Hero MotoCorp has finally updated its flagship products,
the Karizma R and Karizma ZMR. Both bikes hae cared
out a niche segment of their o!n, positioning themseles
as !onderful tourers as !ell a practical eeryday
bikes, okay okay at least the Karizma R has
"hile the company had sho!cased these facelifts a fe!
months back and officially promised a launch in March,
they hae, only ery recently, gone on sale. "ell, this
procrastination has not made them any prettier, but
prospectie customers are pretty e#cited about the bikes.
$he Karizma R !as launched !ay back in %&&' and it
became a great success. (t captured the imagination of all,
thanks to its easy handling and a huge )at that time* %%'cc
motor, sourced from the Honda CR+ %'& supermoto series
of motorcycles.

Differences in old Karizma & 2014 Karizma:
Power Increase, $he most significant change is the
increment in po!er. Karizma R gets a fairly decent
po!er bump of %.%bhp but the peak po!er no! comes
-&& rpm later. $his may mean a more meatier po!er
band.
Torque Increase, .e#t big change is the tor/ue
increment of 0.m !hich comes at e#actly the same rpm.
$his should mean more effortless load pulling capability
and lesser gearshifts.
Higher To !eed: "ith all this po!er and tor/ue
bump, ne! Karizma has a slightly higher claimed top
speed of 0%1kmph.
"e##er $ccelera#ion: $he increment in po!er has
meant a &.% second adantage in the &21&kmph sprint.
3gain these are claimed figures.
Increased %eigh#: But for some reason, ne!
Karizma has put on some !eight, a full 4 kgs at that.
%ider T&res: $hankfully, Hero has lent the ne!
Karizma !ith fatter tyres and the rear finally gets the
much desering )asthetically at least* 0%&mm rubber.
3long !ith being !ide, they are also tubeless.
%ha# has remained same:
+uel tank capacity stands at 0- liters, though Hero has
not shared the resere capacity.
$he front and rear brakes also continue to be %51mm
)front disc* 6 0'&mm )rear drum*. $here is no option of
rear disc for %&04 Karizma7
$he !attage of front headlamps also continue to be
'-" but there are t!o of them no!. Ho!eer, only one
is lightable at a time7
.e! Karizma also continues !ith the same -2step
ad8ustable hydraulic shock absorbers and Hero hasn9t
felt the need for a monoshock, yet7
Rest the chassis, transmission and other mechanicals
continue to be the same.
'osme#ic 'hanges:
$he redesigned fairing has got its fair share of
criticism but it does attract a significant group of
audience.
$he :;< position lamps and the dual dynamic
headlamps look outdated but hae a typical Buell aura.
$he eyebro! like pilot lamps, ho!eer, look attractie
specially during night7
$he rear tail lamps also get :;<s and seem to hae
been inspired from the Royal ;nfield $hunderbird.
$he familiar instrumentation console looks
interesting. $he !ider tires should help in increasing the
handling pro!ess, as a thin rear tire has been one of the
prime complaints of the older Karizma.
$he redesigned under co!l looks sportier than in the
preious generation, split seats a ne! split grab rail
though fail to gie a lasting impression.
