Nanjeer  was one of the pillar of Our Sri Vaishnavism after the period of our Emperumanar.

 In Periya Thirumudivu 
it is mentioned that  Nanjeer was born in Thirunarayanapuram / Melkote in Mel nadu of those days and present 
day  Karnataka .In Aiyram Padi Guruprampara his place of birth is not mentioned, it is said he was residing in a 
place known as Gangorai. In fact one of my well wisher told his birth place is near Shimoga and still his statue is 
there  in  Madhava  Mutt  there  ,  But  let  us  not  get  confussed.  His  year  of  Birth  is  is  also  not  known  .  Nanjeers 
original name was Madhvachariyar , he was expert in veda shastra so he was also known as Vedanthi. He was an 
expert  in  adwaitha  .  Before  our  beloved  Emperumanar  left  for  heavenly  abode  he  called  his  Successor  Parasar 
Bhattar and told him In Mel Nadu there is person known as Vedanthi , please bring him into our fold. This is was 
one  of  the  few  instruction  left  by  Emperumanar  before  he  attained  Paramapadam.  We  all  known  in  Our 
Yathirajar's life he has brought the great Adwatihi of those time Yagyamoorthi in to our fold by defeating him in 
debate  .  He  also  named  him  Arulalaemperumanar.We  presume  due  to  the  old  age  of  Udayavar  he  did  not 
undertake  the  task  of  bringing  Vedanthi  into  our  fold,  hence  he  instructed  Parasa  Bhattar  to  this  task.  As 
instructed by Grand Master Bhattar travelled to Melnadu. He was accompanied by his Shishyas and he travelled 
in Palquin .On seeing this Locals adviced that if you go with pomp and show you cannot meet vedanthi. .Vedanthi 
was a very rich man ,every day he used to feed the people( I presume that Like our Kuresar he was also a wealthy 
man  and  feed  the  poor  people).  So  next  day  Parasara  Bhattar  went  as  simple  person  into  the  Thirumaligai  of 
Vedanthi,All other went to the place where the food was being served, but our Bhattar walked to the place where 
Vedanthi  was  sitting.  On  seeing  Bhattar  coming  towards  him  vedanthi  asked  why  he  is  coming  here,Bhattar 
replied he has come for Bheekasha, Vedanthi told if it is for bheekasha he should go to place where food is being 
served. Then bhattar replied he has not come for that Bheeksha , vedanthi was perplexed and asked if not that 
Bheeksha then what Bheeksha he wants.This was the word Bhattar was waiting for, he immediately told he wants 
Tharka Bheeksha. Then Immediately Vedanthi Asked are you the Parasara Bhattar from srirangam.( Vedanthi and 
Bhattar had heard about each other). Then for nine continous days the debate took place, then on the tenth day 
Vedanthi  Agreed  the  Vaishta  Advaitha  is  the  best  and  he  surrendered  at  the  feet  of  Parasara  Bhattar.  Then 
Bhattar did the Pancha Samaskaram and he returned to Srirangam. 

Vedanthi continued to live in Melkote and served food to the people as usual . Vedanthi had two wifes , once he 
was was not there and both his wifes refused to serve the food to poor Brahmins , when he came to know of this , 
he became very sad and decided to take Sanyasa. . He sold all his property and divided them into three shares, 
two shares he gave it to his two wifes. Then the third one he carried it , so that he can give it to his Guru Bhattar. 
Enroute he met Anandaalwan the disciple of Emperumanar, He chidded him for taking sanyasa.then he blessed 
vedanthi. 

Then  Vedanthi  reached  Srirangam  and  postrated  his  Guru  Bhattar,  On  seeing  Vedanthi  in  Sanayasa  Kollam  , 
Bhattar  told  "  NAM  JEER  VANTHAR  "  and  embressed  him.(  Generally  Vaishnava  Sanyasi's  are  known  as  "JEER"  
From that day Vedanthi was called "NANJEER" 

I am not going further deep about NANJEER’s life  . If any mistake pray excuse. 

Now I take you for a visual treat of this place and it is also the same place where the debate took place between 
him and Parasara Bhattar. But unfortunately it is in shambles and dilapidated condition. I went on 19th October 
2008 , but I understood that a Trust was there and due to some problem the management of the Sannidhi is now 
with  Government,  but  the  abhimanis  have  planned  to  have  the  Sannidhi  rebuilt  and  restore  its  old  glory.  I  was 
told in another 3 / 4  days the Bhoomi Pooja for Restoration work. His Sannidhi needs your attention.
