of
451, please seriously consider helping us by sending at least $100.00 for 1987. If
