iMaestri
La collezione Cassina costituita da modelli paradossalmente cos
diversi, perfino contraddittori, da cui emerge un tratto comune:
il coraggio di ricercare per questa produzione quella qualit che
ne fa un punto di rifermiento per la cultura internazionale del design.
Certamente, occorreva anche coraggio per produrre questi semplici
mobili, in cui stanno per lintelligenza, le speranze, le debolezze e
la genialit dei pi famosi architetti che hanno operato nel XX secolo.
La malinconica intuizione moderna di Mackintosh, la visionaria
precisione di Le Corbusier e Charlotte Perriand, la certezza
rivoluzionaria di Wright, la geometrica follia di Rietveld, la raffinata
classicit di Asplund, loscillazione tra il rigore e la libert di Albini
risplendono nella collezione dei Maestri; un segno dei tempi che
banali imitatori cerchino oggi di vivere, almeno in parte, del riflesso
di questa luce. Certo, chi non ha il coraggio non se lo pu dare.
Invece, ricercare la diversit, tentare il nuovo, rischiare su ci che
ancora non , sono le strade che Cassina ha indicato e percorso,
insieme ai progettisti delle nuove generazioni. Cos, nuovi sono stati
e sono anche Gio Ponti, Vico Magistretti, Mario Bellini, Gianfranco
Frattini, Toshiyuki Kita, Paolo Deganello, Massimo Morozzi, Gaetano
Pesce, Andrea Branzi, Ettore Sottsass jr., Achille Castiglioni, Piero
Lissoni, Philippe Starck e tutti gli altri nomi che appaiono in questa
lunga e bella storia; perch ciascuno di loro si reinventato un
rapporto con lazienda e le sue strutture di ricerca e produzione.
Forse sta proprio qui la capacit di creare anche un nuovo modello
di industria: nel riuscire a tenere insieme personalit molto diverse,
riportandole a una stessa logica di progetto, fino a far nascere oggetti
che sono parte di uno stesso ordine. Un ordine indefinibile, che per
nasce da molte cose certe: la ricerca della miglior qualit, i continui
controlli e aggiustamenti sui materiali, le tecniche e lesecuzione, ma
anche, ancora prima, lattenzione al significato dei colori, delle forme e
soprattutto dei comportamenti generati da ogni nuovo progetto.

The Cassina collection includes models so paradoxically
different, even contradictory, from which yet a common
feature ermerges: the courage to seek the kind of quality
that would make it a reference point for international design.
Certainly, courage was also needed to produce these simple
pieces of furniture, that are seen to harbour the intelligence,
the hopes, the weaknesses and the ingenuity of the most
famous architects that have worked in the twentieth century.
The malinconic modern intuitions of Mackintosh, the visionary
precision of Le Corbusier and Charlotte Perriand, the
revolutionary certainty of Wright, Rietvelds geometric folly,
Asplunds refined classicism, the fluctuation between the
rigorousness and freedom of Albini shine forth in this collection
of Masters; it is a sign of the times that banal imitators try at
least in part to bask in the reflected glory of this light. Certainly
he who lacks courage cannot instil it in himself. On the other
hand the path traced out and taken by Cassina alongside
the designers of the new generations follows the quest for
diversity, the desire to try new things, to risk that that has yet
to be created. Here the new generations would also number
Gio Ponti, Vico Magistretti, Mario Bellini, Gianfranco Frattini,
Toshiyuki Kita, Paolo Deganello, Massimo Morozzi, Gaetano
Pesce, Andrea Branzi, Ettore Sottsass jr., Achille Castiglioni,
Piero Lissoni, Philippe Starck and all the other names that
appear in this long tale pervaded by beauty: this because each
single person mentioned has been able to interpret his relations
with the firm and its research and productive structure afresh.
This could be where the capacity to create a new industrial
model lies: the ability to combine personalities of very different
natures, to hold them to the same design logic up to giving
birth to objects that belong to the same order. An indefinable
order, born through out of a series of certainties: a search for
utmost quality, continuous testing and adjustment of materials,
techniques and the execution, but above all the attention
paid to the meaning of colours, to the forms and above all the
behaviours generated by each new project.

