WORK EXPERIENCE

1994 to date: Kenyatta National Hospital

Current Position: Executive Assistant to the Chief Executive officer.


RESPONSIBILITIES

Support to Chief Executive Officer
Manage the daily operations of the CEOs office to achieve and ensure the
objectives of sound administrative management of the organization,
Work with Administrative Assistants to filter requests for meetings and strategically
allocating time.
Help manage ad hoc and unplanned needs, either by exercising judgment in
handling independently or with the support of Deputy Directors /Senior Assistant
Directors and/or re-arranging CEO time adequately.
Serve as the first point-of-contact for queries to the CEO, providing both effective
communication about work and applying judgment to triage new contacts.
Serve as the secretary to the Executive Management Committee [take minutes,
circulate minutes and agenda],
Work with the Corporation Secretary on Board of Management activities,
Reviewing/clearing documents and bring matters that need decisions to attention,
Supervise support staff under the Executives office,

Managing internal processes
Support formal management system with initiative teams to review progress,
resolve issues, and support their needs. Ensure follow-ups happen on both ends
Serve as a go-to for staff when CEO is unavailable. Provide advice that reflects
CEO intent.
Manage the logistics of all staff meetings by setting agenda with CEO and ensure
parties are prepared.

Support CEO in preparing senior level internal meetings, e.g. Executive
Management Meeting, Operations Team Meeting, Board meetings, etc..as well as
one-on-one meetings with Cabinet Secretary and Principal Secretary and other
Executive Team members.
Participate in developing organizations reports/documents, i.e. Annual Reports,
Strategic Plan,
Liaise with the Human resources on a regular basis with regards to follow up on
issues and decisions concerning human resources,
Work with the responsible officers in the preparation of and follow-up on progress
made in achieving the CEOs Performance Contract,
Complete special assignments by establishing objectives, determining priorities,
managing time, gaining cooperation of others,
Participate in budget development for the organization,
Monitor action plans for corporate projects and work processes to ensure progress,

External representation
Relationship management with critical stakeholders. Prepare briefs for important
meetings and coordinate follow-up with relevant external & internal staff.
Work with Corporate Communications to assist in preparing documents for
communication (briefing reports, talking points, input into speeches).
