Program Reach
The potential to
transform lives
Enactus is an international organization that brings together
student, academic and business leaders who are committed to
using the power of entrepreneurial action to enable progress
around the world.
Guided by faculty advisors and business experts, participating
students form teams on their campuses to create and implement
community projects that empower people to improve their
quality of life and standard of living. The experience not only
transforms lives, it helps students develop the kind of talent and
perspective that are essential to becoming efective, values-
driven leaders.
An annual series of regional and national competitions provides a
forum for teams to showcase the impact of their outreach eforts,
and to be evaluated by executives serving as judges. National
champion teams advance to the prestigious World Cup.
In addition to the community aspect of the program, our
leadership and career initiatives create meaningful opportunities
for cross-generational learning and exchange as well as the
placement of students and alumni with companies in search of
emerging talent.
Enactus is more than just another student organization to add on
campus. Participating colleges and universities join a network of
institutions across the United States and around the world as well
as a prestigious roster of executives and companies. Youll have
access to staf assistance, training resources and events, unique
programmatic initiatives and grant opportunities, scholarships,
and competitive events.
Taking Action
Life on Wheels | Steering Rickshaw Drivers to a
Better Future
For many people in India, the rickshaw
provides a low-cost means to navigate
the bustling streets. These human-
pedaled carriages have a long-
standing history, but as the Enactus
team from SRCC learned, this tradition
has a bleak side.
Of the more than 1,500 rickshaw
drivers on the campus, most make only 200 rupees (the equivalent
of $4 USD) each day. The drivers are in a constant struggle to support
their families. Seeing their plight, the Enactus team determined if the
drivers could obtain mall loans (less than $250 each) and set transport
prices, they could own their rickshaws in a matter of months and
maintain more of their incomes. In less than a year, LoW has help
improve a cultural tradition and also enabled 20 rickshaw drivers to
have a better means to make a living.