Die Kollektion Cassina besteht aus Modellen, die paradoxerweise so
unterschiedlich, ja sogar einander widerstreitend sind dennoch mit
einem gemeinsamen Nenner: den Mut fr jene Qualitt zu suchen,
die daraus einen Wertbegriff fr die internationale Designkultur
macht. Allerdings gehrte auch Mut dazu, diese einfachen Mbel zu
produzieren, in denen sich jedoch die Intelligenz, die Hoffnung, die
Verletzlichkeit und die Genialitt der berhmtesten Architekten des
20. Jahrhunderts vereinen. Die melancholische moderne Intuition
eines Mackintosh, die visionre Przision von Le Corbusier und
Charlotte Perriand, die revolutionre Sicherheit von Wright, der
geometrische Fanatismus von Rietveld und die raffinierte Klassik
von Asplund, die Schwankung zwischen Rigorositt und Freiheit von
Albini geben der Kollektion I Maestri ihren Glanz. Es ist ein Zeichen
unserer Zeit, dass banale Imitatoren heute versuchen, zumindest
zum Teil, im Abglanz dieses Lichtes zu leben. Sicher, wer nicht den
Mut hat, kann ihn sich nicht verschaffen. Die Unterschiedlichkeit
zu suchen, das Neue zu wagen, das Risiko einzugehen, bei dem,
was noch nicht ist, das hingehen sind die Wege, die Cassina
eingeschlagen und durchschritten hat, gemeinsam mit den
Designern neuer Generationen. So neu waren auch einmal
und sind es immer noch Gio Ponti, Vico Magistetti, Mario Bellini,
Gianfranco Frattini, Toshiyuki Kita, Paolo Deganello, Massimo
Morozzi, Gaetano Pesce, Andrea Branzi, Ettore Sottsass jr., Achille
Castiglioni, Piero Lissoni, Philippe Starck und alle weiteren Namen,
die in dieser langen und schnen Geschichte auftauchen. Denn jeder
von ihnen hat sich in der Verbindung mit dem Unternehmen und
dessen Strukturen der Forschung und Produktion neu erschaffen.
Vielleicht liegt wirklich darin die Fhigkeit, auch ein neues Modell
fr die Industrie zu schaffen: wenn es gelingt, sehr unterschiedliche
Persnlichkeiten zusammenzuhalten und sie zu einer identischen
Projektlogik zu fhren, um daraus Objekte entstehen zu lassen, die
ein Teil einer selben Ordnung sind. Eine undefinierbare Ordnung,
die jedoch aus vielen feststehenden Dingen geboren wird: der
Suche nach der besten Qualitt, den stndigen Kontrollen und
Anpassungen der eingesetzten Materialien, den Techniken und
der Ausfhrung, aber auch, und vielleicht vor allem, der Beachtung
der Bedeutung von Farben, Formen und insbesondere der
Verhaltensmuster, die von jedem neuen Entwurf ausgelst werden.

simples o lon trouve cependant lintelligence, les esprances,

la certitude rvolutionnaire de Wright, la folie gomtrique de

des matres; le fait que de banals imitateurs tentent aujourdhui
de vivre, du moins en partie, du reflet de cette lumire est un
signe des temps. Certes, celui qui na pas de courage ne peut
pas se le donner. Par contre, rechercher la diversit, tenter
le neuf, prendre des risques sur ce quil ny a pas encore, tels
sont les sentiers indiqus et parcourus par cassina avec les
designers de nouvelles gnrations. Et ainsi, gio ponti, Vico
Magistretti, Mario Bellini, Gianfranco Frattini, Toshiyuki Kita,
Paolo Deganello, Massimo Morozzi, Gaetano Pesce, Andrea
Branzi, Ettore Sottsass jr., Achille Castiglioni, Piero Lissoni,
Philippe Starck et tous les autres noms qui apparaissent dans
cette longue et belle histoire ont t, et sont, nouveaux; car
chacun deux sest rinvent dans le rapport avec lentreprise
et ses structures de recherche et de production. Peut-
tre est-ce justement l que se trouve la capacit de crer
galement un nouveau modle dindustrie: en russissant
tenir ensemble des personnalits trs diffrentes, en le
renvoyant une mme logique de conception, jusqu ce
que naissent des objets qui participent un mme ordre.
Un ordre indfinissable, qui nat cependant de nombreuses
certitudes: la recherche de la meilleure qualit, les contrles
et les ajustements continus sur les matriaux, les recherches
et lexcution, mais aussi, bien avant, lattention au sens des
couleurs, des formes, et surtout des comportements gnrs
par chaque nouvel projet.

