My Faith Looks Up To Thee I Am On The Battlefield
Verse I Chorus
My faith looks up to Thee, I am on the battlefield for my Lord,
Thou Lamb of Calvary, Savior divine! I’m on the battlefield for my Lord;
Now hear me while I pray, And I promised Him that I would serve Him till I die.
Take all my guilt away, I’m on the battlefield for my Lord.
O let me from this day be wholly Thine!
Verse I
Verse II I was alone and idle, I was a sinner too,
May Thy rich grace impart I heard a voice from heaven, Say there is work to do,
Strength to my fainting heart, My zeal inspire; I took the Master’s hand,
As Thou hast died for me, And I joined the Christian band,
O may my love to Thee I’m on the battlefield for my Lord.
Pure, warm and changeless be, A living fire! (Repeat Chorus)

Verse III Verse II

While life’s dark maze I tread, I left my friends and kindred
And griefs around me spread, Bound for the Promised Land,
Be Thou my guide; The grace of God upon me, The Bible in my hand,
Bid darkness turn today, In distant lands I trod,
Wipe sorrow’s tears away, Crying sinner come to God,
Nor let me ever stray from Thee aside. I’m on the battlefield for my Lord.
(Repeat Chorus)
Verse IV
When ends life’s transient dream, Verse III
When death’s cold, sullen stream shall o’er me roll; Now when I met my Savior,
Blest Savior, then, in love, I met Him with a smile,
Fear and distrust remove; He healed my wounded spirit,
O bear me safe above, A ransomed soul! And owned me as His child,
Around the throne of grace,
He appoints my soul a place,
I’m on the battlefield for my Lord.
(Repeat Chorus)

— Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. ing. When everyone is so busy, sometimes stew-
ardship of time and also talent (which requires
time) can get “lost in the shuffle.” We should
remember, however, that stewardship doesn’t
prevent us from accomplishing other things.
When we’re mowing someone’s lawn or rak-
ing leaves for a shut-in, we are exercising, even
though we haven’t been to the gym lately. When
we help wash dishes during a church dinner or
make sandwiches for the homeless, we have the
opportunity to visit with people we might not
see otherwise; and socializing helps us feel better
when things are rough elsewhere.
God knows about these benefits. Perhaps part of
the reason God commands us to be good stewards
of time is to help ourselves, not just others.
