INTRODUCTION
As part of the syllabus of Mahatma Gandhi university , an industrial
attachment programme had to be undergone by me for period of one
month and the company I chose was Anchuthara foods, Poochakkal,
Cherthala. The main aim of this programme is to familiarise the
students with the practical aspect of a company.

First of all I thank God Almighty without whose blessings I would
not have completed this report.
I gratefully acknowledge Mrs.Martina, lecturer, Rajagiri college,
Kakkanad for her guidance and assistance in preparing this report.
I extend my sincere gratitude to Mrs. Lissy James, Quality
Controller at Anchuthara foods for spending her valuable time with
me, showing around the functioning of the company and as well as
explaining all the details.
Finally special thanks to everyone who have helped me directly and
indirectly for successful completion of this report.




COMPANY PROFILE
M/s. Anchuthara Food Products ,Poochakal ,Cherthala,
AlapuzhaDist.,Kerala was established in 1998 as a sole proprietorship
firm.It was established with the sole object of exporting high quality ,
safe vegetable and non-vegetable pickle products to customers and
consumers all over India and Middle East.The proprietorof the
company Mr.James Zacharias started his career as a supplier of raw
materials to fish and shrimp processing companies around Cochin in
1980 and later he started his own pickle manufacturing unit in
1998.The firm started its operations in a very small scale as a supplier
of fish and prawn pickles to Melam. Then it got expanded and later it
became the leading manufacturers and suppliers of all kind of veg and
non-veg pickles of top brands in India such as DoubleHorse,
TasteBuds, Melam etc. By 2000,the firm launched its own brand
named LOVELY which was concentrated mainly on foreign
markets. Initially it was dealing with pickles only. But, within the past
15 years company through the diversified experience and maximum
efforts of the team, has become the leading exporters and
manufacturers of pickles, frozen porotta, vegetables ,snacks and other
food stuffs. It has mainly 3 units in Kerala, which has got European
Unions (EU) approval for the export of fish and prawns pickle to
European countries. By 2010, company changed its status from a sole
proprietorship firm to Partnership Firm. Mr.James Zacharias and his
wife Lissy James are the managing partners of the company. The
factory now function with fully automatic imported machines and
sound labour force. The company has implemented regular ,
systematic and scientific methodology of quality assurance to produce
safe and high quality products in order to meet the emerging
challenges in the international market. The aim of the company is to
produce hazard free and safe food products and thus achieving
customer satisfaction.

DEPARTMENTS IN THE COMPANY
There are mainly four departments functioning efficiently in the firm.
They are as follows:-
1. PRODUCTION DEPARTMENT
2. SALES DEPARTMENT
3. FINANCE& MARKETING DEPARTMENT
4. QUALITY CONTROL DEPARTMENT (QC)
5. HRM DEPARTMENT

1.PRODUCTION DEPARTMENT:-
As the firm is concentrating more on manufacturing process,
production is the most inevitable function of the firm.Production
process involves conversion of raw materials into finished
products.Anchuthara foods mainly focus on production of vegetable
as well as non-vegetable pickles.Many steps are involved in this
process.Before carrying out the production process,all the required
inputs are gone through necessary tests by the approved technologist
of the company.As per the objective of the firm,it tries to reduce
wastage of resources by its maximum utilisation in a cost effective
manner.Whileprocessing,it keeps in mind the end results;quality and
customer satisfaction.

Production process can be well explained with the
help of an example.Lets see the process involved in the manufacture
of prawn pickle with the help of a flow chart:-









2. SALES DEPARTMENT:-
In this firm domestic sales are done with branded
companies,ie; food products which are manufactured within the firm
are been outsourced by various leading brands.But goods are exported
in company brand named LOVELY.there are separate sections in the
company to deal with domestic and foreign trade.All the sales and
transactions are mainted properly by sales head.

3. FINANCE&MARKETING DEPARTMENT:-
The financial systems have been prepared under the
historical cost convention in accordance with the generally accepted
accounting principles and provisions under The Partnership
Act,1932.The firm follows a mercantile system of accounting.
Anchuthara food products is a partnership firm owned by two private
individuals .So the company has not issued its shares to
public.So,shares are handled by the partners itself.
As the firm is a manufacturing & exporting
concern,marketing strategies in a wide scale are not
adopted.Therefore marketing activities are controlled by the
Managing Partner himself.He acts as the Marketing Manager.

4. QUALITY ASSURANCE DEPARTMENT:-
Being a manufacturing concern,the firm has to give more importance
to quality of products ,specially when it is regarding food items.The
partner of the firm Lissy James plays the role of Quality
Controller(QC).It is the duty of the partner to ensure the quality of the
product by interacting with the quality and production departments.In



charge of all the monitoring and verification activities.If any problem
arises,the QC has to discuss with the Mg.Partner.

5.HRM (Human Resource Management):-
The Human Resource Department is handled by the co-
partner of the firm. New workers are appointed with reference from
the existing workers. Employees are appointed by the Mg.Partner and
the other partner. Salary is fixed according to the seniority and
positions of the employees. Wages are paid according to the minimum
wages act to the workers. Company also provides additional bonus
and long term incentives. The company is also providing medical care
facilities, financial counselling, vacation traveling etc.
Anchuthara Foods is maintaining good relations with the employees
that lead to achieve the organizational goal efficiently. But grievances
are natural to rise in an organization where large number of workers
are employed. So grievances are handled in the company by open
survey methods and open door policy. If any grievances occur in the
company, the management will take immediate action by giving
proper guidelines and training to the employees.




CONCLUSION
Through the 30 days industrial attachment programme, I came to
understand the functioning of an organisation, their organisation
structure, the way they deal with their clients, their efficient
management, etc. As a student of management it is not only necessary
to study the theory, but also familiarise ourselves with its practical
aspects, which I was able to achieve through this industrial attachment
programme.
