New installation procedure: Please follow the instruction on the insert slip (in the diskette sleeve).
2. Dynamic memory allocation By this new technique, the processor will run under available RAM memory in the computer.
3. Processor name "SSAP14.EXE" is changed to "SSAP0G.EXE". 4. New SSAP0G.EXE works for either "NDYN=14" or "NDYN=0".
****************************************************** Release notes on SSAP0G prior to version 7.04D February/May 1988 ****************************************************** I. How to create an input file for a finite element model with gap element The processor's name for static analysis with gap element is denoted as SSAP0G.EXE. The element type for gap element is 14.
The input format for gap element is intentionally set to the same as that in truss element (Element type 1). Their corresponding designations are given as follows (Please see the SUPERSAP REFERENCE MANUAL for the definition of notation). Truss element <==> Gap element --------------------------- ---------------------------- Variable Description Variable Description -------- ----------------- -------- ------------------ NPAR(1) Number 1 NPAR(1) Number 14 NPAR(2) Number of element NPAR(2) Number of element NPAR(3) Material sets NPAR(3) Stiffness sets **** (Not used) NPAR(4) Calculation steps

(1) By temperarily treating the gap elements as truss elements, use AEDIT (a pre-processor from Algor) to generate an SSAP0 input file with truss elements.
(2) Use a word processor (text editor) of your choice to change two input values in SSAP0 input file created by AEDIT: -1-NPAR(1): Change "1" to "14" (Cloumns 1-5 in the first card of truss element group in SSAP0 input file) -2-KK : Default is "0" (Compression gap element, gap defined by the end points). Change this number to designate the desired gap type, if required. The SSAP0 input file then becomes SSAP0G input file after this step. (B) AEDIT version after May 25, 1988
This new version of AEDIT allows the input of gap element. II. Examples Three examples, VE14001, VE14002 and VE14003 are included in the ALGOR diskette. - 2 -
