INTRODUCTION
The Nigerian Society of Engineers was established in London, England
on February 6, 1958 with Engr. Chief G. O. Aiwerioba as President and
Engr. Chief T. TejuOyeleye as Secretary. Approximately a year later,
Nigerian Branch of the Society was established at Abeokuta on January
18, 1959 followed shortly afterwards by the establishment of the
National Secretariat in Lagos with Engr. Chief Adeniyi Williams as
President and Engr. Chief G. O. Aiwerioba as Secretary.
The Society was formally inaugurated in Lagos on August 20, 1960 by
the Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Sir Abukakar
Tafawa Balewa.
In addition to the National Secretariat at the National Engineering
Centre, off National Mosque-Labour House Road
Central Area, Abuja, the Society maintains a Liaison Office at the Lagos
National Engineering Centre, Lagos. The Society has Fifty Eight (59)
Branches in nearly all the States of the Federation.
The NSE is the national umbrella organization for the Engineering
Profession in the country. Like some of its counterparts in other
countries, the Society has distinguished itself through progressive and
imaginative programmes to become the avenue for true professorial
development of its members as well as the technological development
of the country
OBJECTIVE
The objective of the Society is to promote the advancement of
engineering education, research and practiceof Engineering in all its
ramifications. Naturally, this is with a view to maintaining and
enhancing the professional capabilities of its members so as to better
equip them to fulfill the needs of the profession for the good of the
public and the nation.
MEMBERSHIP
Membership is open to all who possess qualifications that are
accredited by the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria

while Volume II shouldcompriseDetailed Project Report and BEME,
as may be applicable to the candidate's field of Engineering.
e. The Report should follow the general format for Technical Report
writing and should not be a mere catalogue of position held and
work done. It should be a discussion of problem encountered in the
practice of Engineering and steps taken to surmount them. This
should be clear evidence that the candidate has acquired
worthwhile experience.
f. The Postgraduate Experience Report must contain minimum of
three (3) projects the candidate has carried out or participated
within the four or more years of pupilage.
