Main cost drivers SWAN proposed solution (as per our offer

OF-S13-0156_Rev0 to AlToukhi)
(according to VGB guidelines VGB-006-00-
2012-09-EN and VGB-S-010-T-00;2011-
12.EN)
SEC requirements as per standard specifications
Single stream
analyzers
Only for critical parameters as pH and
conductivity applied.
Where acceptable, Oxygen, Sodium and
Silica analyzers are shared.
Only single stream analyzers allowed.
For complex analyzers, this leads to high system
investment and operating cost.
Shared coolers
and analyzers for
SAT and SUP
steam
SWAN shares the sample coolers for
SAT/SUP steam of the same pressure level
(manually selectable).
This is common practice, when SAT steam
monitoring is required only for detail
diagnosis or troubleshooting.
No shared coolers for SAT and SH steams allowed.
Chloride
analyzers
Not offered as usually chloride is not required
as an online measured parameter.
Generally, chloride concentration is measured
in the laboratory as part of detail diagnostic
analysis program.
Dedicated analyzer for Chloride for required samples.
Please note that at the moment there is no online
analyzer available on the market which can measure
within the required range of 0 100 ppb.
Ammonia
analyzers
Ammonia concentration can be derived from
specific and acid conductivity (this is a
routine method, accepted by VGB, IAPWS
and EPRI).
SWAN analyzers already feature the
appropriate ammonia calculation routines
which are in use in many power plants around
the world.

Dedicated analyzers required for Ammonia, despite the
fact that such analyzers are not common practice.

Steam sampling

SWAN proposes to measure additionally
Main HP steam upstream MSCV and Main
LP steam upstream ASV lines, and to
provide the full monitoring scope for these 2
lines, since these are the critical steam
samples with associated guarantee
requirements from the steam turbine
manufacturer side.

Not clearly defined in relation to the actual BOP
design.
SEC specification leaves a lot of room for
interpretation in this point: as there are multiple
HRSGs per block, SEC list can be interpreted in such
way as to require the full analysis scope in EACH
steam sample from EACH HRSG.
Subsystem cost Reduced number of subsystems per power
plant block, since 1 shelter can contain sample
conditioning and analyzers for 3-4 HRSGs,
provided that the monitoring concept is
adapted to the actual BOP and optimized in
scope as proposed in our offer.
Due to the amount of sample lines/analyzers, an
individual sampling shelter per HRSG may be required
(already considered within this price).
> Since each sampling shelter requires expensive base
infrastructure such as electrical cabinet, PLC, chiller,
lab space etc., costs are exponentially higher the more
subsystems are required.
Note that also from an operator perspective, too many
subsystems per power plant block should be avoided.
