FCV TECHNOLOGY
I N T R O D U C E S T H E
FCV, which stands for Frequency Control Valve, is the latest patented innovation from the engineers at BOS.
FCV is a technology that BOS has been using in various motorsport category of the past few years. Most
notably in the offroad category (Rally Raid, Rally Cross, Sprint Car and Motocross) most notably in the Dakar
on Carlos Sainz SMG-Redbull car.

BOS has been using the FCV system quite successfully in motorsport for a few years now, however
adapting it to be DH world cup contender proved to be an exciting challenge Said Olivier Bossard Founder
of BOS MTB.
This adaptation of the FCV to meet the needs of mountain bike pilots, represents countless hours of
development for BOS. The system was developed over 2 world cup seasons with the experience of world cup
pilots and extended use of our data acquisition system in the off season.
Until now suspension settings were a compromise between grip, efficiency, comfort, support and shock
absorption. The FCV now revolutionize the suspension by acting as a second damper inside the fork.
The FCV allows to keep the BOS feeling that riders are now accustomed to, while offering a level of comfort
and small bumps absorption unseen before with a regular fork.
The FCV is a smart system able to recognize if the compression is coming from the riders effort applied to the bars
or an impact to the wheel. The Frequency Control Valve makes the distinction between the two, at the same time
the FCV will filter a wider range of shock coming to the fork.
SOME NOTICEABLE EFFECTS EXPECTED FROM THE FCV :
A buttery feeling
Reduction of hands and arm fatigue
Better absorption of square hit
Reduces the risk of pinch flatting and rims denting
More comfort on braking bumps
Less nose diving

Making its World Cup debut this past weekend in Meribel, France is the new a new
redesigned IDYLLE RaRe equipped with FCV technology.
REDESIGNED CHASSIS
The chassis redesign is mostly due to the increased popularity of the 650B wheel size
on the DH circuit.
The increased stanchions diameter - from 36mm to 37mm - improves the overall stiffness
just enough to counter any extra stress generated by the larger 27.5 wheel size.
We also redesigned the casting to improve tire clearance..
INCREASED TRAVEL
The redesigned IDYLLE RaRe FCV now offers 208mm of smooth travel. Even though
8mm seems like a small increase in travel, its all that was necessary to obtain the
progressivity we were looking for.
NEW HYDRAULIC BUMP STOP
The IDYLLE RaRe FCV is now equipped with our latest generation hydraulic
bump stop.
We made a great performing hydraulic bump stop even better. Our world cup
racers were already very impressed with the progressivity of the bump stop.
However, tests performed on the test bench showed a visible transition when
the bump stop would come in action. The new bump stop features a longer
curve and is more progressive to the point of being hard to detect even on the
test bench.
NEW AIR CARTRIDGE
The most important change is that the air cartridge is now independent
from the stanchion.
By the doing this, it allows the fork to flex a little without putting pressure
on the air cartridge. The result is a more sensitive and more accurate fork
even under stress.
