One of those days Jesus went out to a mountainside to pray, and
spent the night praying to God. 13 When morning came, he called his
disciples to him and chose twelve of them, whom he also designated
apostles: 14 Simon (whom he named Peter), his brother Andrew, James,
John, Philip, Bartholomew, 15 Matthew, Thomas, James son of Alphaeus,
Simon who was called the Zealot, 16 Judas son of James, and Judas
Iscariot, who became a traitor. 17 He went down with them and stood on a level place. A large crowd of his disciples
was there and a great number of people from all over Judea, from Jerusalem, and from the coastal region around
Tyre and Sidon, 18 who had come to hear him and to be healed of their diseases. Those troubled by impure spirits
were cured, 19 and the people all tried to touch him, because power was coming from him and healing them all.
Shuttle Tournament
Syro Malabar Cultural Academy is organizing a Shuttle
tournament. The event will be on Saturday, Aug 23rd
@ 9:00 AM. The games will be in doubles format. Please

friday, august 15th in Kerala.The
funeral will be on Sunday, 17th
in st. xavier's church pothanikadu,
muvattupuzha, kerala. Roy Joseph

brought the Holy relic of ST. Thomas
from Orthona, Italy during the
ST.Thomas feast in our Cathedral
on July, 2006 and also celebrated
the first Holy Mass on Sunday the
July 6th, 2008 during the Cathedral
inauguration. Currently, Archbishop

The Episcopal Ordination of Mar Joy Alappat will be held on Saturday
September 27th here at the Cathedral Church at 9.00 am. All are invited
to this program.
Marriage preparation classes will be held on 26 through 28 September 2014
Blessed Chavara and Euphrasia will be elevated as Saints in Vatican on
November 23 rd 2014. A pilgrimage has been arranged in the Banner of SyroMalabar Diocese
Chicago. The pilgrimage will go from Chicago on November 16th and return on 25th November.
Those who would like to join please register your name with deposit amount. The total price for
this trip will be $2400.
The registration for CCD, Malayalam Classes and Cultural Academy has been started.
On 31st August, after Holy Masses at 8.00 am and 9.30 am, there will be opportunity for
Ezhuthiniruth for the children.
September 6th we will celebrate the Feast of Blessed Virgin Mary at the Grotto. In preparation
of this Ettu Nayambu feast we observe eight days of fasting and prayer starting on August 30th
through September 6th Saturday. There will be Rosary Procession to the Grotto immediately
after morning Mass on 30th Saturday and 31st Sunday, following days Monday through
Saturday mass will be at 7.00 pm.
Archbishop Mar Joseph Chennoth Apostolic Nuncio of Japan will visit our Cathedral Church
and say Holy Mass at 8.00 am on August 24th Sunday.
There will be special adoration for the episcopal ordination of Mar Joy Alappatt every day
except Sunday 5.30 pm to 6.30 pm.
Today we will observe as the prayer day for the victims of war in Iraq and other countries
St. Tomas Syro-Malabar Catholic Diocese of Chicago is implementing the Charter for the
Protection of Children and Young People mandated by United States Conference of Catholic
Bishops. Please see our diocese website child safety program for more information on how we
are implementing the program. A Key element of this charter is to provide "Safe Environment"
training to all diocesan clergy/employees/teachers/volunteers/parents/children.
For those of you who have not attended a training session for clergy/employees/teachers/volunt-
eers, a training session is arranged in our church on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at 4:00. Register
for the training at Virtus website. Tis training is mandatory.
Safe Environment Training
For those of you have not attended a training/awareness session for parents, 2 training sessions are arranged in our
church on Sunday, October 15, 2014 (9:20am & 10:15am - each session is 30 minutes long). Registration happens
at the training session.
Training for children are arranged in association with CCD classes.
We sincerely appreciate your cooperation and participation to provide a Safe Environment for our children and to
enrich our faith.

CCD teachers retreat from Friday August 22 6.30 PM to August 23 4.00 PM. This is mandatory for all
teachers. Please plan to attend.
