2 In the name of Allh the Beneficent, the Merciful. 3
O Allh! I ask You, By your mercy, which covers all things, 4 by Your power, which overpowers all things, 5 and to which everything submits and is humble. 6
By Your might, by which You overcome all things. 7
By Your glory, before which nothing stands. 8
By Your magnificence, which fills all things. 9
By Your authority, which rises over all things. 10
By Your face (i.e. essence), which remains after the destruction of all things. 11
By Your names (attributes) which manifest Your power over all things. 12
By Your knowledge, which encompasses all things. 13
And, by the light of Your face (i.e. essence), through which all things shine. 14
O Light, O most Holy, 15
O First of those who are first, 16
and Last of those who are last! 17
O Allh! Forgive me those sins, which tear apart modesty. 18
O Allh! Forgive me those sins, which bring down misfortunes. 19
O Allh! Forgive me those sins, which alter blessings. 20
O Allh! Forgive me those sins, which hold back supplication. 21
O Allh! Forgive me those sins, which bring down distress. 22 O Allh! Forgive me every sin that I have committed, 23
and every mistake that I have made. 24
O Allh! I approach You by Your remembrance, 25
seek Your intercession through Yourself, 26
and ask You by Your generosity, to bring me closer to You, 27 to bestow upon me (the ability to) thank you, 28 and to inspire me to Your remembrance. 29 O Allh! I ask You as a (person who is) submissive, humble and obedient, 30 to treat me kindly, to have mercy on me, 31 BcB _ CC CBn tQ `W CBX and to make me satisfied, content, and humble in all circumstances. 32 O Allh! I ask You as a person whose poverty is intense, 33 who presents his need only to You, 34 and whose desire is great for what (only) You have. 35
O Allh! Great is Your authority, exalted is Your place, 36
unknown is Your plan, clear is Your command, 37 overwhelming is Your might, unhindered is Your power, 38 and escape from Your judgement is impossible. 39 O Allh! I cannot find anyone who can forgive my sins, cover my ugly misdeeds, 40 or change my misdeeds to good, except You. 41
There is no god but You. Glory and praise be to You. 42 I have wronged myself, I dared (to sin) because of my ignorance, 43 but I have depended on Your eternal remembrance of me, and Your (continuous) grace on me. 44
O Allh! O my Protector! How many ugly (deeds) You have concealed! 45
How many heavy misfortunes You have lifted! 46 How many stumbles You have prevented! 47 How many ordeals You have repelled! 48 How many graceful praises, which I am not worthy of, You have spread! 49 O Allh! My distress is great, my sorry plight exceeded the limits, 50 my deeds are inadequate, my chains have kept me down, 51 and, my desires have withheld me from my (own advantages). 52 The world has deceived me by its illusion, 53 and my soul by its offenses, and my postponement. 54 O my Master! I ask You by Your might, 55
not to let my ugly deeds and acts conceal my supplication from You, 56 not to disgrace me by exposing what is secret of my (acts), which (only) You are aware of, 57 not to hasten the punishment of what I have done secretly, 58 such as, my ugly deeds, my offenses, 59 my continuous negligence, my ignorance, 60 my manifold passions, and my forgetfulness. 61 O Allh! By Your might, Be compassionate to me in all circumstances, 62 and have grace on me on all matters. 63 My God and my Lord! 64 Whom can I ask beside You, to remove my affliction, 65
and to look into my affairs? 66 My God and my Protector! 67 You have laid on me rules (to follow), but I followed my own whims. 68 I did not remain wary of adorning my enemy. 69 Therefore, he was (able to) deceive me through my desires, 70 and destiny favored him in this (matter). 71 Thus I exceeded Your limits by violation of Your rules, 72 and disobeyed some of Your commands. 73
Therefore, Yours is the argument against me in all of that, 74 and I have no argument (regarding) Your judgment against me, 75
nor in what Your decree and tribulation imposed upon me. 76 I come to You, My God, after my shortcoming, 77 and my immoderation against myself, 78
acknowledging, submissive, confessing. 81 I do not find any way out from what I have done, 82 nor any place of refuge to turn to about my affairs, 83 other than Your acceptance of my apology, 84 and Your entering me into the range of Your mercy. 85 O Allh! Therefore, accept my apology, 86
have mercy upon the severity of my affliction, 87 and free me from the tightness of my chains. 88 O Lord! Have mercy upon the weakness of my body, 89 the thinness of my skin, 90
and the frailty of my bones. 91 O You who gave rise to my creation, my remembrance, 92 my upbringing, my welfare and nourishment, 93
