The Anglican Clergy of
the West Coast had a
wonderful retreat with
the Bishop, his wife and
team at Hanmer for a
couple of nights during the week. What
was encouraging was the Bishop's
challenge to make sure that as
ministers we were making time for God
personally and not just encouraging
others to do it. Too often Clergy can
get trapped by busyness and the fact
that they get paid to do the work and
can push personal devotions into the
background. The danger in doing this
of course is that we become dry and
stale ourselves and lose the freshness
that comes from a regular time with
God for ourselves.
Personally I read a chapter of
the Bible everyday and pray casually
throughout the day however I came
away from the retreat challenged to
expand that time and to do more with
it.
I also know though that
personal devotions can be challenging
