MARMA CHIKTSA - INTRODUCTION CHAPTER - 1 (PRESENTATION NO - 4 )
I am trying to explain the concept of involvement of the Pranic energy & Nadi in Marma Chikitsa.
It is said that the pranic energy passes through the 72000 to 3,50,000 and odd nadis present in the human body connected to the shat chakras, through
which the evoked Kundalini power traverses all along the body.
Prana is a central concept in Ayurveda & Yoga where it is believed to flow through a network of fine subtle channels called Nadis. Its most subtle material form is
the breath, but it is also to be found in the blood, and its most concentrated form is semen in men and vaginal fluid in women.
What is Kundalini ?
Swami Vivekananda described kundalini briefly in London during his lectures on Raja Yoga as follows
"According to the Yogis, there are two nerve currents in the spinal column, called Pingala and Ida, and a hollow canal called Sushumna running through the
spinal cord. At the lower end of the hollow canal is what the Yogis call the "Lotus of the kundalini". They describe it as triangular in form in which, in the
symbolical language of the Yogis, there is a power called the kundalini, coiled up.
When that kundalini awakes, it tries to force a passage through this hollow canal,
and as it rises step by step, as it were, layer after layer of the mind becomes open
and all the different visions and wonderful powers come to the Yogi. When it reaches
the brain, the Yogi is perfectly detached from the body and mind; the soul finds itself
free. We know that the spinal cord is composed in a peculiar manner. If we take the
figure eight horizontally there are two parts which are connected in the middle.
Suppose you add eight after eight, piled one on top of the other, that will represent
the spinal cord. The left is the Ida, the right Pingala, and that hollow canal which
runs through the centre of the spinal cord is the Sushumna.
Where the spinal cord ends in some of the lumbar vertebrae, a fine fibre issues
downwards, and the canal runs up even within that fibre, only much finer. The canal is
closed at the lower end, which is situated near what is called the sacral plexus, which,
according to modern physiology, is triangular in form. The different plexuses that have
their centres in the spinal canal can very well stand for the different "lotuses" of the
Yogi."
Definition of Kundalini as according to Atharva Veda, explained in the book named The Hidden Mysteries of kundalini Authored by R.Venugopalan

The following Images with appropriate labels are self explanatory to understand
the presence of the nadis through which the prana vayu circulates all over the
body.
This Image depicts the Nadis carrying Prana ; Small chakras , Ida , Pingala &
Sushumna Nadis present in the Face.
This Image depicts the minutest details of how the nadis originate from
mooladhara chakra pass upwards to the other chakras and from where in
spreads ultimately to the respective areas of thier control. The Chakras
could be seen as a circle of plexus of the prana carrying nadis in the
center of the sushumna.

This Image depicts the Sookshma (Minor) & Sthula (Major) Nadis present
in the palms of the hands. It also displays the minor chakras present in the
hand. The correlation of the presence of the possible marmas are labelled
henceforth.
The image depicts the major and minor nadis in the lateral aspect of the
foot. The relation of the minor chakras to that of the Marmas can be
visualised in this image.

Nadis situated at the base of the foot and the related marmas are depicted
in this image.

Shri.R.Venugopalan's work in the name of The Hidden mysteries of Kundalini, helped in undersatnding the concept with the beautiful images on it. The above
images are a copy from that book but had been labelled over here to make one understand the concept of Prana in marma Chikitsa. I prostrate my head to
Shri.R.Venugopalan, from whose work I was able to understand the concept of Kundalini, Pranic energy, Nadis, Shat chakras etc., as an EKALVYA.I am hereby
providing the place of availability of his book for the interested persons in the following image.