Sistema componibile Un sistema di sedute che permette grande essibilit: adottando la panca, come
elemento base, e accostandovi i pannelli a formare congurazioni che rispondano ad esigenze personalizzate
oppure scegliendo fra le composizioni suggerite. Un sistema capace di rispondere a molteplici richieste:
con o senza sponde, tutto aperto e senza schienale, oppure tutto chiuso pieno di cuscini come un nido. I
cuscini schienale in piuma, in diverse dimensioni, nascondono un innovativo inserto in poliuretano espanso
che consente di modicarne laltezza a proprio piacimento. La seduta, sostenuta da cinghie, in poliuretano
espanso privo di CFC a densit differenziata con imbottitura in piuma. Cavalletti in pressofusione di alluminio
lucido. Rivestimento disponibile in tessuto o pelle. Completano la collezione tavolini con la stessa struttura
del divano e con il piano in acciaio o in cristallo, quadrati o rettangolari.
Modular sofa system A seating system that allows great exibility: using the bench, as a base element,
linked together with panels to form congurations that meet customized requirements or with the possibility
to choose one of the suggested compositions. A system capable of meeting multiple requirements: with or
without sides, wide open with no backrest, or enclosed and full of cushions, like a nest. The down-padded
backrest cushions, in several sizes, hide an innovative insert in polyurethane foam that lets you adjust their
height. The seat, supported by belts, is in differentiated-density CFC-free polyurethane foam with down
padding. Frames in die-cast polished aluminium. Fabric or leather upholstery. The system also includes side
tables with a matching frame and square or rectangular steel or glass tops.
Kombinierbares System Eine Sitzlandschaft mit berraschender Flexibilitt: Die Bank als Basiselement,
mit Paneelen kombinierbar, um ganz individuelle Lsungen zu bilden oder unter den bereits vorgeschlagenen
Kombinationen auszuwhlen. Ein System, das sich zahlreichen und wandelnden Bedrfnissen anpassen kann:
mit oder ohne Seiten, ganz offen und ohne Rckenlehne, oder geschlossen wie ein Nest mit vielen Kissen.
Die mit Daunen gefllten Kissen-Rckenlehnen unterschiedlicher Gre verbergen einen innovativen Einsatz
aus Polyurethanschaumstoff, mit dem die Hhe beliebig verstellt werden kann. Die durch Gurte gesttzte
Sitzche ist aus FCKW-freiem Polyurethanschaumstoff unterschiedlicher Dichte mit Daunenfllung. Gestelle
aus poliertem, druckgegossenem Aluminium. Bezug aus Stoff oder Leder erhltlich. Die Kollektion wird
komplettiert durch kleine Tische mit dem gleichen Gestell wie das Sofa, mit quadratischen oder rechteckigen
Tischplatten aus Stahl oder Kristall.
Systme composable Un systme dassises qui permet une grande exibilit: la banquette est llment
de base combine avec des panneaux pour crer des compositions personnalises qui rpondent aux
exigences individuelles; le systme offre aussi la possibilit de choisir des compositions dj congures
tant donc capable de satisfaire de besoins diffrents: avec ou sans bords, compltement ouvert et sans
dossier, ou bien compltement ferm et plein de coussins, comme un nid. Les coussins de dossier en plume,
de diffrentes dimensions, cachent un insert innovant en mousse de polyurthane qui permet den modier
la hauteur au gr de chacun. Lassise, soutenue par des sangles, est en mousse de polyurthane sans CFC,
densit diffrencie, avec rembourrage en plume. Supports en moulage sous pression daluminium poli.
Le revtement est disponible en tissu ou en cuir. Le systme est complt par des tables basses, ayant le
mme support que le canap, avec plateaux carrs ou bien rectangulaires en acier ou en cristal.

