"TRAIN UP A CHILD IN THE WAY HE SHOULD GO: AND WHEN HE IS OLD, HE WILL NOT DEPART FROM IT." Proverbs 22:6 "Where did we go wrong?" This question is often ask by parents when there teenager or their child has caused a problem in the family and the hurt has now begun and parents begin to search their minds as to what they might have done in the past to have to not come to this type of thinking. We are all victims at one time or another of knowing that something can change this questiong to - "Where did we go right?" I have always wanted to say that and this is my opportunity to share with you the opportunity to have people say-"Where did we go right?" This is to start our Pre-School here at Maili Christian Church. Our scripture give us the challenge of giving a child the right start in life. Too often we have come to blame "the system" when if we would have stopped and thought that we must do our part as adults to check out what is happen ing in the world and to do our part to give a young person the right start in life. At present we are doing our uttmost to get the old Honfed building in Waianae. We would not have to pay anything for the building except for the moving and possible removal of some asbestos in the floor. If it is possible to move the building without cutting it then this problem would be removed also. We are asking that all of you who read this be in constant prayer that this will be one of the ways that we can change that first question and fulfill our scripture verse in that we will have given the young people of Maili to leam about Jesus Christ and get a great start in life. My life has been one of blessing because of parents who gave me values and a belief in God. It is also hoped that we will be able to reach many of our prospective students and their par ents for the Church here at Maili. We have many obstacles to overcome, but we feel that they will be overcome because God's people were in prayer and we will have the opportunity to share Christ with precious soiils that do not know Him. LADIES The second Sunday of each month is Ladies Day and the ladies plan and are in charge of the opening part of the worship service. Sunday (July 14) Deborah Nakamura will be the guest pianist and soloist. Her family is long-time friends of the Luttrells. The Lord willing, she, her husband, and her two chil dren will be with us. We cordially invite YOU to come to worship with us, and urge you to invite your neighbors and friends. VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL VBS can be a great outreach for the church. It gives an opportunity to meet new children and their families. Only as we get to know and teach new people can we tell of the love and God and lead them to a saving faith. Please think about children that you know who need to know the Lord, pray for them, and then urge them to attend our VBS. Flyers are at th^ church to give to them. Our VBS will be held in the evenings (it is/ much cooler then) from 7 to 9 P.M. on Tuesday,**.^ Wednesday, and Thursday evenings beginning / July l6 and continuing each week through ^ August 8. Ibis will make 12 sessions with 3 sessions a week for 4 weeks. All children 3 years old and up through elementary school are invited. There is NO CHARGE. A missionary offering will be taken to be sent to our missionaries - Goergia and Somchai Panya, missionaries to Thailand. Somchai was bom in Burma and served as a Buddhist monk before he became a Christian. LAST BIBLE CLUB Wednesday (July 10) will be our last Bible Club meeting at least until fall. Regular sessions have been held each Wed. afternoon at 3 P.M. during the school year and at 2 P.M. this summer. Our longest course was a survey of the Bible with the children being encoursiged to memorize the names of the Books of the Bible. Those who did are Johna- than and Bridgette Sholtis, Leilani, Cynthia, and Bettina King. \ OOULD THIS BE YOli? Dear Johnny Carson: I am writing you because TV has become a sort of religion to me. Instead of going to church on Wednesday evenings and Sunday evenings, I stay home and watch the tights, a class "B" Hollywood horror or Bonanza. Finally, instead of devotions, I relax with your program be fore going to bed. It takes so little effort to listen to you and I never thing about my sins watching your show as I do sometimes in church. But Johnny, I have a problem. I'm in the hos pital now. I am ashamed to call the minister, because by staying at home, I've slapped him in theteeth every Wednesday and Sunday night. I've said, in effect, "What you have to say doesn't concern me." I don't even feel ' praying because I've ignored God for a long time. Is ther something you can do to help me in my present situation? If I die, will you make the final arrangements? Will you see that my soul gets to heaven? If I do get well, you can be sure that I'll be faithfully in my place before the TV every night.
