1) Why is magnetc fltraton a value?
Quality magnetc flters are capable of fltering to submicron levels without fow restricton and are reusable for 10+
years. The most damaging contaminant in engine lube, hydraulic fuid, fuel and coolant is ferrous metal under 10 microns.
2) How do you collect non ferrous contaminaton on a magnetc flter?
Through statc adhesion caused by statc charge build up with the high fow fuids and or gases.
3) What types of magnetc flters are there?
The most common are ceramic and have been used to flter oil and fuids for the past 50 years. The new magnetc
flters use rare earth magnets in the magnetc flters.
4) What is the diference between ceramic and rare earth magnetc?
Ceramics are low in magnetc strength and will crack and disassemble when exposed to vibraton. They also lose their
magnetc feld strength when exposed to high heat. Exposed ceramic is also very hard to clean.
Rare earth magnets are 4 tmes stronger than ceramic magnets and handle high heat without losing feld strength and
are highly resistant to vibraton. They are coated and do not crack. They are installed in stainless steel tubes and retain their
strength and clean very easily.

5) What are the advantages of OEI magnetc flters?
OEI magnetc flters are manufactured with our patented design and are 12 tmes stronger than ceramic magnet flters
and are encased in stainless steel tubes in a patented format that creates powerful projected radial felds that have larger
surface area than traditonal magnetc flters rods.

6) How do you clean a magnetc flter rod?
The OEI magnetc flter rod design has no magnetc feld at the end thereby you slide the contaminaton down to the
end and it falls of.

7) What do you do with contaminaton collected?
It is recommended to have the trapped contaminaton analyzed for wear debris identfcaton. The magnetc flter
becomes a predictve maintenance tool.
8) Can I purchase your product directly?
We have distributon in most locatons around the world and if we do not cover your area, yes we will supply direct.
9) Custom designs?
Yes we welcome custom designs.
10) What happens if you remove all the metal out of oil?
Our magnetc flters remove the ferrous and in many applicatons the non ferrous contaminaton to submicron levels
due to statc adhesion but you will never remove all the metal as it is produced by moving metal parts, new oils and fuids
are contaminated with metal and air ingression contaminates the system with fne metal partcles under 10 microns. If you
are tracking the contaminaton levels through oil analysis and install magnetc flters you will simply drop your bench mark
levels much lower. The less hard metals results in less wear thereby extended component and fuid/oil life.
11) How long do magnetc flters last?
OEI magnetc flters have a 10+ year life.

Magnetic Filter Cores
A novel approach to proactive maintenance

The generation of ferrous contaminants in most hydraulic and lube sys-
tems due to both normal and abnormal wear is a fact of life. Knowing the
amount and type of wear particles in the fuid system is paramount to avoid-
ing unscheduled outages. Standard flter elements will capture any type of
particulate contamination, ferrous and non-ferrous, within their media matrix
according to their micron rating. Identifcation of the contamination captured
typically requires off-site laboratory analyses.
Built-in magnetic flter cores can capture ferrous contaminants in fuid systems,
down to < 1 m, before they reach the actual flter, thus providing an excel-
lent diagnostic tool for contamination monitoring and proactive maintenance.
Due to static adhesion, the cores can also retain some of the non-ferrous
contaminants. By simply removing the magnetic core and examining the
contamination retained on it under a microscope, reliability and maintenance
engineers across many industries now have a valuable tool for identifying
potential wear-related issues before they become a real problem.

We manufacture an extensive product line utilizing new magnet technology. Our filters work with and compliment
existing filtration systems and or replace them with reusable stainless screen filters. Custom designs are welcome.
Industry has been reluctant to employ magnetic filtration due to years of exposure to ineffective design and limited
magnetic ability. Recent technological advances in magnetic properties and manufacturing processes have resulted in
smaller, stronger high tech magnets available that allow innovative new designs for filtration systems and dramatically
improving traditional magnetic filtration.
Industry research states Iron and Steel particles under 10 microns in size are the most damaging contaminants in air
compression, water, lubrication, hydraulic fluid, coolant and fuel systems. The rate at which contamination enters these
systems is greatly underestimated and understated. Likewise, the effectiveness of traditional filters at removing metal
contaminants is greatly overstated. Magnetic filtration has practical and beneficial applications for all industry: chemical
processing, oil & gas refining, manufacturing, construction equipment, transportation, marine and pulp & paper.
Our first line: reusable magnetic filters that compliment and work with existing disposable filters. They attach to the
outer skin, extract and trap contaminants to the interior filter skin.
Our second line: magnetic rods and scrubber filters install in-tank, or inline. They offer maximum filtration, no bypassing
with minimal flow restriction, low & high- pressure applications with ten plus years of service.
Our third line: the ADD-Vantage 9000 series are heavy-duty reusable stainless screen filters equipped with an internal
magnetic filter and an internal fail-safe by-pass. When the bypass is activated the fluid is still filtered by the magnetic
filter. They are environmentally friendly with ten plus years of service.
All our products offer long life, are user friendly, easily cleaned, reusable and maintained with minimal effort and
cost. Cleaner fuel and lubricants for all applications in industry will result in reduced maintenance costs and increased

Why Filter Ferrous Contaminants?
Removal of ferrous contaminants (iron, steel, etc) will
dramatically reduce the damaging wear cycle, extending
the life, the fluids and equipment.
Studies show ferrous particles smaller than 10 microns will
generate 3 to 5 times more wear than larger particles.
Equipment is being manufactured with tighter tolerances
causing a demand for higher filtration requirements to
sub-micron levels. These contaminates are carried into
high pressure contact areas causing damage to softer
metals, seals, bearings and gaskets.
The use of extremely strong magnetic fields, are required
to trap these particles, especially in high flow and or high
viscous fluids.
OEIs patented magnetic technology traps ferrous and

In many cases this is the first time credible filtration has

The Magnetc Patch is a temporary soluton designed to
plug of holes in piping, drop chutes and silos allowing
producton to be maintained. It is easily installed and
removed during a scheduled down tme.
The Magnetc patch comes in two sizes and can be cut
into smaller sizes to accommodate smaller holes and
pipes.
Custom sizes and designs are available for slurry product
applicatons and high temperature applicatons up to
300F.

The Yard-Master handles the toughest scrap
metal problems and reducing costly tre damage
& personal injury. Designed with OEIs patented
magnetc technology that allows the magnetc
sweeper to foat over the ground while keeping
constant contact with the ground extractng debris
such as nails, screws, staples, banding, iron chips
under the ground surface that become exposed
under the pressure of a tre.
The Yard-Master is constructed with high quality air
flled 6 tres for ease of maneuvering, available in
3 lengths 12 for shop, 32 for shop or small yards
and 42 and custom sizes for yard use. The magnetc
sweeper is easily removed from the carrier for
cleaning, simply place over a refuge receptacle and
wipe clean with a heavy cloth or gloved hand.

frst it acts as a level monitor for the oil, second as a flter to remove the most damaging
contaminant ferrous metal to submicron levels. The third is a predictve maintenance tool,
simply remove the trapped contaminaton and send it away to a lab for analysis.
The test will identfy premature wear paterns of the components and allow predictve
maintenance scheduling. The adjacent photo shows this magnetc flter is designed with our
new 3/4 diameter magnetc flter projectng multple 4 radial felds. A level line has been

OEI has designed a reusable Stainless Steel Element (9ELSS77532x25) to replace
Komatsu's 209-60-77531 disposable element. OEI's stainless steel elements provide maxi-
mum fltraton protecton, eliminatng any chance of channelling or worm holing the ele-
ment is reusable and available in 40, 25 or 10 micron 200 ratng.
The 2RNC3810T3 magnetc flter is designed to be installed in the Hydraulic Element Filter
(209-60-77532) magnetc technology.
The magnetc flter has been designed for easy installaton, simply remove the strainer and
drill a 3/8" hole in the center botom, atached the magnetc flter with (2) 3/8" washers
place (1) washer on the magnetc flter insert through the strainer and fasten with the 2nd
washer and 3/8" nut. The tee handle is designed to keep the magnetc flter centered in the
element.

OEI saw the need to improve the filtering capabilities of the traditional Y-Strainer by
installing our patented Magnetic Filter. The Y-Strainer is now capable of trapping ferrous
and non-ferrous contaminants by static adhesion to the sub-micron range. This is a major

OEI Fuel Gas fltraton system thats incorporates a magnetc separator as the primary flter and
a pleated stainless steel cloth element as the fnal flter.
This environmentally friendly design will flter black powder contaminaton to submicron levels
at an estmated 95+ efcency. This will signifcantly improve the burn and reduce the acid wear
of the pistons and spark plugs.
The magnetc separators have a 5+ years operatonal life and the cleanable stainless steel cloth
flter elements have a 3 to 5+ years operatonal life.
Our design allows the gas to have frst contact with our magnetc separators statoned inside the
stainless steel cloth elements thereby allowing an extended element operatonal life.
The magnetc separators have the most powerful non-electric magnetc felds in the industry
with a holding strength of 300 Kg per 300 mm of length.
This magnetc feld strength creates the ability to extract and trap submicron contaminaton
while in high fow applicatons. The change out and cleaning intervals are policed by a diferen-
tal pressure gauge.

Two Stage Magnetic Separator Cone Strainer
Designed for start-ups of new and existing pipelines. Traditionally after start-up the cone strainer
is removed. The compressor and or pumps (meter) are left without protection from the ferrous
metal created by the erosion and corrosion of the pipeline. With OEIs Magnetic Filtration Cone
Strainer the screen can be removed and the Magnetic Filter reinstalled to offer continuous
protection.

Please note: OEI magnetc separator basket strainers are designed with oversized
housings to allow maximum employment of the magnetc separator to ensure the
highest efcientcy. Industry standard of pipe to body rato is a 2.5 to 1 rato and OEIs
rato is a minimum 4:1.

The prime functon of the OEI Regrind Mill Hydrostatc Lif Lube System (HLS) is to lubricate the bearing
during the three critcal periods encountered during start-up and shut-down of the mill. The HLS should
be operated during normal mill operaton to maintain oil cleanliness and compliment the existng internal
lubricaton system for the bearing. One HLS system is required for each bearing.
Start-up is the critcal period because of the frictonal wear and stress developed prior to the formaton of
an adequate hydrodynamic oil flm on the bearing surfaces.
The HLS is designed to foat the mill on a flm of oil which is introduced under high pressure (3000psi) at
the center of the load area of the bearing. A satsfactory oil flm is thereby established prior to start-up
and during the critcal period following start-up. The HLS will maintain an ample lubricant flm throughout
the critcal periods of operaton such as an unbalanced load (rock) and thermal expansion and the cooling
of period.
The HLS is equipped with state of the art environmentally friendly fltraton to ensure protecton from
premature wear of the entre system by maintaining a high level of oil cleanliness. The oil is fltered by a
patented magnetc flter installed prior to the pump to protect the pump and again by the ADD-Vantage
9000 afer the pump allowing fltraton to submicron levels. The HLS is housed in a cabinet enclosure for
protecton from the harsh environment of the plant with quick connectons for easy install and replace-
ment for maintenance. Pressure gauges are visible at all tmes and remote monitoring optonal.

DUAL PURPOSE THERMAL KIDNEY LOOP

Combining OEI submicron fltraton capability and a thermal cooling system ofers the ability to maintain
a safe operatonal temperature and an ISO cleanliness level that will extend the lube oil and component
life.
For applicaton on gear boxes, hydraulic and coolant systems. Equipped with temperature gauges and
sample ports before entering the unit and afer to identfy the reducton in temperature and contamina-
ton in the fuid or oil.
Compact and available in custom designs for all applicatons to suit individual requirements. For mobile
and statc employment and powered by DC, AC and Hydraulic drive.
Our Thermal Kidney Loop system is designed with a magnetc flter in our Scrubber format prior to the
pump to remove the ferrous metals to submicron levels and protect the pump and the thermal compo-
nents and an ADD-Vantage 9000 flter to remove any residual non ferrous contaminaton before returning
the fuid and or oil to the applicaton.

ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY AND HIGHLY EFFICIENT
The OEI Kidney Loop combines two fltraton technologies in a three fltering stage design that ofers a highly
efcient and environmentally friendly cleanable long life fltraton system.
1st Filtering Stage and primary flter is a magnetc scrubber utlizing OEI patented technology rated to sub-
micron fltraton capability.
2nd and 3rd Filtering Stage is the ADD-Vantage 9000 series dual flter. The 2nd Filtering Stage is a cleanable
long life stainless steel cloth media element that has an absolute ratng of 25 or 40 microns and a nominal rat-
ing of 8 to 10 microns. The stainless steel cloth media element eliminates the worm holing and channeling that
occurs in cloth, paper, fberglass, or polymer media. The 3rd and fnal Filtering Stage is a magnetc flter inside
the Add-Vantage 9000 stainless steel element to trap contaminaton to sub-micron levels.

High Flow Dual Filtration System
The High Flow Dual Filtration System is a combination of two filtration
technologies.
1) Beta 200 rated reusable stainless steel element
2) OEIs patented magnetic filter extracts and traps ferrous and non ferrous
contamination.
The ability to remove non-ferrous contamination is through ferrous to non-ferrous
abrasive contact and static adhesion.
Employed on a custom OEI high flow filter mount base that allows up to 200 gallons a

THE ENVIRO-WASH 9000
OEI introduces an environmentally friendly and cost efectve cleaning system for stainless steel cloth media
flter elements. The Enviro-Wash 9000 cleaning system is compact, mobile, user friendly and replaces the tra-
ditonal ultrasonic cleaning systems.
OEIs biodegradable cleaning soluton will remove carbon, soot, graphite, oils, tars, solvent based products,
water repellent greases, waxes, grease, soils and protein deposits.
The Enviro-Wash 9WSH-8 system is designed to clean all our stainless steel cloth media elements. The system
operates as a soak and spray process that cycles in 30 minutes from dirty to clean elements and allows the
cleaning of (2) 24 elements, (4) 12 elements or (8) 6 elements. The 20 litre envirowash cleaning soluton
will have a cleaning capacity of 900+ flter elements on average.
The Enviro-Wash 9PWSH-### system is designed as an individual system to clean all our stainless steel cloth
media elements. The system operates as a soak and spray and air dry process.

(Five year life expectancy).
The exclusive remedy for breach of this warranty is replacement of any product which the buyer, within
the warranty period, has notified the Seller in writing to be defective, and which the Seller has deter-
mined to be defective. If the buyer has submitted a warranty registration card for the product, the notice
of the defect must include a proof of purchase. The Buyer will be responsible for all costs of shipment of
replacement parts. In no event will the Sellers liability for any damage exceed the purchase price of the
product. SELLER WILL NOT BE LIABLE TO THE BUYER FOR ANY INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR SPECIAL
DAMAGES INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, LOST REVENUES OR PROFITS, EXPENSES RELATED TO
TRAVEL, AND LOSS DUE TO PERSONAL INJURY. The sole purpose of the stipulated remedy shall be to
provide the Buyer with free replacement of defective parts in the manner provided herein. This exclusive
remedy shall not be deemed to have failed of its essential purpose so long as the Seller is willing and
able to replace defective parts in the prescribed manner. SUCH WARRANTY IS EXTENDED ONLY TO THE
ORIGINAL BUYER OF THE FILTER MASTER AND DOES NOT EXTEND TO A REPURCHASER OF THE PRODUCT.
THE WARRANTIES IN THIS AGREEMENT ARE IN LIEU OF ALL OTHER WARRANTIES, EXPRESSED OR
IMPLIED, INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, ANY WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR
A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND SUCH OTHER WARRANTIES ARE EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMED. THE SELLER HAS
NOT MADE AND DOES NOT HEREBY MAKE ANY OTHER REPRESENTATION, WARRANTY OR COVENANT
WITH RESPECT TO THE CONDITION, QUALITY, DURABILITY, DESIGN, OPERATION, CAPACITY, FITNESS FOR
USE, OR SUITABILITY OF THE EQUIPMENT. THIS WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER PARTS THAT ARE SUBJECT
TO NORMAL WEAR AND/OR DETRIMENTAL EFFECTS OF EROSION, CORROSION OR TEMPERATURE.