bestow upon me, for the sake of Your having given rise (to me), with generosity, and Your previous goodness to me! 94 O my God, my Master, and my Lord! 95
Can You see me punished with Your fire after my belief in Your unity, 96 after my heart recognizes You, 97 and my tongue speaks continuously of Your remembrance, 98 and my mind believes in Your love? 99 After my true confession and humble supplication to Your lordship? 100 Far be it from You! You are too generous to abandon one whom You have nurtured, 101 or to push away from (Your mercy) one whom You have (already) brought near, 102 or to drive away one whom You have given shelter, 103 or to leave to misfortune one whom You have spared and shown mercy. 104 I wish I knew, O my Master, my God, my Protector, 105 how You could impose fire on faces, which fall down prostrating to Your magnificence, 106 oxQ UjC{ kcXQ Y ~~tF ~~~~ UcjC and on tongues which have already sincerely declared Your unity, and have always been thankful, 107 and on hearts which surely acknowledge Your divinity, 108
and on minds which possess knowledge of You until they become humble, 109 and on limbs which obediently moved to places of Your worship, and beckoned for Your forgiveness in submission. 110 No such opinion is held of You! 111 Nor have we heard of (such a result), thanks to Your bounty, concerning You, O the most Generous. 112 O Lord! You know my weakness (to endure) a small portion of worldly misfortune, its punishments and difficulties, 113 which fall upon its inhabitants, 114 even though it is a misfortune and difficulty, whose stay is short, whose subsistence is little, and whose duration is short. 115 How then can I bear the misfortune of the hereafter, 116 and the occurrence of difficulties within it? 117
For it is a misfortune whose duration will be long, 118 whose situation will continue, 119
and whose sufferers are given no respite, 120 because it occurs as a result of Your wrath, vengeance, and anger, 121 and these cannot be withstood by the Heavens and the Earth. 122 O my Master! So what about me? 123
For I am Your weak, insignificant, low, poor, and humble servant. 124 O my God, my Lord, my Master, and my Protector! 125 About which of my affairs shall I complain to You, 126 and for which shall I lament and weep? 127 For the grievous punishment and its intensity, 128 or for the length of misfortune and its duration? 129 Therefore, if You take me to the punishment with Your enemies, 130 gather me with the people of Your misfortunes, 131 and separate me from those who love You and those who adore You, 132 then, O my God, my Master, my Lord, 133 suppose that I am patient with Your punishment, 134 how then, would I be patient with my separation from You? 135 Suppose that I would be patient with the heat of Your fire, 136 how then, would I endure not looking up to Your generosity? 137 Or how would I dwell in fire, while I hope for Your forgiveness? 138 I swear by Your might, O my Master and my Protector! 139 if You leave me with (the power) of speech, 140
I will cry out to You from among the inhabitants (of Hell) like those who cry out of hope, 141 I will scream like those who scream (for help), 142 I will weep like those who have lost hope, 143 and I will call You (saying), Where are You, O the Protector of believers! 144 O Goal of the hopes of those who know (You)! 145 O the Helper of those who appeal for help! 146
O the Beloved of the sincere! 147 and O the Lord of the worlds! 148 Can You see Yourself, Glory be to You, O my God, and Yours is the praise, 149 hearing within the fire, the voice of a submissive servant, 150
who is imprisoned within (the fire) because of his disobedience, 151 tasting the flavor of its punishments for his resistance, 152 confined within the layers (of the Hell) for his sins and crimes, 153 while he cries as one who hopes for your mercy, 154 calls You with the tongue of those who profess Your unity, 155 and requests You by Your lordship! 156 O my Protector! Then how (can Your servant) remain in pain, 157 while he has hope for Your past leniency? 158 Or how can the fire hurt him, 159
while he has hope in Your kindness and compassion? 160 Or how can the fire hurt him, 161 while You hear his voice and see his place? 162 Or how can the exhaling (of the fire) cover him, 163
while You know his weakness? 164 Or how can he be immersed in its layers, 165
while You know his sincerity? 166 Or how can the (fires) guards hold him back, 167 while he calls out to You, O my Lord! 168 Or how should he have hope of Your grace in freeing him from the fire while You abandon him within it? 169 Far be it from You! That is not expected of You, 170
