Carol: Thank you. Tonights series is starting a whole year program
that I felt inspired to begin, to do something new. When I met Syl, my guest facilitator, about five months ago she introduced me to Thai yoga Therapy; that is what she is trained in, what she has a gift and she is an artist in, and Thai yoga therapy is all about the chakras. As I put out there this intent, bringing a new idea for the 2004 seminar series, it came to me; do a seminar series on the chakras, have Syl be a guest facilitator because she has a wealth of knowledge. Just a vast amount of knowledge about the energy system, very gifted as an energy worker. She actually does have a private practice as a Thai yoga therapist. She comes to our home, on average about once a month, where we receive Thai yoga massages from her, and she will tell you a little bit more about that.
My experience with it is youre going through a massage process, being put in Thai yoga positions, and this really works and opens and nurtures and personifies your energy. Its very powerful and its very unique. Its not something you can find in a lot of places, especially not in the area of the country that we live in, but to have someone who is as well trained as she is, and she comes to us very well trained, having worked with the very top people in this type of energy work. I feel very privileged to have her with me tonight, so I want you just to stand where you are right now, but just so everybody knows who Im talking about, this is Syl Carson, and really enjoy having her with us. The blend we see in this, Im a very practical person when it comes to teaching what I teach. I work in the field of energy therapy, so everything is about energy, meaning that if you change the energy, you change the physical world, in any aspect. If you change the energy of your belief, you change the experience that you now manifest. When you change your energy system, you change the way that things are playing and forming and manifesting in your life. So to 2010 Carol Tuttle Page of 1 All rights reserved. understand the value of working with the chakras is very, very powerful; probably one of our most dominant, present, powerful systems of energy. Those of you who are familiar with Donna Edens work in energy medicine; she has a real succinct chapter thats very practical, that hits it right on. CHAKRAS AS AN ENERGY SYSTEM She teaches that the chakras are vortexes of energy, theyre actually energy stations. They run from Ill just go ahead and jump right into this, to give you that visual that will help you see what were talking about here. This is not from Donnas book, this is from Barbara Brennans book, she had two books, The Hands of Light and Light Emerging; these books here. These show the chakras in an adult, when theyre functional. When theyre open and theyre operating in the way theyre meant to. Its interesting, if youll look at an infant, the nature of these chakras, theyre not developed. Theyre little buds, wanting to be opened, and its not unusual that because of improper development, spiritual, mental, emotional development at those energy levels that those buds do not open appropriately, so youve got adults in this state. Maybe one chakra is over developed, and compensating for one thats not open and functioning; so the benefit of this class is really to get your whole system of chakras working in balance. To give you the tools and the information, and then to take that and say gee, I have this powerful energy center that designed to be functioning on this behalf, this theme, this mission in my life how can you then use that energy center to be practical in your life? To say I want to use it in this application, to have this dynamic in my life different. I want to manifest this. Were going to learn then, through this series what each chakra is meant to help you with, and serve you as. As you become a conscious communicator to your energies, willing them to work for you, its a very powerful position to be in. You can actually work with other peoples chakras, as you know about them and their function, and change and affect the life of someone else just because of that knowledge, without ever speaking a word. Thats powerful, you can be 2010 Carol Tuttle Page of 2 All rights reserved. used in many useful ways, and the spirit can lead and direct you to be helpful to a lot of people just by having this information. We picked the chakras mainly because they really are dominant in their play. If those are functioning, all the other systems seem to fall into order. So if you get this system up and running properly, everything else is going to kick in more potently, with more capacity to do its job, because this one is so dominant in our day to day experience, its so important. This is another diagram, actually from Donna Edens book, the seven chakras the major youll hear different schools of thought and teaching; theres 12, theres seven main ones that are really primary for our information that are useful to us. Sure theres a lot of mini chakras, theres energy vortexes all over, but these are the seven most dominant if you can get these working on your behalf with a high degree of function, all the others are going to kick in and follow suit. So these are the most important in that right. So that gives you an idea of where were going with this; thats just a really brief review. POLARITY REVERSAL I wanted to take you through a process before we got into tonights program, Id like to teach you more energy tools. So Im going to teach you about polarity reversal and neurological disorganization. If you have a polarity reversal going on, or youre neurologically disorganized, were going to have a hard time bringing this in and allowing it to find a place in you. So I want to teach you this intervention that you can actually help each other with tonight, with some energy checks to see if you are properly polarized; meaning your north and south poles are functioning right, that theyre running properly. If theyre reversed, that throws you into more of a chaotic state, and you just set yourself up for trouble and manifest problems in a lot of different ways. We cant say theres one set way that its disturbing you, theres a variety of ways you might be disturbed if your polarities are reversed. Im going to invite someone up here, I guess youll 2010 Carol Tuttle Page of 3 All rights reserved. just have to tell me if you dont want to come, but I feel like youre meant to come up. Now, most the people here feel privileged to come up here, I dont know if you feel that way. Kind of like a free session, you get to get things straightened out, now I want you to get a partner with this, okay? Choose your partner, and you can actually work in threes if you need to. Theres a real simple check for this. You want to use the palm of your hand, its the crown chakra, first you place it over her head. Now when the palm is down, she wants to test strong when I do an energy check. And when the palms up, she wants to go weak, and we going to see if she tests that way. So go ahead, just do that little test for an energy check, now the way I do this is just real simple, were just checking your energy. Put your arm out like its a limb on a tree, just nice and firm, strong. If youve never done this before, a good way to get a feel for it is to have them say their name, just say My name is . Just turn this way, so the camera can see what were doing here. Whats your name? Im sorry. Diane: Diane Pratt. Carol: Hi Diane. Say My name is Diane. Diane: My name is Diane. Carol: Im going to just press on her arm and thats real strong. Thats very strong, like a limb on a tree. I could push it down, if I really cranked down on it, but I can feel it bounces back up. Say My name is Sue. Diane: My name is Sue. Carol: I can push right through her arm. She just weakened, because she is speaking something that is out of alignment with her core truth, the energy goes weak and flat, and there it goes. So thats a simple way of checking an energy state, and that gives you a sense of what it feels like if someone is 2010 Carol Tuttle Page of 4 All rights reserved. strong and things are correct and the energys strong, versus it going weak. So in your case, Im going to put my hand over your head, just like this, then check you. Now, put your arm back up, and Im going to place my hand this way. See how strong she is? Her polarity is reversed. Now, I dont know, but when I pick someone, I just am told who to pick, so for some reason I already knew you were, but were going to correct that in a moment, okay? Because you dont want your polarity reversed. It causes chaos in many ways, and you feel frustrated about why arent things running smoothly in my life. Do you feel that way? Why arent things running more smoothly? Diane: Sure. Carol: Okay. Lets go that far, choose your partner, and go ahead and check you need to do a name thing to get a feel for it, so do that first. So everyone is going to do this, regardless of how your results were, but especially if your poles are reversed, this is going to help. So what youre going to do