Physical Research Laboratory (PRL), a premier scientific and research institute, is an

autonomous body under the Department of Space, Govt. of India. It has four campuses
including two at Ahmedabad and two observatories, one each at Mt. Abu and Udaipur. PRL is
lookingforasuitablecandidatetofillthepositionofHeadofAdministration,designatedasthe
Registrar. The candidate should be a dynamic and a motivated administrator, fully conversant
withtheadministrativerulesandproceduresinscientificinstitutions.

1.EssentialQualification,Experience
(i) MBA with 14 Years experience in Group A* Services out of which 2 years experience in
Pay Band (PB) 3 of Rs. 1560039100 with Grade Pay of Rs. 7600 as per 6th CPC/erstwhile
scaleofpayofRs.12,00037516,500asper5thCPC.
MBADegree(awardedbyarecognizedUniversity)shouldbearegulardegree(notthrough
distancelearning)inHR/Finance/Banking/Marketing/BusinessAdministration/Public
SystemManagement.**

Post Graduate** with 16 Years experience in Group A* Services out of which 2 years

Scientists (M.Sc.**) with 16 Years experience in Group A* Services out of which 2 years

(ii) CandidateShouldhaveheldresponsibilitiesofHeadofAdministration/Accounts/Purchase
& Stores, and above, for at least 2 years. In case of Scientist, candidate should have
demonstratedadministrativeexperienceinmanagingscientificprojects.
(iii) Administrative experience in scientific laboratories and knowledge in office automation,
computerizationandITisdesirable.
(iv) Candidate Should have good understanding of the service rules and administrative
procedureoftheGovernmentofIndia.
(v) Proficiency,bothwrittenandspoken,inHindiandEnglishisdesirable.

**MBA/PostGraduation/Graduationshouldbearegulardegree(notthroughdistancelearning)
in First Class as awarded by a recognized University. In case of only CGPA, 6.5 CGPA and
abovewillbeconsideredequivalenttoFirstClass.

EssentialConditions:
Experience in the Areas of Administration, should have been obtained after possessing the
qualifyingdegreeasnotedabovefordifferentcriteria.

2.Agelimit:Notmorethan50yearsason30/06/2014.
AgeRelaxationforvariouscategoriesisasfollows.
SC/ST:5years;OBC:3years;

Candidateswith40%ormorephysicaldisabilities:5years(Thisisoverandaboverelaxationof
5yearsand3yearsforSC/STandOBCrespectively).

ExServicemen: Age relaxation to the extent of period of service in Army, Navy and Air Force
plusthreeyears,and,

Five years for employees of Central Govt/Autonomous bodies/PSU and PRL (internal
candidates).

3. Pay Scale: Pay Band 4 (PB4) of Rs. 3740067000 with corresponding Grade Pay of Rs. 8700
plus allowances admissible to the Central Govt. Employees. The total emolument at the
minimum of scale is Rs 1,07,820/ (inclusive of Dearness Allowance, Transport Allowance and
House Rent allowance applicable at Ahmadabad) per month at present. Pay protection for
those,alreadyinthisgradewillbeadmissibleasperGovernmentofIndiarules.

5.SelectionProcess

There will be an initial screening based on the online applications. The criteria for screening
wouldincludefactorssuchaspercentage/gradesobtainedinqualifyingdegree,experience,etc
oranyothercriteriaasdecidedbytheDirector,PRL.

Incaseoflargeresponsereceived,numberofcandidatestobeshortlistedforinterviewwillbe
restrictedtoareasonablenumberasdecidedbytheDirector,PRL.

Reference letters may be sought and hence names of three referees familiar with the
candidatesworkshouldbeprovidedintheonlineapplication.

The screenedin candidates will be interviewed by a selection committee. The candidates will
benotifiedoftheresultinduecourse.

The candidates scoring 60% or more marks in interview shall be considered as suitable for
selectioninorderofmerit.

6.Travellingallowance

OutstationcandidatescalledforinterviewwillbepaidtoandfroEconomyAirFarebyAirIndia

train/busfarebytheshortestroutefromtheaddressgiveninthewebapplicationtotheplace
of interview at actual. Kindly preserve original Boarding Pass in case of Air Travel/Railway
tickets(s)/busticket(s)etc.

7.ServiceConditions

Selected candidate will be posted to work at PRL, at any of its campuses, as decided by the
Director,PRLandisliabletobetransferredtoworkanywhereinIndia,intheinterestofPRL.
The appointees will be governed by the New Pension Scheme unless otherwise eligible for
countingofservicebenefitssubjecttorelevantGoIRulesandifsoopted.

PRL provides facilities like Contributory Health Service Scheme, LTC, Group Insurance etc and
thiswillbeavailabletotheselectedcandidateaswell.