nor is it known of Your grace, 171 nor is it similar to the kindness and generosity with which You have treated the believers in Your unity. 172 Therefore, I am certain that had You not decreed punishment for the disbelievers in You, 173 and to leave the opposers (in the fire) that lasts forever, 174 then You would have made the fire totally cold and peaceful, 175 and no one would have any place in it, neither permanently, nor even for a short time. 176 But You, Holy are Your Names, have sworn, 177 that You will fill it with unbelievers from the jinn and humankind (alike), 178 and that the unbelievers will last in it forever. 179 And You, great is Your praise, said in the beginning, 180 and (by Your) generosity, extended the grace, 181 Is he who is a believer like the one who is not? No they cannot be alike. (32:18) 182 O my Lord and my Master! 183
I ask You, by the power which You have enforced, 184 by Your divine decree, which You have determined and imposed, 185 and through which You have overcome him toward whom it has been put into effect, 186 that You forgive me in this night, and at this moment, 187 every offence I have committed, 188
every sin I have performed, 189 every ugly deed I have kept secret, 190
every folly I have enacted, 191 whether kept secret, or disclosed, 192
concealed, or manifest, 193 and every evil act which You have ordered the noble scribes to record, 194 those whom You appointed to watch over what is done by me, 195 and whom You made, along with my limbs, witnesses against me, 196 And You are the Watcher over me from behind them, 197 and the witness of what is hidden from them, 198 but through Your mercy You concealed it, and through Your grace covered it. 199 And (I ask You) that You increase my share of all the good You send down, 200 or kindness which You confer, 201
or goodness You unfold, 202 or provision You spread, 203
or sins You forgive, 204
or mistakes You conceal. 205 O Lord, O Lord, O Lord!
206
O my God, my Master, my Protector, 207 Master of my freedom! 208
O He who in whose hands is my forelock, 209 O He who knows my affliction and my misery, 210 O He who is well acquainted with my poverty and need, 211
O Lord, O Lord, O Lord! 212 I ask You by Yourself, Your Holiness, 213 Your great Attributes and Names, 214 That You make my times in the night and the day inhabited by Your remembrance, 215
and joined to Your service, 216 and my deeds acceptable to You, 217 so that my deeds and my litanies may all become one litany, 218 and my (life be) devoted to Your service, eternally. 219 O my Master! O He upon whom I depend! 220 O He to whom alone I complain about my situation! 221
O Lord, O Lord, O Lord! 222 Strengthen my limbs for Your service, 223 fortify my ribs in determination, 224
grant me eagerness in Your fear, 225 continuity in service to You, 226 so that I may move towards You among those who are first in their fields, 227 hurry to You among those who are prominent, 228 yearn toward Your nearness among those who are eager, 229 become close to You with the closeness of those who are sincere, 230
fear You with the fear of those who are certain, 231 and join with the believers in Your presence. 232 O Allh! Whoever wishes me evil, wish him (the same), 233 and whoever wants to deceive me, deceive him. 234 Make me among the best of Your servants, 235
the closest in status to You, 236 the most privileged to You. 237
For that cannot be attained without Your grace. 238 Grant me generously, by Your generosity. 239 Have sympathy toward me, by Your glory. 240
Protect me, by Your mercy. 241 Make my tongue dedicated to Your remembrance, 242 and my heart subservient to Your love. 243
Be gracious to me by answering me favorably, 244 prevent my stumbling, and forgive my lapses. 245 For You have demanded Your servants to worship You, 246
ordered them to call upon You, 247 and assured them of Your fulfillment (of their requests). 248 Therefore toward You, O Lord, I have turned my face, 249 and toward You, O Lord, I have extended my hands. 250 So by Your might, answer my supplication, 251
make me attain my desire. 252 Do not cut off, by Your grace, my hope, 253 and protect me from the evil of my enemies from among the jinn and humankind. 254
O He whose pleasure is quickly achieved! 255 Forgive him who has nothing but prayer, 256
for You do what You please. 257 O He whose name is a remedy, 258
whose remembrance is a cure, 259 and whose obedience is wealth! 260 Have mercy on him whose capital is hope, 261
and whose weapon is tears. 262
O He who provides ample blessings, and who removes misfortunes! 263
O the Light of those who are lonely in darkness! 264
O He who knows without being taught! 265 Bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, 266 and do with me what is worthy of You. 267 And may Allh bless His messenger, 268
and the blessed Imms of his household, 269 and give them abundant peace! 270 O Allh send Your blessings on Muhammad and the family of Muhammad.