is just the crown pull, which those of you that know that, youre going to put your thumbs on your temples, put the tips of your fingers in the middle of your forehead, and youre going to pull as through youre pulling open the forehead, and then youre going to move to the next position with your fingers, and again pull, pretending youre opening up the crown. You actually are opening up the energy center. Youre just going to keep pulling that all the way towards the back, just follow the next place up, the next place up, the next place up, to get to the very back, and then youre going to grab your neck and hang your elbows down, pulling the neck open. Take a deep breath, and let it go. Ill have you do that two more times. And let it go. Another time, good job. The next step is called a hook up. Were going to hook up the energies from the lower half of the body with the top half of the body. You take your middle finger and put one on the navel, and the other just above the bridge of your nose, almost in the third eye point. Youre going to pretend these middle fingers are a hook, and pull them up, like youre 2010 Carol Tuttle Page of 5 All rights reserved. hooking up your skin. Now breathe. Go ahead and take two more. These techniques are very, very valuable to be doing with children. Their energies are running amok in a lot of their lives, and youre trying to be rational and reason with them with the need is at an energy level, not a cognitive level. Take your top finger, without removing the navel one; put this here and then switch. Just breathe in again, just hooking up those points. Energy has a tendency to form habits, so if you have something thats off, youre going to want to work with it on a daily basis, maybe a couple or three times a day to form a new habit so it really sticks and flows properly. So were going to recheck Diane here, go ahead and turn this way for me. Ill put my hand over the top of her head, see how strong she is? Now Im going to switch it, see? We got you fixed. Now youll be rich and happy and skinny, thats all it needed, that little thing. It takes care of everything, I promise. (laughter) why not? Just believe it can. Thank you. Most of these techniques do come from Donna Edens work; little techniques like this are all through her book and her work. I want to reference something here real quick. NEUROLOGICAL DISORGANIZATION I want to just teach you the steps of correcting that, so theres not that disorganization going on at the neural level. It starts with the crown pull, and so youve done that. Weve done that piece. Were going to take this last technique and roll it over into this one, but to correct neurological disorganization you want to start with a crown pull. We wont repeat that right now, but for your own step by step process, make a note. You start with the crown pull. The second step is a process called separating heaven from earth. You need to stand up on that, so everyone go ahead and stand up. Take a deep breath, then just spread your feet about six inches apart, so theyre aligned with your hips, spreading your fingers apart, place them on your thighs. Its going to ground you and get 2010 Carol Tuttle Page of 6 All rights reserved. energy running up and down your legs. That itself will help a lot of people, just doing that. The next step is to take you hands and just put them in a prayer position. This is a common yoga position; put your elbows a little bit up there. Now, youre going to actually make a connection with heaven and earth with your palms. The way youre going to do that I like to bend my knees, and then reach up, stretch my one palm up to heaven, and the other one is pointing down to earth. And then stretch through your body, so your knees are locked, take a deep breath.
Come back together on the exhale, and then you go right to the other one. Do that two or three more times; make that connection with heaven and earth. One more. Just do each side one more time. Okay, good. Now, thats the second step, thats called separating heaven from earth. Its just stand up, put your hands on the thighs, get grounded, get that energy running up and down the legs, bring your hands up into prayer position, then you start to do the separating, and just holding. Then you come actually, the last part of the process, drop yourself forward, just like youre hanging down, and then twirling your hands, just bring the energy up, like that. Okay, can anyone feel the difference that makes, to do that? You know how you get present with yourself, and your energy starts to get cleaned up. You should be able to notice that. Start to tune in to the energies of you. Start being sensitive to those shifts of energy, so you can start to read your energy with more sensitivity, and make these adjustments throughout your day. You can go ahead and sit down. The world in which we live, your energies are being basically messed with all the time. Theres many things going on; children and school especially, because they tend to be very, very sensitive at a spirit level. We really have one of the most distractive environments to place children in rooms with 2010 Carol Tuttle Page of 7 All rights reserved. that many children, with that much energy going on, without any coaching with the energy to help them get focused, centered, grounded, connected with their energy. Theyre being pulled, constantly, by the energy of all these other little people in the room; even in high school, thats just one big energy mess in my opinion. Very few teenagers are walking around their high school grounded and connected to their core. My two may be the only two at their high school that are doing this, and they know were doing weird stuff, you know? But they feel better and theyre grateful for it. The last one is called the Wayne Cook Posture. This is the third step in correcting a neurological integration; crown pull, separating heaven and earth, and the Wayne Cook posture. Now, if I could, I need a chair. I didnt prepare for this. Could I pull your chair up here, would that be alright? Well give you back your chair when were done. Oh, Johns going to bring you a replacement, thank you. If you cant see me, go ahead and stand up. This is a sitting position, and Wayne Cook developed this. Hes a gentleman who has since passed on. This helps unscramble energy; it helps people who cant think through things, to bring their thought into language and have things expressed clearly, that flow that were looking for. This will help straighten all that out. You can start on either side. Im actually going to start with my left leg, putting my ankle on my right knee. Were going to do both sides, so it doesnt matter which one you start with. Youre going to take your right hand, and grab your left ankle. Youre going to take your left hand, reaching up and over, grabbing the ball of your foot. You want to grab over the top of the foot. Just breathe in, lifting the leg up to the chest. One more time. I usually do that about three times. Now switch sides. Youll remember this set up by always remembering that the leg thats straight and folded to the ground is the arm that stays straight with that leg. They should match up. The leg thats crossing matches that side of the arm that actually now reaches over and crosses. Thats how I remember the set 2010 Carol Tuttle Page of 8 All rights reserved. up, because otherwise youll tend to go like this, and thats not going to give you the position you need to be in for the energy to have a benefit from it. So grabbing the ball of my foot, Im going to breathe in, and do that three times. Alright. So those are the three steps to that correction. Any questions about those two energy interventions? It seems a little premature for a five minute break, but Im going to introduce Syl, were going to take a brief little break, because we need to change microphones. Just take like a water break. You need to be drinking a lot of water when youre doing anything with energy, because youre really processing at a deep level. Letting a lot of really old energies go, a lot of old baggage go, and your physical system will be stressed by that, so you need to keep cleansing it and keep the fluids moving. The water is what keeps the body in motion, and which supports it then not being overwhelmed by the work that you might be doing at an energy level. Syls going to take some time and teach her portion of the workshop tonight, regarding what she can bring to us from the school of Thai yoga which is a very ancient practice and that we can all benefit from, and we hope to have you take these tools and actually practice them at home, between courses. We have on the website, just so you know some guidelines of what each month will be reviewing and some suggestions that will benefit you as far as preparation. Well take about colors, things you can do to benefit the most from this. You may meet other people who would like to come. Its not necessary to be a part of the whole sequence to be a benefactor. In fact, some people arent meant to be a part of the whole series, just depending on wherever theyre at. Weve