Lelegante struttura in frassino tinto nero a poro aperto dona il perfetto equilibrio tra contemporaneo e rtro.
La collezione costituita da poltrona, divani in diverse declinazioni di misura e forma ed elementi con sedile
allungato, aggregabili oppure utilizzabili anche singolarmente. Il modello pu essere corredato da cuscini
in diverse dimensioni in tessuto o pelle. I cuscini schienale sono imbottiti in piuma; i cuscini seduta sono
costituiti da un inserto in poliuretano e imbottiti in piuma e piumino. Disponibile la versione con imbottitura
in ovatta di poliestere.
Soft forms give life to a collection balanced between spontaneity and refnement. The soft cushioning
is supported by a leather backrest with an elegant black stained ashwood structure creating the perfect
liaison between contemporary and retro. The collection is composed of an armchair, sofas in different sizes
and shapes and elements with long seat, to be used as joining units or also individually. The model is also
available with additional cushions in different sizes with fabric or leather upholstery. The back cushions have
a feather padding; the seat cushions are made up of a polyurethane core and feather padding. A version with
polyester padding is also available.
Harmonie und Weichheit der Formen treffen auf Diskretion und Strenge und bringen somit eine Kollektion
zwischen Spontanitt und Eleganz hervor. Die weichen Kissen werden von der Rckenlehne in Leder gesttzt.
Die elegante Struktur aus offenporiger Esche schwarz lackiert bietet das perfekte Gleichgewicht zwischen
zeitgenssischem und Retrodesign. Die Kollektion besteht aus einem Sessel, Sofas in verschiedenen Maen
und Kombinationen und zusammenstellbaren Liegen auch einzeln verwendbar. Das Modell kann auch durch
Stoff- oder Lederkissen in verschiedenen Grssen ergnzt werden. Die Rckenkissen sind Daunen gepolstert;
die Sitzkissen haben eine Daunenpolsterung mit einem Polyurethankern. Eine Variante mit Polsterung in
Polyesterwatte ist auch lieferbar.
Lharmonie et la souplesse des formes permettent la discrtion et la rigueur donnant vie une collection en
quilibre entre spontanit et prciosit. Lenveloppement moelleux des coussins est soutenu par le dossier en
cuir. La structure lgante en frne teint noir pore ouvert donne un quilibre parfait entre le contemporain
et le rtro. La collection se constitue dun fauteil, de canaps en diffrentes dimensions et formes et chaises
longues composables ou bien utilisables sparment. Le modle peut tre complt par de coussins, dans
diffrentes dimensions, en tissu ou cuir. Les coussins du dossier sont rembourrs en plume; les coussins du
sige sont constitus dune insertion en polyurthane et rembourrs en plume et duvet. Une version avec
rembourrage en ouate de polyester est aussi disponible.

Disegnata da Franco Albini insieme a Franca Helg, sua assidua collaboratrice dal 1952, la poltrona
Tre Pezzi formula una rilettura modernissima della classica bergre, di cui viene esplicitata la struttura
formale. I tre elementi compositivi sono evidenziati con estrema chiarezza in una sorta di visione
esplosa ed enfatizzata: la profonda seduta, lanello poggiareni, che disegna un semicerchio perfetto
e il poggiatesta a mezzaluna, con la loro nitida geometria sono ben distinti luno rispetto allaltro.
Il segno graco della struttura in tubolare in acciaio verniciato nero opaco o cromato connette gli
elementi imbottiti. Ogni mobile della Collezione Cassina I Maestri porta impressi indelebilmente: la
rma dellAutore, il logotipo Cassina I Maestri, il numero progressivo di produzione per identicare
loggetto in collegamento con la sua Carta dIdentit.
Designed by Franco Albini with Franca Helg, who has worked continuously with him since 1952, the
Tre Pezzi armchair offers a very modern re-reading of the classic bergre in which the formal structure
is made explicit. The three elements of the composition are displayed with exceptional clarity in a sort
of exploded and accentuated view: the deep seat, the back support ring (which describes a perfect
semi-circle), and the half-moon headrest. With their clean geometry, each element is perfectly distinct
from the others. The graphic symbol of the frame in tubular steel, painted matt black or chrome-plated,

