PURPOSE : The purpose of this standard maintenance procedure is for to carry out
Overhaulin ! No load tests of all type of "# S$uirrel cae ! slip rin induction
motors after re%indin/ repairin inside the Electrical &or'shop.

a1/ OVERHAULING 1SLIP RING INDUCTION MOTOR/
Overhaulin of the motor is to (e carried out as per follo%in procedure.

) Thorouhly clean the motor (ody (y (lo%in air/cotton %aste/'erosene.
* +ismantle motor completely.
, #lean the %indin of (oth stator and rotor if contaminated %ith dust- oil-
rease (y sprayin .ectra clean- /etrol etc.
0 1eat (oth stator and rotor %indin at least )* hrs prefera(ly in electric oven.
"pply varnish or (ac'tol red finishin varnish over the %indin in hot condition.
2 1eat till the varnish dries up.
3 4easure I.R. value of (oth stator and rotor %ith 200V/)5V meer. If it is
(elo% ) 4 ohms then same is to (e re%ound.
6 "fter heatin- (earin is chec'ed for pittin mar' in the inner race- e7cessive
a(normal sound etc. and if any of these a(normality persists then replace (earin.
8 #hec' rotor sliprins for %orn out/smoothness. If re$uired- smoothen it (y fine
emery paper. 4eer IR value of sliprins %.r.t. (ody and see that values are
comin more than ) 4 ohms.
9 #hec' car(on (rush condition- if found %ornout replace it. #hec' car(on (rush
holder and see that sprins are in ood condition to put proper pressure- other%ise
replace ne% (rush holders.
)0 "ssem(le the motor and no load trial is ta'en for atleast 0/2 hours durin %hich
(earin sound- temperature or any other sound for the motor- noload current is
chec'ed /measured- (efore finally handin over to service.
)) If re$uired paint the motor (ody (y oil paint and ta the motor specifyin date of
overhaulin and status of the motor %ith proper identification mar's.
