The Informatica MDM Multidomain Edition (version 9.5.0) includes several new features as well as
enhancements to existing features to improve performance, operational efficiency, and data governance
capabilities. This document describes the new features, updates, and enhancements to Informatica MDM
Multidomain Edition.

What's New in Informatica MDM Hub
Timeline
Master Data often changes slowly over time, independent of its relationship to other data. Timeline, which is
based on effective dates, provides the ability to define and manage past, current, and future versions of a
record. The timeline capabilities and associated rules are exposed and enforced as part of the MDM batch
processes, SIF APIs, and Informatica Data Director (IDD). In addition to providing visibility into each of the
different versions, it also provides a view of the changes (history) within versions. With this, a customer is
able to see exactly what a version looked like at any point in time, while also having visibility into how a
version has changed over time. Timeline can be enabled for each base object. Relationship objects are
automatically timeline-enabled.
Virtual Unique Keys
All user-defined unique keys are now virtual, that is, they are fully constrained and enforced by the MDM Hub
rather than by the database management system. This improves performance and provides flexibility for the
development of new versions of MDM Multidomain Edition.
Resource Kit
The MDM Resource Kit includes the Jaspersoft reporting tool, PowerCenter Custom Transform for MDM, and
SSA-NAME3 resources. The Jaspersoft reporting tool can be used to develop and execute reports on any
data. The PowerCenter Custom Transform for MDM integrates Informatica PowerCenter with the Informatica
MDM Hub for Oracle, for staging data from landing tables to staging tables. The SSA-NAME3 resources
include the libraries that are required to use the Population Override Manager and the SSA-Name3 Edit
Rules Wizard to customize match population.
Transaction Support for the Tokenize API
In the MDM Multidomain Edition (version 9.5.0), the Tokenize API can be included as part of a transaction. If
a request within a transaction fails, the entire transaction is rolled back.
DBFILTERED MatchType for SearchMatch API
The performance of SearchMatch API calls that are based on match rules that include a fuzzy as well as an
exact search term, where the fuzzy search term is a non-selective key value such as a common first name
like "JOHN" is improved. The new SearchMatch matchType called 'DBFILTERED' is introduced to deal with
such scenarios. If the key value is selective (not common), SearchMatch functions as it does when
matchType is set to 'BOTH'. If the key value is non-selective and is likely to return many records, the search
results are filtered based on the exact search term.

Multithreaded Automerge
You can perform a multithreaded automerge for merge-style base objects, after a match job has been run.
When you run a multithreaded automerge, the MDM Hub divides the records queued for automerge into
chunks that the Hub can process in parallel. Multithreaded Automerge jobs process records that qualify for
an automerge to be merged much faster. Multithreaded automerge is aimed at users running powerful
database servers with very high disk speeds.
Performance Enhancements
The MDM Multidomain Edition (version 9.5.0) includes the following performance enhancements:
Performance Enhancements for Merge and Unmerge
The performance of Merge and Unmerge batch jobs and the Merge, Multimerge, and Unmerge APIs has
been enhanced. The performance enhancement is the result of changes to the way that merge and
unmerge lineage are tracked and the way that foreign keys are tracked at the cross-reference level.
Performance Enhancements for Match Batch
The Match Batch performance is enhanced by the multithreaded sorting of ranges in the Match Batch
job. Also, the changes to reduce retokenization of parent base objects for updated child base objects that
are in the match path but do not contribute match columns, further improves performance.
Performance Enhancements to the Metadata Manager Tool
Performance for adding and removing columns and adding or validating rules has been enhanced by
optimizations made in the Metadata Manager tool.
What's New in Informatica Data Director
Enhanced Task Context
When you open a Task, fields with changes are highlighted and the before and after values are displayed.
This enables users to easily identify the changed fields and what they need to review or approve.
Enhanced Export Support
In releases prior to IDD (version 9.5.0), the ability to export records from Search Results in the IDD was
driven by the search package. IDD (version 9.5.0) allows you to define Export Profiles, and provides more
flexibility to define the attributes and objects that must be exported, including child and grandchild attributes.
Task Approval Routing
A default task type for the Send for Approval action can be defined by Subject Area. This provides the
flexibility to define routing rules for approval tasks by Subject Areas such as customer, product, and location.

Search Enhancements
The following search-related enhancements are available:
Search Results per page
Users can select the number of records (rows) to display in Search Results for a Subject Area.
Named Search Tabs
Search tabs display the query name such as "Search: Department" and "Search: Store", allowing users
to easily identify specific search queries that are opened.
Match Scores on Search Results
Extended Search in IDD allows display of Match Score for records returned in a search.
Logical Menu Grouping
This new feature lets you create logical menu groupings to organize and group related Subject Areas within
the Data menu.
On Open User Exit
When you need to open a record in the Data View, you can call a User Exit on open, before the data is
displayed within the Data View. The user exit has access to the subject area records, and is used to highlight
records, tabs, and/or specific attributes with an informational, warning, or error message.
Configuring Attribute Labels per Subject Area
This new feature provides the ability to configure labels at the Subject Area level by using the resource
bundles. For example, a Party base object that is used for both a Contact and Customer subject area can
have unique attribute labels for attributes displayed in each of the two subject areas.
Filtering Child Records in the Data View
When you view a record in the Data View, filters can be applied to child records, to narrow down the list of
child records to a specific entry or a subset of entries in a child tab. This is particularly helpful when a record
has multiple child records.
Additional Data View Enhancements
The following Data View enhancements are available:
Check boxes
You can display check boxes for boolean values.
Hyperlinks
You can display fields that contain URL references as clickable URLs.
4 MDM-WND-95000-0001
E-mail address
You can display fields that contain e-mail addresses as clickable e-mail addresses.
What's New in Informatica Data Controls
Duplicate Prevention Control
You can now associate a Rules Set to be used with the Duplicate Prevention Control Search Match. This
provides the ability to reduce the number of potential matches that are returned to the Duplicate Prevention
Control.
Documentation Updates
The MDM Multidomain Edition (version 9.5.0) includes major updates to the following documents:
