WHY ARE YOU CRYING?
By Mr S.Narayanan
A man who was 80 years of age had an infection in his ears
which made him almost deaf. The doctor tested him and informed
that an operation was necessary to cure him of the disease. He
agreed to have the operation done as he couldn't hear anything
and the severe pain was increasing day by day.
When the operation was completed successfully, his doctor
gave him the bill covering all the costs. The old man looked at the
bill and started to cry. The doctor took pity on the old man and told
him that if he felt the cost to be too high then they could give him
some concession.
The old man said I am not crying because of the money but I
am crying because God let me hear for 80 years and He never
sent me a bill.
Moral: There are so many blessings in life whose importance
we don't realize, until they are snatched away from us.

FIVE STEPS TO STAYING POSITIVE IN
A NEGATIVE WORLD
By Mr S.Narayanan
Harvard and Stanford Universities have reported that 85% the
reason a person gets a job and gets ahead in that job is due to
attitude; and only 15% is because of technical or specific skills.
Interesting, isn't it? How much money you have spent on your
education? And how much have you spent on building your positive
attitude?
That really hurts. Now here is an interesting thought.
With the "right" attitude, you can and will develop the
necessary skills.
So where is your emphasis? Skill building? Or Attitude
building?
Unfortunately, "Neither" is the real answer. Perhaps if more
people knew how simple it is to develop and maintain a positive
attitude they would invest more time doing so.
So here we go.
Here are just a few of the "reverse" ideas:
* Double book appointments.
* Remove the chairs from the waiting room.
* Put patients who phone on hold (and forget about them).
* Have patients wait outside in the car park.
* Discuss patient's problems in public.
When the brainstorming session runs dry, the team has a long list
of the "reverse" solutions. Now it's time to look at each one in
reverse into a potential solution. Well resulting discussions are
quite revealing. For example:
"Well of course we don't leave patients outside in the car park
we already don't do that."
"But what about in the morning, there are often patients waiting
outside until opening time?
"Mmm, True. Pretty annoying for people on first appointments."
"So why don't we open the waiting room 10 minutes earlier so it
doesn't happen"
"Right, we'll do that from tomorrow. There are several members of
staff working already, so it's no problem".
And so it went on. The reverse brainstorming session revealed
tens of improvement ideas that the team could implement swiftly
and easily.
Jyotsna concluded: "It was enlightening and fun looking at the
problem in reverse. The amazing thing is, it's helped us become
more patient-friendly by stopping doing things rather than creating
more work".

Five steps to staying positive in a negative world:
1. Understand that failure is an event, it is not a person. Yesterday
ended last night; today is a brand new day, and it is yours. You
were born to win, but to be a winner you must plan to win,
prepare to win, and then you can expect to win.
2. Become a lifetime student. Learn just one new word every
day and in five years you will be able to talk with just about
anybody about anything. When your vocabulary improves, your
I.Q. goes up 100% of the time, according to Georgetown
Medical School.
3. Read something informational or inspirational every day.
Reading for 20 minutes at just 240 words per minute will enable
you to read 20 (200-page) books each year. That is 18 more
than the average person reads! What an enormous competitive
advantage . . . if you will just read for 20 minutes a day.
4. The University of Southern California reveals that you can
acquire the equivalent of two years of a college education in
three years just by listening to motivational and educational
cassettes on the way to your job and again on the way home.
What could be easier?
5. Start the day and end the day with positive inputs in your mind.
Inspirational messages cause the brain to flood with dopamine
and nor epinephrine, the energizing neurotransmitters; with
endorphins, the endurance neurotransmitters; and with
serotonin, the feel-good-about-yourself neurotransmitter. Begin
and end the day by reading or doing something positive!
Remember: Success is a process, not an event. Invest time in
building your attitude and it will pay off in your skills as well
as in your career.

Tip:
Reverse brain-storming is a good technique to try when it is difficult
to identify solutions to the problem directly.
Example:
Jyotsna is the manager of a health clinic and she has the task of
improving patient satisfaction.
There have been various improvement initiatives in the past and
the team members have become rather skeptical about another
meeting on the subject. The team is overworked, team members
are "trying their best" and there is no appetite to "waste time" talking
about this.
So she decides to use some creative problem solving techniques
she has learned. This, she hopes, will make the team meeting
more interesting and engage people in a new way.
Perhaps it will reveal something more than the usual "good ideas"
that no one has time to act on.
To prepare for the team meeting, Jyotsna thinks carefully about
the problem and writes down the problem statement:
"How do we improve patient satisfaction?"
Then she reverses problem statement:
"How do we make patients more dissatisfied?"
Already she starts to see how the new angle could reveal some
surprising results.
At the team meeting, everyone gets involved in an enjoyable and
productive reverse brainstorming session. They draw on both their
work experience with patients and also their personal experience
of being patients and customers of other organizations. Jyotsna
helps ideas flow freely, ensuring people to not pass judgment on
even the most unlikely suggestions.

3 Simple Mind Tricks to Control Any Conversation
By Cameron Crawford / Source: Black Ops Hypnosis 2.0
One of the first things I want you to start noticing during
communication is how you use your eyes. Your eyes are very
important as they're one of the main parts of the whole exercise
that will let people know that you're communicating or not.
1. Eye Contact
A person who is in control is not afraid to look directly into
someone's eyes and command attention. So the first mind control
trick I want to share with you is when you're the one talking, the
more eye contact you make with a person the more dominant they'll
perceive you to be...
So the next time you're talking to someone I want you to really
begin to notice how much eye contact you naturally give, because
if you're constantly looking down or constantly looking away then
you're sub communicating that you're submissive and that you
have a low social status.
2. Voice Projection
Another one of my favourite mind control tricks is your voice.
It is the biggest predictor of how good a speaker is going to be. It
all comes down to the clarity and the volume in which they speak.
So as an example, the next time you see two people having a
conversation... you can see who's in command just by taking the
time to notice how they're projecting their voice. Nine times out of
ten the most dominant person will be the one with the loudest and
the clearest voice.
Go look in any social situation and you'll see that the person
with the best voice is always the one with the higher value. Once
you learn how to use your voice in the right way to sub-communicate
10. Be Honest And Dependable :
Take responsibility, be transparent and dependable. Otherwise
numbers 1 9 wont matter. Follow these tips and soon you will
find success staring at you !

