Narrative
Republic of the Philippines
Department of Education
Region IV MIMAROPA
DIVISION OF MARINDUQUE

The ultimate goal of education is to provide its people an access to a better life or
better opportunity as a contributing factor of human development. Education focus on
enhancing the academic, personal and professional development of learners to meet the
changing needs of society, employers and economy towards globalization.

Students should be equipped with 21
st
century skills to prepare them for ASEAN
Economic Community and to become globally competitive. To meet this demands and to
implement the K to 12 Enhanced Basic Education Curriculum teachers should answer
the call for Professional Growth. In the TECH-VOC Track taking National Certificates and
Trainers Methodology are some of them. Teacher should learn new things to make
difference.

Trainers Methodology Program is very appropriate and helpful it will contribute to
the personal and professional development of the participant/trainers/teachers. It consists
of competencies a TVET trainer performing functions and assessor must achieve. A TVET
trainer/teacher is a person who enables a learner or a group of learners to develop
competencies to performing a particular trade or technical work.

The seminar proper started with a popular praise song followed by the singing of
the national anthem. A heart-warming welcome remarks was delivered by the OIC of
Marinduque National High School, the host school in the person of Fe Padolina immediately
followed by a message and orientation from Mr. Rolito Dela Cruz, Education Program
Supervisor in TLE. He asked the participants to introduce themselves one by one. Each
participants shared something about themselves and their journey with TLE.
After they got to know each other, the lead facilitator Mrs. Rosarie Paras Vocational
Instruction Supervisor of Torrijos Poblacion School of Arts and Trade introduced the other
facilitators; Mrs. Ma. Jhenevie F. De Luna and Isabelo L. Malilay. Before lunch the
orientation and overview of the Program was presented including discussion of the
Competency-based Training.
The afternoon session started with brain breaking warm-up Pre-Test followed by a
short lecture given by Mrs. Rosarie Paras
After the discussion she grouped the trainees into four. They were assigned in four
different workstations namely: Plan, Maintain, Supervise and Utilize. These workstations
have different activities that the trainees should accomplished.
I ntroduction
OpeningP rogram
The facilitator assigned a Management Committee for Monday thru Friday who will
be in charge for the routinely opening exercises. Daily Activities includes prayer, National
Anthem, Recap and energizer.

Daily opening exercises serves as stress reliever of the participants. They always wait for
the surprise energizer and they are all energetic in doing it. They are also very excited to watch the
recap prepared by each group.

The daily activities seems to be monotonous after the opening exercises the trainees
will face their computer to do their tasks.
Trainees must complete all output using required templates, after that they should
take a computer based quiz and oral questioning before they will be allowed to move into
another workstation. The training methodology used was Competency Based training.
They were able to fully experience the methodology that they will utilize in teaching Tech-
Voc Track.
The first four workstations (WS) were Plan, Maintain, Supervise and Utilize. The
trainers must be able to accomplish all output pass the computer based test and oral exams
in the four workstations in order for them to move to the two remaining WS namely
Facilitate and Conduct. In Facilitate WS the trainees/participants should be able to
demonstrate the skills needed in directing a training. The trainees should be able to show
the delivery process of Competency Based Training such as orientation, initial assestment,
training proper etc. While in Conduct WS it details the requirements for organizing
assessment activities, preparing the candidate, gathering and evaluating evidence,
recording assessment outcomes and providing feedback.

Additional facilitator Mrs. Noelina Ricafranca arrived on the third day of the training
to assist the participants.
Since the method used was CBT less discussion was imposed the trainees should
read and understand the topics by themselves to be able to pass in the written and oral
examination while at the same time accomplishing the required outputs.
Independent learning was highly encouraged. Participants discovered a lot of things
during the training and as the saying goes experience is the best teacher hence they really
learned a lot.
The training can be considered as time pressured thou for those who can finish the
output earlier can move to other workstation. Most of them spent additional time at home
to finish the outputs.

Activities
The participants learned how to use multimedia equipment specifically present a
lesson through direct video footage; present lesson via film viewing method and utilize
computer and multimedia technology to present a lesson
The facilitators did their best to perform their duties. They plan, guide and manage
the group event to ensure that the group's objectives were met effectively. They checked
the outputs one by one and conduct oral questioning they ensures that resources required
for assessment, as specified in the Evidence Guide and assessment tools, are obtained,
checked and arrange within a safe and accessible assessment environment. They made sure
that the skills required for a TRAINER are evident. There were no exemption to the rule all
trainers were able to accomplished everything before receiving their certificates.
The training is a very rigid training but the trainers acquired different skills, values
and discipline. TM is different from other training the usual training typically teach the
trainees what to do but TM shows how to do it.

The program was made simple but elegant since the visitors are the higher officials
of TESDA and DEPED Marinduque. The program was graced by Maria Magdalena M. Lim
Schools Division Superintendent, Laida M. Mascareas OIC Office of the Assistant Division
Superintendent, Myra Regencia- Administrative Officer IV of TESDA Marinduque and Fe
Padolina- OIC of MNCHS.
The program started with a doxology followed by the singing of the national anthem
conducted by Rizon M. Macailao from Sibuyao NHS. The first message was given by Maam
Laida M. Mascareas; three participant gave their impression and insight about the training
they are Manchueta O. Nacawili from Kilo-Kilo NHS, Medardo M. Libanan from Mogpog
NCHS and Concepcion J. Mambil from Punong NHS; a response to the impression was
presented by means of a video presentation from the group of facilitators.
The program includes presentation of graduates by Maam Jhenevie and
Confirmation of graduates by Maam Rosarie. The Challenge was given by Maam Myra
Regencia and Maam Maria Magdalena M. Lim followed by the acceptance of the Challenge
by Vincent Camofrom MNHS and Rowena Loto- TIC of Putting Buhangin National High
School.
Awarding of certificates and picture taking was the last part. A snack was also
prepared by the participants and a small token of appreciation was given to the four
facilotors.

There were 32 registered participants but as the training goes on some of them
withdrawn maybe due to pressure and stress. Computer Literacy is a pre requisite of the
program but since most of the teachers were not informed some of them were not

knowledgeable enough in basic computer operations. It is difficult for them to cope up
since all outputs are computer and digital based.
Despite of proper scheduling and even the facilitators used Activity Matrix, Progress
and Achievement Chart there are still participants who were not able to beat the deadline
they extended the time in order for everybody to finish the activities.

Efficient and effective training and development of teachers is an essential element
for a success in curriculum implementation. Continuing growth is very essential especially
now a days that challenges lies ahead among teachers who are front liners of the journey of
K to 12 enhanced Basic Education Curriculum. The Trainer Methodology 1 doesnt provide
an easy way or shortcut but an express way in how to conduct training and to become an
effective trainer using the Competency Based Curriculum.
The program is a useful tool not only for the teachers of TLE/TECHVOC but for those
teachers who are also teaching academic subjects. Thru the experiences of the teachers
they will be able to adjust their teaching scheme in order to
This training truly enhanced the skills and capability of a teacher to become an
effective facilitator; not a spoon feeder but a manager of learners who creatively guides the
students to maximize their full potential.