La chaise-longue, disegnata nel 1928, costituita da due elementi liberi fra loro: base e seduta o piano-
sdraio. Di queste, la seduta pu scorrere sulla base con slittamento continuo, consentendo qualsiasi
inclinazione. Chaise-longue a inclinazione variabile, con culla in acciaio cromato lucido oppure verniciato

elementi imbottiti che si percepisce come un insieme molto accogliente, formato da cuscini semplici e morbidi,
in grado per di garantire un corretto sostegno. Elementi senza braccioli, con un solo bracciolo (destro o
sinistro) e angolari. disponibile anche una poltrona lunga, aggregabile agli altri elementi e una chaise-longue
utilizzabile individualmente. Le parti imbottite sono contenute da una struttura a vista in rovere tinto scuro o in
legno laccato lucido bianco. Alle poltrone e ai divani cos formati, possono essere accostati piccoli mobili di
servizio che li completano. Larticolazione permette di creare isole imbottite con comodi piani dappoggio,
confortevoli contenitori che possono svilupparsi su tre lati. I rivestimenti sono completamente sfoderabili. La
struttura interna in acciaio e poliuretano espanso, privo di CFC, a densit differenziata. Imbottitura in piuma

Modular sofa system A simple articulation that allows a wide range of coupling and combination. A line of
upholstered elements forming an invitingly comfortable whole made up of simple, soft cushions, yet at the
same time providing robust and scrupulously correct support. Components without arms, with one arm-rest
(either left or right) and corner units. There is also a long seating unit to go with the other components and
a chaise-longue to stand alone. The upholstered sections are contained within a visible wooden shell-like
framework that comes in dark stained oak or white lacquer. The armchair and sofas thus formed may be
complemented by little occasional pieces that go to make up the set. The system allows upholstered islands
to be formed with handy table-top surfaces and container units that can run along three sides. Coverings are
completely removable. Internal frame is in steel and differentiated CFC-free polyurethane foam. The padding

This revolving metal armchair was designed in 1928. The novelty of the design is the principle of the
device linking legs and seat, allowing the latter to revolve. Revolving small armchair with polished chrome

The table is a bridge designed to link together places, shores, ideas, people. A pure structure simple,

The lounge chair is made up of a number of different parts that are linked together without the use of
any joint. The use of colour throws the different elements into relief and highlights the characteristics

Divani in due larghezze, 180 cm e 260 cm. Lo schienale caratterizzato da uno sviluppo orizzontale a elica
che pu svilupparsi verso sinistra o verso destra. I divani da 180 cm (sinistri e destri), possono essere abbinati
per formare ununica composizione. Gli elementi sono dotati di basi a vista in acciaio cromato e pattini in
nylon trasparente. La struttura interna in acciaio, imbottitura in poliuretano espanso, privo di CFC, a densit
differenziata e ovatta di poliestere. Rivestimento sfoderabile in tessuto o pelle. Il modello completato da
tavolini di complemento accostabili anche lateralmente ai divani. Il tavolino quadrato fornito in tre versioni:

either left or right. The 180 cm. sofas (left and right) can be linked together to form a single item. The elements
have visible bases in chrome-plated steel and transparent nylon feet. The inner structure is in steel, padded
with CFC-free, differenciated density polyurethane foam and polyester wadding. Removable upholstery in
fabric or leather. The model is integrated with coffee tables that can also be placed alongside the sofas. The
square low table comes in three versions: with polished rosewood nish top and transparent plexiglass base
that doubles up as a container, with polished rosewood nish top and glossy black lacquered base, with
glossy white lacquered top and base. The round low table is in mat aluminium painted rigid polyurethane.
The base can slide under the sofa seat.

