SWOT Analysis

Main Opportunity
1) New weight-classes are springing up due to the high supply of
women fighters and demand from viewers for diversity in
weight for women UFC bouts.
Strengths
2) Both fighters, especially Ronda Rousey, are portrayed as role
models and leaders for other female UFC fighters. UFC
President Dana White has dubbed Rousey the catalyst for which
female viewership and participation in the UFC has increased in
the least five years. As the two team managers on the eighteenth
season of the show The Ultimate Fighter (TUF), both women,
Rousey and Miesha Tate have become household names in a
male dominated sport. The two women will square off yet again
in the octagon in the professional fighting capital of the world,
Las Vegas, Nev. On the main card fighting for the Womens
Bantamweight Championship Rousey and Tate will be the
preluding fight before the main event. With an already
established following, due to the high viewership of The
Ultimate Fighter and Rousey being the highest-viewed UFC
woman fighter, the rematch is expected to exceed expectations
and break viewership records. The fight package, the main
events plus the preliminary fights, will be available for
purchase in more than four different mediums. Viewers will
have the options of buying the fight through either cable, or
satellite, television, or set box, the web, and/or tablet, or mobile
device.

Weaknesses
3) Ratings for women UFC match-ups in TUF are inconsistent and
declining.

Opportunities
4) Both fighters will be the first female characters on the themed
video-game UFC Undisputed.
5) New weightclass for women. 115-pound Womens division.
6) #GirlFight will help raise awareness of UFC 168 and will serve
as the main point of research in accumalting traffic data for
Rousey vs Tate in social media.
Threats
7) UFC President Dana White shocked fans of the hit show The
Ultimate Fighter (TUF) when he announced that the eighteenth
season would consist of two coed teams managed by two
women. Following tradition of TUF both managers will face
each other in the octagon for the final match between the two
teams. Fighting once before through Strikeforce, Ronda Rousey
and Miesha Tate will fight in UFC 168 approximately one
month following the season finale TUF. Experts believe this to
be a problem for they estimate that the hype will have died
down in that time span. In the past eighteen seasons of the show
the managers have either fought in organized competitions, or
the fight was the season finale. The Ultimate Fighter Season 18
ends and the final fight between both team managers will not
take place until a month after the season finale. Experts
anticipate a lackluster fight since because of the month break.
Although Rousey and Tate will be a main card fight their bout
is before the main event, Weidman versus Silva Part II. It is
expected that their fight will be overshadowed.
