1 RC3/RC4 FEATURES
Because of the Walsh length of RC3 is 64 and the Walsh length of RC4 is 128, so the Walsh Code
capacity of RC3 is less than RC4. On the other hand, because of Code Rate of RC3 is less than RC4,
so the power consumption of RC3 is less than RC4.
The Dynamic RC3/RC4 process is the part of Resource Allocate Function. This process balance the
load of power and Walsh Code for the higher capacity of Carrier-Sector. Once a new call setup, the
process will judge which Radio Configuration(RC) would be use depond on the current load of Walsh
Code and Forward Power.

Shown in Table 1 and Table 2 are the detail features of RC3 and RC4.
Table 1. Forward Fundamental Channel and Forward Supplemental Channel Modulation
Parameters for 5 or 20 ms Frames for Radio Configuration 3

Notes:
1. N =1, 2, 4, 8, or 16, which yields data rates of 9600, 19200, 38400, 76800, or=153600 bps,
respectively.
2. If variable-rate Forward Supplemental Channel operation, flexible forward link data rates, or both
are supported, the parameters are determined from the specified number of channel bits per
frame, the maximum assigned number of channel bits per frame for the Forward Fundamental
Channel or the Forward Supplemental Channel, and the specified frame quality indicator length.

bps, respectively.

Notes:
a. Calculate current WalshCode_load_rate.
b. Compare WalshCode_load_rate with RC3_RC4_ threshold which can be configurated in
OMC. If WalshCode_load_rate is great than RC3_RC4_threshold, goto step c. Otherwise
goto step e to choosing RC3.
c. Calculate current Power_load_rate.
d. Compare WalshCode_load_rate with Power_load_rate. If WalshCode_load_rate is great
than Power_load_rate, goto step e to choosing RC4. Otherwise goto step e to choosing RC3.
e. RC judgement.
f. PAR Optimization Function(ZTE Private Algorithm) and Resource Allocate.