Reverse Brainstorming
iStockphoto/Diva_Nir4a
Reverse brainstorming helps you solve problems by combining
brainstorming and reversal techniques. By combining these, you
can extend your use of brainstorming to draw out even more
creative ideas.
To use this technique, you start with one of two "reverse" questions:
Instead of asking, "How do I solve or prevent this problem?" ask,
"How could I possibly cause the problem?"
Instead of asking "How do I achieve these results?" ask, "How
could I possibly achieve the opposite effect?"
How to Use the Tool:
1. Clearly identify the problem or challenge, and write it down.
2. Reverse the problem or challenge by asking:
"How could I possibly cause the problem?", or
"How could I possibly achieve the opposite effect?".
3. Brainstorm the reverse problem to generate reverse solution
ideas. Allow the brainstorm ideas to flow freely. Do not reject
anything at this stage.
4. Once you have brainstormed all the ideas to solve the reverse
problem, now reverse these into solution ideas for the original
problem or challenge.
5. Evaluate these solution ideas. Can you see a potential solution?
Can you see attributes of a potential solution?
-5- -12-
high value, you'll start to notice that when you talk people will
be sucked into you. This is because they find you interesting and
this makes people feel comfortable around you.
3. Verbal Leading
As you work on these sub communications, another mind
control trick I have learnt is you should adopt the mindset of an
alpha or being in control. if I'm talking I'm leading the conversation,
I'm the one who's coming up with the interesting topic or a funny
story.
You need to lead every interaction, and I know at first this may
seem foreign to you at the start, but you just need to push past this
feeling until leading becomes a part of you. Leading demonstrates
confidence and dominance which are both traits of an alpha.
You need to lead physically as well as verbally.
So an example of physical leading would be... "Cmon guys...
let's go for lunch at that Chinese restaurant." You' are thus physically
leading by saying "hey... come on let's go here, let's go to this
place".
An example of verbal leading is just leading the conversation,
so when you're talking to people one on one or in group situations
you are the one who is bringing up the interesting conversation
topics, you are the one who is talking about the movie you just
saw, you are the one who is telling the jokes or the funny stories
and if you watch closely, this is exactly what the controller of a
group always does.
Practice these simple tips and soon you will see yourself on
top of conversations!

4. Never Stop Learning: Go back to school or read books. Get
training & acquire skills.
Becoming a life long learner would benefit us all and is
something we should instill in our kids. Its funny that once youre
out of school you realize how enjoyable learning can be. What
have you learned today?
5. Be Persistent and Work Hard: Success is a marathon, not a
sprint. Never give up.
I think every story of success I read entails long hard hours of
work. There is no getting around this and there is no free lunch.
But, if youre working towards something that youre passionate
about, something you love then is it really work?
6. Learn to Analyze Details: Get all the facts, all the input.
Learn from your mistakes.
I think you have to strike a balance between getting all the
facts and making a decision with incomplete data both are traits
of successful people. Spend time gathering details, but dont catch
analysis paralysis.
7. Focus Your Time And Money: Dont let other people or
things distract you.
Remain laser focused on your goals and surround yourself
with positive people that believe in you. Dont be distracted by the
naysayers or tasks that are not helping you achieve your goals.
8. Dont Be Afraid To Innovate: Be different. Following the
herd is a sure way to mediocrity.
Follow through on that break-out idea you have. Ask yourself
What would I do if I wasnt afraid?
9. Deal And Communicate With People Effectively :
No person is an island. Learn to understand and motivate others.
Successful people develop and nurture a network and they only
do that by treating people openly, fairly and many times firmly.
There is nothing wrong about being firm just dont cross the line.

How many of these 10 secrets of success
do you practice?
How you think is everything. Remember to think positive at
every opportunity. Visualize success, not failure. Avoid negative
environments and people. Here are a few tips for success.
1. How You Think is Everything.
Always be positive. Think Success, not Failure. Beware of a
negative environment.
This trait has to be one of the most important in the entire list.
Your belief that you can accomplish your goals has to be
unwavering. The moment you say to yourself I cant, then you
wont. I was always given the advice never say I cant and Id like
to strike those words from the dictionary.
Ive found that from time-to-time my attitude waivers. A mentor
of mine once said its ok to visit pity city, but you cant stay and
there comes a time when you need to leave. Positive things happen
to positive people.
2. Decide upon Your True Dreams and Goals:
Write down your specific goals and develop a plan to reach
them. Write down my dreams and goals? Develop a plan to reach
them? You mean like a project plan? Yes, thats exactly what this
means. You may have heard the old adage: A New Years resolution
that isnt written down is just a dream, and dreams are not goals.
Goals are those concrete, measurable stepping stones of
achievement that track your progress towards your dreams. My
goal is to start a second career as a freelance writer what are
your goals?
3. Take Action. Goals are nothing without action.
Be like Nike and Just do it. I took action by reaching out
and started writing. Every day I try to take some action towards
my goals. It may be small, but its still an action. Have you taken
action towards your goals?
