Available Volunteer Internship Positions


Each Intern will work under the leadership oI a staII person Irom the department to which
they are assigned and will be provided with hands-on experience and speciIic project respon-
sibility. Since, the Volunteer Internship program is based on the expressed need oI each de-
partment we cannot guarantee an opportunity will be available in every department. Most oI
the opportunities are in the Cable Department. SpeciIically, such areas include the Iollowing:

Cable Department: Hands on experience through camera operation, tape catalog, and writing
Ior programs. Assists cable staII with shoots and production. The Cable Interns will meet
every Thursday at 2 p.m. as well as varying times throughout the week and weekend during
the summer.

Other Departments (on an as needed basis):

Senior Citizens Center: Assist with lunches, reception area, and special events including
planning, coordination and execution oI the events. Best iI student has some hours available
Monday through Thursday 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Gymnasium: Volunteer coaching, assists parent volunteers with coaching basketball and/or
assists with tot gym programs. Summer hours oI availability are Tuesday, Thursday and Fri-
day Irom 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Fall, winter, and spring hours oI availability are Monday
through Friday Irom 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Camps/AIter School Programs: Junior counselors Ior Camp Crawdad, Movin` and Groovin`
and the aIter school programs (Camps Oswalt and Trojan). Assists staII with coordination and
execution oI Community Services programs.

City Manager`s OIIice: Interns in the City Manager`s OIIice will assist management staII
with various administrative tasks that may include human resources, public relations and
community outreach, public saIety, and risk management.

Finance Department: Interns in the Finance Department assist staII with general clerical du-
ties such as data entry (i.e. invoices, claim vouchers, and receipts).