found that youll be at whatever youll be benefitted the most from, so if theres a month that theres a conflict, just trust that and dont be in any distress about it. Everything works out to your highest good. Your energy is really working for you at all times to assist you, and if youre overworking it or pushing too fast and hard, it will resist your 2010 Carol Tuttle Page of 9 All rights reserved. effort to think that is in your best and your highest good, because its not. You have a very intelligent system, your intention is to come aboard with it, to become a conscious participant, to engage it in what its already designed to do, from a really high level that Gods created. I trust that very strongly in my work with other people, that Im not that powerful to be disruptive to what God put in place to benefit us. My intention is to work alongside of it to actually be employed by it to do the best I can to give it the greatest outcome. So hold that intention with yourself tonight that youll only do as much is beneficial to you. When we do overs, we get ourselves into a stress mode, and then were frustrated, and then youre just working too hard and too fast in an effort to be well or get whatever result youre looking for. But really embrace the concept of grace and needs. Theres really no hurry, youre an eternal being. Youll have plenty of time to continue to expand your level of intelligence and improve the quality of who you are. So really have that intention tonight. In fact, lets have everyone repeat this; I have to think of it, form the correct wording in my mind. Okay, repeat after me. Im grateful that I am making the changes that are valuable to me in the energy of grace and ease. I accept grace. I change with ease. Because so many times peoples measurement of if things are working is that its a level of distress, and thats just not the way its meant to be with energy healing or energy work. Energy is a very simple dynamic of who we are. Its a very its ease; its wanting to be at ease. So if your measurement of thinking youre doing good work is that youre pushed, youre processing a lot, that to me is just your belief system that is actually causing things to be a lot more uncomfortable than they need to be. Use the measurement of I feel better and better all the time to be your measurement. Everything is getting easier; things are flowing better, trust that thats the indicator youre looking for, rather than I need to be going into this overwhelm to 2010 Carol Tuttle Page of 10 All rights reserved. know Im getting results. Oh Im really processing at a deep level, thats all drama that you just dont need to be playing out. Really the goal that were striving for, wanting to come into harmony with that the planets offering us is an experience of balance. To be in balance when so much of the world is out of balance. To find your core and be centered in that core moving, so you were almost in the eye of the hurricane, and youre in this state of peace, when theres so much going on in this world around you; you can achieve that state, and I know very well through the work that Ive done with Syl, she helps you align with that core energy, so you can be that stillness amidst a world that is in a lot of chaos. Even in your own home, you can anchor into that and connect with the patience you need as people play out their stuff. Thats a very, very powerful position to be in. To be anchored to that core; to be in the eye of that hurricane. HISTORY OF CHAKRAS Syl: Alright, just welcome tonight, again Carol has already welcomed everyone. I just feel so good. She started us with just the right mix of energy to kind of get things opened up. I just hope that everyone here knows how lucky they are, because there is nothing like this offered throughout the continental United States. There are some really amazing people, who have done fabulous research and developed some really wonderful books on the chakras, and you can find chakra workshops, but theres nothing like this anywhere. So you know, if this were out there a little bit more, we would have a room three times the size, because people just dont realize whats available to them in this series. I would hope that your life goes well this year and you can attend all the classes. I teach chakra workshops once annually, because it can get sort of intense at times, when you get to these various energy centers, and its been my experience that when someone hits a specific center where they may be blocked or something, there is some resistance to attending, and I would maybe just offer you my blessings that you will have good, positive things happen in your life, that youll be 2010 Carol Tuttle Page of 11 All rights reserved. able to attend all the classes. If its a rough time, and its like Carol talked about, not feasible to not go into the guilt thing. Thats the second chakra, well go there. But to really kind of estimate whats keeping you from the class. Is it me? Or is it really the energetic connection to the universe, spirituality, or whatever it is. But just really kind of give yourself a deep thought moment where you can determine whether you really should be here or not. If you come to a chakra and you feel like youre feeling some resistance, just ask yourself really what thats about. And really sort of research that out in your mind, when you meet resistance. You may not; you may just shoot right to the top and start levitating in the back of the room. Let the camera swing back, if that happens. One of my favorite people, someone that I spent a lot of time with in my practice of yoga is Ganga White. Ganga and Tracy run the White Lotus Foundation in the hills above Santa Barbara, California, and Im amazed of the classes of these yogis that come, and theres this question thats out there, someone asks, what about yogis and levitation? you know, can they really levitate? because theres been this thing that goes on in the eastern religions about levitation, and he says, in his most fabulous way, crossed legged at the front of the room, you know, just leans out, raises one eyebrow, and says: Yes. They do it every day, hundreds of times a day. Its called an airplane. They get on, and fly away, sitting comfortably so well see how it works for you. But the chakras are really a wonderful place of personal study, and they will take your life and shift it in really magical and beautiful ways. I think probably where well begin tonight is just give you a little bit of the history. Chakras came from tantric yoga, which is a Hindu, which in turn came from Hindutheistic philosophies, and really what happened was, however many thousands of years ago, these seers in India perceived these energy centers in the body, throughout their study of self. They were perceived as 2010 Carol Tuttle Page of 12 All rights reserved. petals of a flower, a lotus, in particular, and each different chakra has a different number of lotus petals, and they are symbolic of several different things, and well cover that throughout the course of this year, this wonderful year. What were going to do from here, is I am going to go ahead and use the overhead and just give you a brief synopsis of how these work. Youve seen a couple of pictures before. This is a fabulous little Hindu dude, here. There are seven energy centers within the body, that well discuss, and theyre the main focus of this series. The way they work, a lot of times you see chakras in a picture like this, where you see the flowers; one at the root, which is the base of the perineum, base of the spine, very bottom of the body. And then theres the creative center, which is for sexuality, pleasure, nurturance, comforting, things like that, and then theres the solar plexus, which is the power center. The heart, which is obviously love and self-acceptance, as well as love for others, theres the throat chakra and the third eye, which you see a lot of in energy connections. People always say this is your heart chakra, this is your throat chakra, well, were going to go in deeper than that, and give you a really clear understanding, so when something happens in your life, youll really be able to recognize it, and feel it in your body happening. And then there is the crown of the head, which is the 1000 petal lotus, and in India, back when they were kind of developing these philosophies, 1000 was really an acronym for infinity, so thats why there is a 1000 petal lotus in that shape. So you see them as though they are flowers, here and then here, and here, but my just from my own self study and my belief in this system and the way it kind of intertwines into the universe is that they actually are here, like this. And then like this, okay? And so you have your base chakra, your root chakra at the very bottom of the body, and that is 2010 Carol Tuttle Page of 13 All rights reserved. just the four petaled lotus right at the bottom of the body. It has to do with survival, being grounded. And its right here. It was said, back then, that chakras are in the shape of a lotus, and if the chakra is open, or closed, or blocked, its a grayish sort of a color, the petals droop, and when a chakra begins to open, it takes on color, and the petals sort of fan out. Now before you go looking for flowers in your body, Im just going to explain one other thing. SHAKTI AND SHIVA Chakras are a seven tiered sort of philosophical idea of the universe, internal and external. So what happens with this idea is that in this philosophy, you cant really see a lotus flower. You can look, and you might find some belly lint, but youre not going to see the flower in there. The best way I found to equate this is do you see the wind? No. You see the branches move, you can feel it on your skin, you know somethings there, but you cant take it that literally. Does that make sense? Okay, so the chakras are a philosophical idea. So generally this is the idea; you have your root chakra, when you kind of get this opening that takes place here, the petals philosophically open up, the color deepens, and it begins to vibrate in a specific direction. The next one up, same idea; when it opens, and pulls open, takes on color, and begins to vibrate in the opposite direction. So its like the gears of a watch. On either side of the chakras, you have energy lines that move up. Feminine goes up the body, masculine comes down. With this philosophy, up the center is whats called the sushumna, and this follows the line of the spine. Theres all sorts of fabulous stuff with this whole idea of the chakras. These seers came up with the fact that there are 30 vertebra in the spine that correspond with the 30 days of the 2010 Carol Tuttle Page of 14 All rights reserved. moon, and rise up in ascension. You have on the side, these energy lines are called nadis, and the feminine is at the base of the spine and moves upward; the masculine is at the crown and moves downward. See if this sounds familiar to you, okay? The feminine at the bottom is whats referred to as Shakti, which is the feminine energy. And Shakti is in the form of a serpent that lies coiled at the bottom of the spine. I dont know if any of you have heard of Kundalini yoga, and Kundalini awakenings; we can talk about that as we move through the series throughout the year. So this snake coiled at the bottom, philosophically, moves upward and its representation of the feminine. Shakti is manifestation without consciousness, right? Were just playing with this here. Shiva, at the top, is the masculine, and it moves downward, and it is basically consciousness without manifestation. Its a really beautiful system. The Shakti moves up, and winds up the chakras, Shiva moves down, they connect at the heart. So it really falls over into a lot of western religion, different ideas; youve got Adam and Eve here, just right there. Eve actually took the apple, Adam had the consciousness without the manifestation, so these things from the Hindu philosophies really do transfer over into western religion and ideas and things, theyre not that farfetched. Now my opinion is that you have your chakras layered, here, here, here, here, and these energy lines are here, and as they move down they twist around each other, to form a double helix, and thats just the spiral that you hear, spiraling through the chakras. And from myself study and my study of the chakras, this is just a brief sort of synopsis of how they work.
2010 Carol Tuttle Page of 15 All rights reserved.
Well go into detail about the really specific ones in the future. What I have for everyone, if youre interested in purchasing it, this is the workbook that well use for the coming year. This is our White Mountain Yoga series that I teach once a year, and basically there are a couple of things that I want to talk about here. You have our little guide, and on the next page we have this picture, its a very famous, ancient Hindu picture of the nadis, which are the energy lines throughout the body. 2010 Carol Tuttle Page of 16 All rights reserved. There are 72,000 nadis, supposedly in the body, and it also depicts chakras. You have secondary chakras in the palms of your hands, on the palms of your feet, and a really great way to think about the chakras is basically they are pretty much at each joint. Where you have movement, you have chakras. In addition to this, theres another picture in here, and the is pancha kosha, and this is another famous picture in the Hindu philosophies, and these are basically five bodies of man. The chakras work out throughout these bodies. 2010 Carol Tuttle Page of 17 All rights reserved.
Really, you have energy bodies that go out a long time, or long distance, but really theyre these main five bodies of man that hold different things that are specific to the body. The physical body, obviously, and then you have a small little auric field around you, that really is easy to see on anybody, whether you know anything about it or not. A really great way, I dont if anyone can anyone see any kind of auric surroundings on people? I dont know if youve ever had experience with that. But really a great way to do it, and I dont know if it will work with the light or not, but its just to look at someone with a blank background, I think Im pretty clear in the back, and just kind of blink your eyes back and forth, just like that, and if you look around the body as you blink, a lot of times you can see a really thin line of light. 2010 Carol Tuttle Page of 18 All rights reserved. Its not necessarily colors, but it usually runs fairly close to the body. Can you see that? When you do that? A little bit? It usually takes some time to develop that, but interestingly enough; the energy bodies from pancha kosha go out three feet, which is personal space. EAST MEETS WEST So we really are in each others energy and space and things are going on that you think Why am I dealing with this? and its like, well you may not be. You may be picking it up from somebody else. You dont have to scoot over that fast. (laughter) Just to compare some of this, this is a really wonderful article you can find in the April issue April 23, 2001 of Time magazine, Christy Turlington is on the cover, and shes in a fabulous yoga pose, but this is a wonderful, wonderful description; kind of a comparison eastern meets western view of the chakras. And at the crown, youve got the brain, obviously; highest neurological function that we have, and as it moves down, you can just see how the two correlate with one another. 2010 Carol Tuttle Page of 19 All rights reserved. You also have branches in your body, your major nerve branches from your body, you have specific clusters of these, and obviously the brain is in laymans terms here a pretty big cluster of nerves, right up here. You have another little section of ganglia that come out from the nervous system, comes from the spine that goes right here, and another one right here, and one right here, down through the belly, right there. Do you see the correlation kind of happening? Right at the back. So physiologically how they knew this 4000 years ago, obviously they were seers, they saw it. But it really does transfer over to our current day and time, what we do. There are other things that really do correlate with the chakras that were going to go into a lot of detail in this next upcoming year, with this series, but the main idea is that you have a manifesting current, which heads down, and a liberating current which heads up. And to be able to balance these two currents within your life, practice, whatever youre doing, you really can bring a really common sense to what you do and it adds beautiful texture to your life. When you open up a chakra, youre opening up every single thing in your life, in your own DNA, sometimes in your parents DNA or on back that has blocked you from this one area. When I am visiting in a situation where I am in a business situation, and Im in a discussion, a lot of us become uncomfortable. We begin to feel a tightness in the gut and its really sort of a we would classify it as a negative experience, when you open up your chakras and you become aware of your solar plexus and your power and all of the issues connected to that center, I just enjoy the buzz. So something that may have affected me negatively, and Im taking in a whole bunch of stuff and I carry that with me as tension in my body, now I can just experience the release. I was in a fabulous discussion with someone in a business setting, and I just felt this most wonderful the best way to describe it is the 4 th of July, when you see those fireworks 2010 Carol Tuttle Page of 20 All rights reserved. that are white and then they sort of speckle down? It was that sort of a feeling, right in my belly, and it was this awareness Im waking up, I have support for what Im doing and it gave me courage to continue on in that conversation. And it felt great, instead of thinking Oh, what is this in my stomach? it was like oooh. One of my favorite people, I did some advanced Thai yoga training this past December, and the gentleman who ran the training leaned over to me at one point and said Syl, life is short, but its wide and I would take that further, to just say enjoy the wide. While were here, we may as well really open ourselves up. OUT OF THE ROCKING CHAIR How does Thai yoga Therapy fit into all this? Well, I began teaching yoga about four years ago, I had been studying for several years before that, about seven years ago I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis and fibromyalgia; I spent about eight hours a day in bed, and that was on a good day. To change my sons diaper, I would sit on the back of the couch and then get down to the arm, and then the seat, and then scoot onto the floor, and change his diaper. I dont know why I didnt just buy a changing table, but this is what I would do, and then it would take me another five to ten minutes to get back up. I knew I was at a crucial point when I was sitting in my rocker one day and kind of just rocking him that was about the most I could do. He was about three years old, and he hopped off my lap and pitter patter, pitter patter down the hall and I could hear him playing in his room. Then he came back out and said Mom, come into my room, I want to show you this. And I just would say Oh honey, I cant get up right now. Ill come see it later. And pitter patter, pitter patter down the hall. And Id hear him play for a minute, and then hed come back out, and say Mommy, come see this in my room. I want you to see this. And Id say Okay, so I worked my way out of the rocking chair, and Im following him as hes walking down the hallway to his bedroom, and my little two year old son, with his fabulousness of who he is, just looking at the back of his head, I heard him say Thank you for 2010 Carol Tuttle Page of 21 All rights reserved. giving up your rocker, Mommy. And at that point, I knew I had to make some huge changes in my life, if I wanted to live to see my son raised. So, I went to my rheumatologist, and said Im miserable. I cant move Im in pain all the time; Im rolling out of bed. Help me. And he was from India, and he said You must go to yoga. So I had read the books and done a little bit, videos here and there, and I sought out my first yoga instructor and sobbed my way through my first class. Cried and cried and cried the idea that I could have compassion for my body was beyond anything that up to that point, I had ever thought I would receive. So yoga and this whole process of the chakras has saved my life, literally, and has added so much beauty and texture that everything in this journey has just been incredible, up to this point. Were going to go ahead and continue on in just a second with this, but mainly, the main idea that I would love for you to get out of this is to be able to learn to have some compassion for those parts of your body that youve maybe felt disconnected from. And to be able to enjoy the wide of this life, and to really take some time and allow yourself some depth and texture, because an understanding of this really will change your life. What Im going to do is just give you a brief synopsis of Thai yoga therapy. THAI YOGA THERAPY Thai yoga therapy is chakra based. The physician to the Buddha, however many thousands of years ago, came up with Thai yoga therapy. Again, it was an intuitive process. Thai yoga therapy is pretty much a two hour experience, I have a really dense little foam one inch mat, and I basically take you body, and you just lay there instead of going to a yoga class where youve got to learn the down dog and the up dog and the uttanasana and none of it makes any sense, youre just going to lay there and I move your body into various yoga poses. When I got to a full extension, I work the muscle and the fascia and this opens up these energy lines in the body, so youll feel a balancing in your chakras, 2010 Carol Tuttle Page of 22 All rights reserved. both initial seven chakras that we talk about, but it fans out to really every section of your body. In December, I went to my advance training, Id been doing this work for just a couple of years, Im one of maybe two or three in Utah. I havent met any others that are practicing Thai yoga Therapists, but I went to this training to learn some techniques to adjust people in their yoga postures, in my yoga classes, and I felt like it would give me a better idea of kinesiology and that sort of thing. When I went there and I found out what it was, I had no concept of it. Its like youre reading off a menu; Thai yoga Therapy, that looks good. Little did I know, nine days later, major major body releases. All of us sobbed or cried at one point or another, because we were getting our blocks released, but its this most wonderful, sort of rhythmic if you were to see it happening, it looks like a cross between physical therapy, dancing, wrestling, whatever you would like to say. There are a couple here who have had them. Just further description of Thai yoga Therapy, there are the energy lines in the body that I showed you out of the booklet, and basically what Thai yoga Therapy does, is its a system of palming and thumbing and opening up these energy lines. This physician to the Buddha was from India, so thats where you have a crossover from yoga into sort of a Buddhist philosophy. Thai yoga therapy is about a two hour process, you start with the feet and you go to the head, and systematically open up each chakra, starting from the feet. So we go, and Ill begin at the feet, move up the legs, basically work through some palming of the legs, and thumbing along these energy lines. So its a full shiatsu as well, which is toe to head acupressure points on your body. Ill teach some really great acupressure points for each chakra as we go through this. Some of the benefits of Thai yoga Therapy are that it opens up all the systems of the body. I coach you through your breathing, so you can really get a full amount of lung 2010 Carol Tuttle Page of 23 All rights reserved. capacity. Its amazing, I know its going to be a long two hours when I start to work on somebody, and I say take a deep breath, and they go (sound of very short breath). I never had a chance to push. So anyway, this is the general idea of the Thai yoga Therapy. So Im talking you through your breath, pressing on the musculature; interestingly enough, these energy lines that run through the body run along the lymphatic system, they run along the fascia of the muscles, and obviously the chakras of the joints. Were just basically rotating the joints, opening up the shoulders, the heart, the back, the back is fabulous. You know, you hear about people getting a massage where someone walks on their back, thats me. So the idea of this is to balance the lymphatic system, to get your lymph system moving, to lower your blood pressure, which it will do. If you already have low blood pressure I can bump it up there so you can have a little bit more energy. And then circulatory lines, musculature, all those things. The idea of Thai yoga Therapy is that its a meditation. This is why its unique for most body work. This physician that developed it was really an enlightened being, if he was a contemporary of the Buddha. Im sure Buddha didnt hang around with too many deadbeats, but basically what he developed was a meditation. Its a meditation for the giver and for the receiver. Thats why I talk about it being a little bit like a dance, if you were to kind of see it happening. Its sort of like wrestling or dancing around, and its a meditation of whats called metta, which is one of the four divine states of Buddhism, loving kindness. It really just opens up your body to experience the loving kindness of the universe, God, Heavenly Father, whatever. Whatever term you want to put that in, but I know it is very powerful work to do. When I am working on someone, a lot of times I can get a sense of what is going on with them energetically as well as physically. It really is just a wonderful channel of spirituality, and connecting your body with the spiritual side of you. 2010 Carol Tuttle Page of 24 All rights reserved. THE BREATH OF YOGA Just take a second if you would, and Im going to teach you just a really quick breath. This is the ujia breathing; its the really basic yoga breath. Ujia breathing is the throat youre breathing with your throat, but the air is passing through your nose. The mouth is really for eating food, in case thats news to anybody, and the nose is for the air to go through. So just starting with sitting up, the breath is one of the few autonomic responses of the body that can also be controlled. You cant mention the breath without affecting it. All I did was say Im going to teach you something about the breath and everybody moved. Youre all sitting up straight, and everyone took a deep breath, just by me saying the word. So thats really amazing. So what well do is, ujia breathing is just to touch the tip of the tongue on the top palette, just behind the eye teeth, and then take your hand to your mouth and just make the sound like youre fogging up glasses. Same thing, going in, again. What are you feeling on the palm of your hand? Heat? Moisture? All right. So for ujia breathing, you basically do that, except the lips are closed. So just not really forcing the tongue up there and clinching the jaw, but leaving the jaw relaxed, the tip of the tongue right behind the eye teeth, lips are closed. Great, same thing on the inhale. I did this in the Board room of a bank once, and they thought a faucet was running. (laughter) but it makes that sort of a sound, okay? I like to think of it more than the faucet as the sounds of the waves of the ocean. The other thing that Id love for you to do, because theres no pride in yoga, is to let your belly hang out. So lets go to the Dr. Seuss kind of imagery, the belly, so just take a nice deep breath with the belly hanging out, and then exhale and press in. Relax the belly out sometimes its hard just to do that, but well get you there by October. Well all be breathing good. Exhaling, inhaling, letting the belly out. 2010 Carol Tuttle Page of 25 All rights reserved. You can balance your chakras by breathing right. If you want to, you can breathe with your sacrum. You can breathe all the way down here. Take a nice deep breath, and try and draw it all the way down, through the lower back, so youre taking a breath all the way down to here, so as you breathe, youll actually feel your sacrum move out. Just give that a try. Pressing in with the belly, thats activating your root chakra, which is for next time. When you take your breath, and take it all the way out, youre relaxing these muscles down here, which relaxes the diaphragm. Your lungs are basically a vacuum, this breath will relax you. Ive seen six people yawn in the last two seconds. This breath will really relax you, so your lungs are a vacuum. If your diaphragm moves down, it opens up the lungs and the air just has no choice but to flow in, okay? But a lot of times, we dont even allow that to even take place. Initially what we do, as we get older, specifically once we discover boys and girls, we do this. We pull in here, we go way out here did it really improve my posture that much? So this is the way most of us walk around. And you tell someone to stand up straight, and this is what they do. Dont do that. So from here, just take your take the palm of your hand, and place it where your hairline would be. I say that with the utmost respect. And then all the way, just taking your index finger, let it rest down toward the center of your head. Youre going to connect with a little acupressure point. Little bit of a dip, just a suture right there. So from there, youre basically going to open up, leave the finger there, and its as though someone had a string and they were lifting you up. So the sacrum tucks, the head lifts, the heart lifts, and the head comes back. So thats mainly the point; this is the plumb line where you want to lift from. Right here, you can hang out here, or you can just really straighten up. A lot of peoples low back problems come from here. Standing back, behind you, right? 2010 Carol Tuttle Page of 26 All rights reserved. So while youre standing here, were all breathing for just a second; really easy way, without taking up room for the whole class, is just lace your hands behind you, roll the shoulders open, clasp the hands if you can, and pull the shoulders back. And then a lot of times were like ah, well get rid of that by October, I promise. Clasping the hands together, youre going to take this, right here, can you all see me? Youre going to take it down and pull it back and away and really open up the shoulders. If you want to, depending on whos behind you; move up, thats where you really move into some opening up of the shoulders and the heart, trying to keep the hands clasped as tight as you can. You can do this also folding over, too. Its wonderful. Theres not a lot of room to do it here, so I wont, but this is just opening up the shoulders. Now let the hands rest at your sides. Youre going to feel totally different if all these little chakras are aligned. Sanskrit word meaning disk or wheel, chakra, from the Latin root, car, to move. Isnt that interesting? Car, to move? So, if your shoulders are properly aligned, your thumbs face forward. This is 10,000 years ago. Have we come that far? Just try the thumbs facing forward. If youre properly aligned and your shoulders are in place; its also harder to go like this. Its easier to go like this if your palms are this way. Its harder if youre properly aligned to really flex your sacrum back. You can loosen up your back, you dont have to have anymore back pain; no more, no more. So this way, just like this. So really just some simple ideas. Does anyone feel any movement in the palms of their hands? Those are chakras, you just opened it. Youre welcome. IMBALANCE AND BELIEF SYSTEMS Carol: It gives you the breakdown of each of the chakras, what the energy is designed to assist us in, organs that are related to it, the mental, emotional issues that are common for those chakras and the physical dysfunctions that manifest as a result of the imbalances that those energy stations. When 2010 Carol Tuttle Page of 27 All rights reserved. you have an energy imbalance, or stuck energy, or an energy system that is running amok, the body will finally follow the same design and it will go into imbalance. So as you know, as youre looking to this chart, we in our western culture of medicine, we look here first, and we examine the physical disorder and then try and correct it, just through a physical application or a physical intervention of some kind, whether its medication, surgery, physical therapy, but were only looking at the physical imbalance, trying to affect change through physical change.
As you look back on this chart, youre going to see that every physical disorder is related to an emotional mental imbalance that you never corrected. Its a belief system possibly from your generations; maybe its something that was told to you. They come from generally three areas, the generations, your parents, or yourself. Those are the levels. So your generational beliefs, you might have just chosen a family; your spirit said Im going there, Im going to take on that belief system and hopefully release myself from it, and hopefully come into knowing my own free self in my lifetime. The generational beliefs tend to be just a part of your whole fabric of self that you have grown up with being you. They become what we, in energy work, call a core belief. But that core belief is not accurate and authentic to the God given truth within you. A parental belief, or maybe familial, something you picked up in your family group or something that comes more from your parents, but something that you were just told a lot, that was projected back to you throughout your childhood, its something you decided to line up with, its what you heard in your formative years, in your developmental years and you figure well, my parents are the authority here. In your childlike state, you dont have the ability and rationale to go theyre really screwed up. Im not going to buy into that. Although todays children are more apt to do that, which Im really happy about. But we tend to just line up with whatever was projected to us, and then embrace that as 2010 Carol Tuttle Page of 28 All rights reserved. truth. So if that is not truth, it will manifest as a physical imbalance, and then theres the things that youve now taken on and youve started to tell yourself. That tends to happen from about eight on up, especially in your pre-teens and adolescents; you start to run your own tapes, your own self-assessment, and the own feedback loop that youve got going now. You really dont need your parents do to the job much anymore, because youve engaged it on your own. Thats usually in place by your teen years. So those beliefs are, just so you know, each of these chakras hold those dynamics. Those tapes, those events, theyre like the mini computer hard drive systems that hold them, very deep program that goes all the way back to your generations. Some of your imbalances that are held in your chakras are not even from your life experience. This stuff gets passed on through decades, if not generations, of it never being altered. We become the participant to now make the change. Then if you go all the way back to these energy stations, youre going to see them broken down, from tribal belief; which is basically generational, a group of people you come from, the culture of your family. You can say weve got my ancestors, which then tie into an actual; we all have bloodlines back to different groups of people who formed a certain belief system. Im heavily stocked in German DNA. Its just lovely. Ive had a lot of anger to deal with throughout my adult life. Not recently, but that was one of the primary energies that just came through me so potently, and I know that came from a very deep root tribal energy that came from association from having come into that group, that I was now a participant. As a part of the human race, that was an energy I was willing to participate with and alter, because anger is not something I really experience often anymore. Would you agree with me, honey, that its pretty rare? 2010 Carol Tuttle Page of 29 All rights reserved. I can be serious, but Im not blowing