Application
The Separator Ancillary Unit (SAU) is designed to accom-
modate all basic system equipment to support the Alfa Laval
FOPX, LOPX, MFPX and MOPX separators.
Concept
The SAU comprises all the basic system equipment required
by the centrifugal separator, assembled on a frame. Although
compact, the SAUs carefully planned design makes it easy to
install, operate and maintain.
Each SAU is tested with respect to function and quality
before shipment. Taking delivery of a Separation System with
SAU and installing it requires minimum work.

Design and components
The SAU includes all basic system equipment required by the
centrifugal separator to form a complete Separation System.
The components are assembled on the frame together with
the pipes and flanges. The unit is then painted Alfa Laval
standard deep blue, and thoroughly tested.
The SAU comprises:
EPC 41/400 control unit
Water transducer type WT 200
(not for MOPX)
Flow indicator
High pressure switch
Low pressure switch
Regulating valve
Pneumatic 3-way valve
Solenoid valve block, water
Solenoid valve block, air
Pressure gauge
Thermometer
Flexible hoses (not on frame)
Emergency stop push-button
(not on frame)
Starter (optional)
Installation
Installing the SAU requires a minimum
of work. The following connections
need to be made.
1. Oil separator. Four flanges to be
connected.
2. Air. LOPX and MOPX require one
connection to SAU. FO/MFPX
require one connection to SAU, and
one between SAU and separator.
3. Water. Connections to be made: to
SAU, between SAU and separator
and between SAU and operating
water tank/water supply.
In all cases, it is required that the SAU
is mounted on a solid foundation to
prevent movement.

separators in the following series:
FOPX, MFPX, LOPX and MOPX.