It can be tted with traditional rectangular back cushions (in this case the height is 78 cm.) to complete its
structure or cushions (again feather-lled) in different sizes and with different covers. The composition includes:
sofas with one or two armrests, wide or narrow; armchairs, chaise-longue armchairs and central element;
island and corner elements, ottomans and convenient elements which can be used either as end or corner
parts. Each element is fully upholstered with covers which can be removed extremely easily (each item can
easily be dismantled into all its component parts), and can be used alone or with all the other elements in
the composition. The frame upholstery is in polyester wadding. The cushions are lled in feather or polyester.
Kombinierbares System Das ist ein System von Polsterelementen mit jeweils niedriger Rckenlehne (68 cm)
und einer Tiefe von 104 cm. Es gibt traditionelle Rckenkissen, rechteckig (bei dieser Ausfhrung ist die Hhe
78 cm) und mit Rahmen genht welche die Basis zur Rckenlehne komplettieren oder lose Wurfkissen (mit
Daunenfllung) in unterschiedlichen Gren und Bezgen. Das System gliedert sich wie folgt: Sofas mit einer
oder zwei Armlehnen (breit oder schmal); Sessel, Chaiselongue-Sessel und Zwischenelement; Insel- und
Eckelemente, Polsterhocker und bequeme Elemente, die sowohl als Endteil als auch als Eckteil verwendet
werden knnen. Jedes Element ist komplett bezogen, wobei der Bezug extrem leicht abgezogen werden kann
(jedes Element kann leicht in seine Einzelteile zerlegt werden); die Elemente knnen einzeln oder mit allen
anderen Elementen des Systems kombiniert benutzt werden. Die Polsterung der Struktur ist Polyesterwatte.

con un materassino in tessuto trapuntato, accoppiato con ovatta di poliestere, disponibile in vari colori.
High armchair and low armchair entirely made of thick wool felt. In the lower part, the felt is impregnated
with thermosetting resin to guarantee stiffness and resistance. The seat is xed to the supporting frame by
means of hempen strings, which trim also the soft upper edge of the chair. The armchair is completed by
mattress in quilted fabric, sewn together with the polyester padding, available in various colours.

e vassoi portabottiglie. I piani dei contenitori possono essere in: rovere tinto scuro, cristallo sabbiato e
verniciato bianco, marmo bianco di Carrara. I piani sono nelle lunghezze per uno, due o tre moduli accostati
(rispettivamente 90 cm., 180 cm. o 270 cm.). Gli interni dei cassetti sono in legno tinto nero. Le manigliette
sono in alluminio anodizzato naturale. Se due contenitori sono utilizzati impilati, necessario ordinare il
compensatore e un solo piano.

Giocando con i volumi, seguendo lispirazione dei vuoti e dei pieni per comporre in libert, nasce una
nuova famiglia di contenitori. Gli interni laccati in diversi colori opachi vengono abbinati ad una struttura
esterna a pannelli nobilitati, impiallacciati in rovere fumigato o laccati lucidi. Piedini in tubolare di alluminio
rivestito in rovere fumigato.
Radar plays with volumes and lets its inspiration be guided by solids and spaces to compose in freedom,
creating a new family of containers. The lacquered interiors in different matt colours are matched to an external
panel frame in smoked oak or glossy lacquered. Feet in tubular aluminium covered in smoked oak.
Durch spielerische Verwendung der Volumen, bei denen der Inspiration aus Hohl- und Vollrumen freier
Lauf gelassen wird, entstand eine neue Behlterfamilie. Die mit verschiedenen matten Farben lackierten
Innenchen werden mit einer Panneelauenstruktur Eiche geruchert furniert oder glnzend lackiert
kombiniert. Rhrenfrmige Fe aus mit Eiche geruchert verkleidetem Aluminium.
En jouant avec les volumes, en suivant linspiration des vides et des pleins pour composer en toute libert,
une nouvelle famille de casiers est ne. Les intrieurs laqus, en diffrentes couleurs opaques, sont associs
une structure externe panneaux en chne fum, ou bien laqus brillants. Pieds en tubulaire daluminium
revtu de chne fum.