up all the time like I used to, and I used to blow up all the time. It was probably a daily event, if not several times a day. And then the second power of relationships, I want to introduce you to Syls workbook, which will be a great asset to you, because youre going to be able to read through this before you come each month and prepare yourself. You can also go on the internet to CarolTuttle.com and pick up a few of the what were going to be doing, the areas well be focusing on. But in this, it does give you a support tool to assist you through this whole series. The first chakra is the shade of red. Were suggesting as we go into each month that you prepare yourself by choosing to wear that color definitely the evening of the seminar, and preferably at least a few days or a week prior, that you put yourself in red. Because that color, the color of that month will actually start to feed and work with that energy station, and youll be more the benefactor of that. Im not going to get into any of the clearing mechanisms tonight, because were really just setting the stage for the year, but it will bring stuff up and youre going to want to know probably the most obvious tool that I want to teach you and have you take home is EFT Emotional Freedom Techniques, so that rather than just being played by these energies, youll have the consciousness to say I have to move this energy out and release myself from it so I come into balance. So youre just not this victim of your energy, your chakra opening, and youre going Whoa, this is just overwhelming. You want to move the energy into balance, clean it up, clear it out, thats really easy to do these days. The second chakra, the color is orange. Im just going to go up through these. Then youve got the power of relationships, the sexual energy; you can see the issues that line up with those on the belief systems. The third chakra is yellow. Another thing Im going to do each month is introduce you to the therapeutic gemstone that works with that chakra, which I teach a lot about therapeutic 2010 Carol Tuttle Page of 30 All rights reserved. gemstones, their value, their usage, and there is one for each chakra. Theyre just a system of energy assistance, that when you wear a tool that has such a high vibration it is working with your energy system. So if you can just put on the necklace it will work with that energy station directly, very specifically, and youll get the benefit of that. The fourth chakra is green, the fifth chakra is blue, thats your throat chakra. A lot of womens throat chakras are not functioning in authenticity, thats a real powerful one for women to be able to speak their truth and come from its not even necessarily to speak it verbally, but to be thinking it, to think your truth and be willing to speak it. It doesnt mean necessarily that youre a real verbal person, it just means that the thoughts that you have are yours, rather than thoughts in reference to what your world is outside of you. A lot of women compromise their own genuine authentic thought process to look outside and then decide what should I be thinking, what ought I be thinking, what do I need to think in order to accommodate the people and the events of my life. CHAKRAS AND PURPOSE
That is creating a real like theres something lodged in there, and were going to open that up. The sixth chakra, which is your intuitive center, your third eye, is like an indigo blue, a purplish blue. Your seventh chakra, your crown chakra is amethyst, purple, it a royal color. And you have a dominant chakra that you play your life by. Well do an imagery with that, do we want to do that tonight? Do you have a process for that? As far as the again, we have certain energy systems that support us, they become our vice, our strength and our weakness. So lets say if your dominant chakra that your life operates by is your heart chakra, you have a tendency to carry wounds of the heart, youre very vulnerable there, its also a strength because you have a very natural capacity to be guileless and compassionate and to be very aware of this ability to reach 2010 Carol Tuttle Page of 31 All rights reserved. out and nurture people. But if youre in the imbalance, if youre in the weak side of it, youre actually having to protect yourself and not be able to access that energy station for your strengths, because youre now having to be guarded. My primary chakra is my third chakra, my second which is a support to it is my sixth. My fifth and sixth chakras are my dominant players that help me live my mission. Well, whats this chakra? This throat chakra? Its about communication. This is about communicating truth, being able to see the bigger picture, to make sense of this kind of ethereal, the spiritual, and bring it into this realm. That is my mission that I serve humanity to offer. I have all this communication going out there. So my dominant is not my heart, that supports these two primary chakras that help me serve and fulfill my mission. If youre not able to engage in the chakra for the energy station that is to benefit and support you in your purpose, youre having to be resourceful and compromising some other way to try and find that balance, you will probably be compromising physically for that, because your body will blow out and not be able to carry the difference that needs to be made somewhere else, and so disease will be created in some fashion. Some kind of disharmony. I have this little visual do you have a process? Id like you to tune into that, and before we actually do the process, write down what you think, just intuitively, what energy station, which of these seven chakras would be your dominant energy station to help you serve your mission. Theres usually a dominant and a secondary that play strongly for you. So make a little note, we want to help you develop your intuition, so you dont always have to go looking around for somebody to tell you, what you already know. Because you do already know this. I believe you chose it, because it supports you in being successful in why youre here. Its something I believe I chose, in my spirit, my existence in the spirit realm, I knew I needed a strong throat chakra. 2010 Carol Tuttle Page of 32 All rights reserved. In the days of my dysfunction, where I was really seriously dysfunctional, I was screaming and yelling and my throat chakra was just like raging, because I wasnt quietly angry, I was raging loud angry, so again it played in that arena for me. Which thats not what you want in your family experience, because your children are deeply affected by that. Okay, so these are for you to have for your own reference. I encourage you to Syl has her workbooks in the back, shes also put together this lovely kit of oils, because each month we will be teaching you a different essential oil that will assist you. We want you to use the tools so you dont have to work with just your own thoughts and try that. When you use these interventions and other resources, oils, gemstones, yoga positions, techniques, theyre working for you; so these are also available and she has a really shes an amazing woman. She said Well, just one day I started to draw. Yeah, right. Did you do this? You did your workbook? And Im you just sat down and you drew? all your chakras are open and working and you can make this beautiful art, and wow. But these are in the back, these bookmarks. Another thing thats very important, chakras need to be communicating with each other. They are a system of sound and light. One of their primary means of communication is through sound, tones, vibrational tones. Most people, if we were to check you, your chakras are not working as a whole team. Theyre working independent, and at times they can be working against each other, so that there are actually power centers that are trying to sabotage and overrun the other one Thats sort of when your heart chakra is not connected to your throat chakra and these centers up here, or the lower chakras are not connected to the upper chakras. Youre either working with all three lower ones, and youre stuck there and youre not getting into the higher energy 2010 Carol Tuttle Page of 33 All rights reserved. systems. Your communication between the chakras will help your whole system resolve a lot of its own issues, without you having to do a lot of this tedious healing work. CENTERING WITH BREATHING Syl: Okay, you just want to center yourselves. Lets all kind of there we go. I didnt even have to mention the breath. You started breathing before, just take some nice deep breaths, and rather than really forcing the ujia breath, its really nice just to touch the tongue on the tip of the palette and just gently turn the corners of the mouth up and open up the back of the palette and then just gently closing your eyes, take your awareness to your feet, and just observe whats going on there. Can you feel them? How centered do you feel that within your feet? And just gently drawing your awareness up into your ankles, your heels, and just listening to whatever words come to mind as you take your awareness to that part of your body.
