Install Oracle 10g in Windows 7. Oracle 10g is database management system.

10g
versions is not compatible directly to install on window 7. But can be made compatible
to run and install in it without any error. Here are some of the steps that we need to
follow to run this setup.

Steps to Install Oracle 10g in Windows 7
1.) In the 10g downloaded folder search the setup application as shown. Right click the
setup file and select properties and then compatibility tab as shown below.
2.) Select and tick check-box of Run this program in compatibility mode for : Windows
XP Service pack 3 as shown.

3.) Run the setup by right clicking on it and select run as administrator.
4.) Enter password as indicated. Do enter the password that will always be remembered
by you, as this password is used for many other functionality and click next.

5.) Click on the check-box if this warning is appeared and click on next.

6.) Click on next again and wait for the process to complete

After the process has been completed, this below window will appear.

7.) Select Password management

Now unlock the user that you want to unlock. For instance i would recommend you to
unlock scott, hr and sys, by un-checking the tick mark. Type password as for :
Scott > tiger
hr > hr
system > manager and re enter the password for all this field and select ok.
8.) This makes you to install oracle.
Now to ensure that it is properly installed, run it by select start menu > All Programs >
oralce oraDb10g_home1 >application Development > sql plus.exe. Now type in user
name and password.

9.) If this lines appears in the application you are done with installing oracle 10g
successfully in windows 7.

Your database configuration files have been installed in d:\oracle\product\10.2.0 while other

not to accidentally delete these configuration files.