Taking a nice deep breath in. Just slowly turn the palms of your hands up, and draw your awareness up your shins and your calves, to the back of your knees, the front of your knees, underneath your knee cap, up your thighs. Do you feel your legs? How connected to they feel? Do you feel the ground beneath your feet? Just whatever comes to mind, just make a mental note of that. Taking another nice deep breath in. Bring your awareness to the base of your spine. Does it feel rooted to the ground, to the chair beneath you? What images come to mind? Any colors, sounds, imagery? Taking it up through the lower pelvis, over the hip joints, drawing your breath deep into the lower belly, just being aware of the center of your body. Connectiveness, what you feel, another deep breath in, just draw the breath up from the lower abdomen to the navel. Let the breath and the movement of your awareness just wrap around to the backside of you to the kidneys, the 2010 Carol Tuttle Page of 34 All rights reserved. adrenal glands, your spine, your low back, if it could say any one word to you, what would that word be? Taking a nice deep breath in, just really opening up the navel, letting the belly sink forward as you take a nice inhalation. As you exhale, just feel the pressure from the belly all the way up to the base of the sternum, around your mid back and the tightness, drawing the breath in through the sides of your ribs, as you breath in allow the ribs to expand out to the sides. As you exhale, allow them to relax down in the shape of a cone, as the muscles bring them down to a point. Inhaling, out, go ahead and let the ribs expand again, and draw the breath all the way up into the heart. Without judgment or reservation, just observe what you feel as though you were witnessing. What does the heart say to you? Taking a deep breath in, let it draw all the way up through the sternum, through the breastbone, through the shoulders, take a nice deep breath in, through the heart, and your exhale move out through your shoulders, your elbows, the palms of your hands, another deep breath in. Just allow any tightness there to open and make space, then as though you were breathing through the little soft notch in between your clavicles, take a breath in, as though it were a drink of cool water. Go ahead and swallow to release the throat, and as you exhale, just allow your exhalation to move out the back of the shoulders, the scapula draw down, taking another nice deep breath in. Let it carry all the way out to the tip of the nose, the soft palette and just gently release the breath. Softening the jaw, quieting the ears, just allowing your ears to be hollow and open. On your next inhalation, just gently with your lids closed, bring the gaze of your eyes to the center of the forehead, hold there at the top of the breath, and exhale releasing your 2010 Carol Tuttle Page of 35 All rights reserved. eyes back to center as you release. Focusing your attention on the brow, center of the forehead, just imagine you were in a place where you could just allow water to wash over the forehead, down the sides of the head, and what would that water reveal? Taking your awareness on your next inhalation, draw your breath all the way up to the crown of the head, feel the wideness in your sinuses, allow your eyes to relax and widen, through your mind, and just allow that connection, the extension through the crown of the head, how tight does your scalp feel? Taking a nice deep breath in, draw the breath and the eyes all the way up to the center of the forehead, and as you exhale, allow them to relax down and allow the exhalation to move down through the back of your head, as though someone were caressing your from your forehead all the way back, down the neck. Taking your next inhalation all the way up the brow, allow the breath to move all the way down through the tailbone, down past the spine, just being there with these centers of your body. Bring your awareness to your spirit. Can you feel it inside of you, around you? Can you feel it only in your head and your shoulders and your arms? How does your spirit feel to be connected with your physical self? If it were an element, what would it be? Sit with that for a moment, with your breath. Namaste. QUESTIONS AND CLOSING Carol: Questions about anything that weve covered, shared tonight? Anything that we have not, that you want more feedback on? Were just going to take the last 12 minutes, because we close our programs on time, because youve pretty much expired yourself here and we want to respect and honor you and yourself and your experience, because we just need to keep that in place, so we are going to close 2010 Carol Tuttle Page of 36 All rights reserved. by 9:30, just so you know. So raise your hand if you have a question. Female: Could you tell me how to determine the dominant chakra? Carol: Okay, this is a little imagery that was taught to me by a person who does energy work years ago, and rather than take the time tonight, Ill give you the overview of it, and you can play with this on your own. It does take your ability to do some guided imagery with yourself. Its very simple, its kind of elementary. This gentleman did this imagery with me, and he said pretend youre a spirit in the spirit realm, and youre just about to launch yourself into your physical experience, and youre going to go down a slide. At the bottom of that slide it divides into seven chutes. Each of those chutes are represented chakras are the same colors as the rainbow, if you didnt notice that. Its like God has a sense of humor and hes kind of pointing these things out to us everywhere. Starting with the root chakra with red, and then it goes on up the scale. So he had me imagine this slide that went down, and these chutes that went under an arch in each of the colors of the chakra, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet. And he said, Watch, just let yourself go, and see which one you go under, which one you go shooting under. And so I went through this whole imagery, and I said I went through the blue one. And he already knew, you can, as you do energy work you can get a sense of what peoples dominant energy stations are, so a lot of people in this work could point that out to you, but he wanted me to get a connection with that. He said, Youre right. Youre dominant chakra is your throat chakra, and its complemented by your sixth chakra, your intuition, and its supported by your intuitive knowing and your communicating that to others. So well actually some people are really quick, and theyre 2010 Carol Tuttle Page of 37 All rights reserved. like oh, I already did that, just as I verbally walked you through it. Well actually go through that with some set up where you can close your eyes and tune it; well do that next time. But its very elementary, some people may go oh no, I dont know it. I couldnt decide. I felt like I had to pick and I went down the wrong one. You know. Syl: In the imagery that I did, there was one place that you took a deep breath, and that was just so easy for you, and you felt really there, and really live, and really present with that section of your body, and it resonated. Not to mention the throat chakra for you, that would be a dominant area for you. Female: Carol, will you share this week the relationship to the color red with the root chakra? Carol: Well, all energy is sound and light. Its the vibration of sound, and its the colors. Were not even aware of all colors. We see a certain color spectrum in our 3D and our dimension here. Im sure there are many, many other colors our human eyes are not connecting with, so the red the color of red resonates with that first chakra. Im going to let you actually answer this questions. Syl: Red, vibrationally, is the slowest color vibration. It is also in relation to earth, and blood is a its not a symbol of that, but blood is a part of physical existence and its very grounded. Thats whats here, and it keeps us going. Carol: Look at the color of the chairs youre sitting on. Thats really interesting, what a phenomena, that we happened to have red chairs to help you ground. So you can really tune it. Syl: One more class, and then they go to orange. (laughter) Female: Carol, Im just wondering, have you outgrown some of the things that you began to teach? Carol: Not at all. Have I outgrown Im still in kindergarten with that. What I wrote in Remembering Wholeness is universal in nature. Its just theres such, just really living that at a masters 2010 Carol Tuttle Page of 38 All rights reserved. level is to be like God, its to be like Christ, and you can never outgrow that in this dimension. Id have to transcend, Id have to translate or something. Im married, theres no way. (laughter) I have children. I blew up at my son right before I came here tonight, and Im like Dang, thats just not okay. You know? Its not good energy and its not appropriate to process my emotion onto my child. Its a daily commitment, honestly. The difference I guess, with me, is Ive made it a daily commitment, because it is.
Every day its a commitment to be conscious about my thoughts, my emotions, and my creations, and Im very conscious about it. When you teach it as frequently as I do, and you have so many people then mirroring back to you their gratitude, you hold yourself accountable in a big way, to really walk your talk. So if nothing else, I wanted to make sure I really got this. So thanks for all of you helping me be accountable. Ill close with that. You may want you say your gratitude statement. Syl: Its just wonderful, grateful, its going to be a wonderful year. 2010 Carol Tuttle Page of 39 All rights reserved.
