were adopted; but were all connected. If you dont believe were family you havent felt what

cannotdescribe.Butthisisntfiction,thisisreallifeourlife.
In yesterdays EA conference at E3 they chose to showcase an allnew trailer of FIFA 15 which
openedwiththeimpassionednarrationquotedabove.Itwascertainlyenoughtostirfeelinginside
anyfootballfananditwasnicetoseeEAusesomerealfootageoffootballfanstodemonstrate
whothegamehadbeenmadefor.Indeed,thispassionatetrailerwasafittingchoiceformanyof
theupgradesthedevelopershaveimplementedintoFIFA15,asweshalldiscussalittlelater.

Fromthetraileritisclearthatahostofamendments,overhaulsandadditionshavebeenmadeto
forthcomingfootballgametoensurethatitimprovesonitspredecessor,FIFA14,inallareas.The
trailerstaglineisFeelTheGameandEAensurewedothankstotheemotiveopeningsequence
and the plethora of exciting new features. Here are the 10 major things revealed in the FIFA 15
trailer:
10.EliteTackling
Instalments of FIFA in recent years have tended to always favour the attacking player. If youre
blitzingdownthewingwithLucasMoura,forexample,theoddsfavourthatyouarenotonlygoing
to beat even a quality leftback like Henri Bedimo, but youre going to make him look like a
lumbering carthorse in the process. Calculations by EA revealed that around 80% of tackles in
professionalfootballresultinthedefenderbeingsuccessfulsotheyfeltthatthetacklingintheir
FIFAseriesneededamending.Basedonwhatweveseeninthetrailerandalsosuggestionsmade
byEACanada,morepowerwillbegiventothedefendingplayerinFIFA15.InyesterdaysE3trailer
we saw fourgoals and three noteworthy tackles this obviously still seems more offensively
orientatedbutincomparisontothefootageofpreviousyearsthereisadefinitesensethatmore
emphasisisbeingplaceondefence.Indeed,thefirstfootballactionweareshowninthetraileris
ofAaronRamseydeliveringacrunchingslidingtackletoSpursmidfielderMousaDemblthis
couldbeastatementofintentbyEA,showinghowtheyintendtoforegrounddefensiveplay.
9.VisualDetails
We always see an array of visual improvements from one FIFA game to another. While we have
coveredallofthenoteworthyonesinotherpointsonthislist,thereareseveralminorgraphical
tweakswhichdeservementioning.PlayershairwillnolongerresemblethatofLegomenastheir
locks will now flow and bob as the movement of theirbody demands it. Unfortunately Zlatan is
shownwithhishairtiedbacksowecantseehislusciouslocksflowingashesprints,butweget
someindicationofthehairphysicsasNeymarrunstocelebratewithhisBarcelonateammatesin
the final shot of the trailer. Other visual flourishes we will see in FIFA 15 include realistic LED
hoardings, grass and mudstained kits and collisions with the corner flags. On the surface these
additions may seem trivial but when combined they make FIFA 15 a far more realistic overall
package.
8.PlayerAnatomy
FIFA14waswithoutquestionthebestlookinginstalmentinthefranchiseuponitsreleasebutas
is always the case the latest entry into EAs football series blows it out of the water. FIFA 15
amends,improvesandoverhaulsmanyofitspredecessorsgraphicalshortcomingsbutonesetof
changeswhichareimmediatelystrikingaretheupgradedplayermodels.FIFA14mayhavedonea
stellarjobcapturingthelikenessofplayersfacesbutyoudidntfeelliketheelevenmenatyour
control were professional, toplevel athletes. The players on FIFA 14 had generic, illdefined
physiques which didnt lend themselves to making the player think they were in command of
sportsmen. On the other hand, the first player we are shown on FIFA 15 is the 64, muscular
Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany, who instantly confirms that much more details has
beenputintothedetailoftheplayersanatomy.Thetrailerthengoesontoshownumerousother
worldclassplayersandtheirimprovedcharactermodelssuchasZlatanIbrahimovi,MarcoReus
andLionelMessi;showcasingeverybulgingmuscleandtwitchingligament.
7.DynamicDribbling
ThemightofthetacklemayhavebeenincreasedforFIFA15butseveraldribblingimprovements
may mean that the offensiveplayer still has a few tricks to beat his tackler after all, we dont
want every match to end as a bore draw! When we are shown Zlatan Ibrahimovi proficiently
skippingpastarecklesstacklefromNevenSuboti,itisclearthatseveralimprovementshavebeen
made to heighten the realism of the dribbling this development has been confirmed by EA.
Thenewpointofcontactsystemmeansthateverytouchoftheplayersbootontheballwillaffect
itstrajectorywhileagreateremphasiswillbeplacedonaplayersagility.Theimprovedlocomotion
systemenablestherosteroftalenttoturnontheballmoreaccurately,allowingthemtoshieldthe
ballfromawouldbetackler.Thisimprovedballcontrolalsotranslatestothesubtledetailofleft
footed players having superior control when dribbling on their left side. This means the likes of
Messi,RobbenandBalewillnowbemosteffectivewhentheyareusedtotakeadvantageoftheir
favouredleftboot.
6.EnhancedBallPhysics
A new suite of ball physics to improve the realistic movement of the ball was introduced to last
yearsgame.Theaforementionedpointofcontactsystemmeansthateveryinteractionwiththe
ballundergoesaseriesofmindbogglingcalculationsputtogetherbythecodersatEACanada.To
usnongeniuses,thisimprovementbasicallymeansthatthemomentum,directionandspinofthe
ballisfarmorephysicallyrealisticthaninFIFA14.Theballisshowntomoveincrediblyfluidlyin
thetrailer.ParticularhighlightsincludeAtlticoMadridcaptainRalGarcaslicingonewideofthe
post,theballspinninguncontrollablyduetothepoorcontact,andworryinglyforEnglandsWorld
CupeffortLuisSurezswervingabeautifulfreekickoverJoeHart.Thankfullywearereminded
ofthefactthatLiverpoolsridiculouslytalentedstrikerhashadissuesputtingitpastHartinreal
life.Theimprovementmaybesubtlebuttheballsmovementirrefutablynowlooksmorenatural;
letsnotforgetthatfootballisessentiallyallaboutaballbouncingupanddownandsidetoside
sothisadditionisdeceptivelypivotal.
5.Destructible Pitch
AnannoyingissuewithFIFA14whichforcedyoutosuspendyourdisbeliefwaswhenyouwould
beplayingthrough90minutesoftorrentialrainandthepitchwouldremainaspristineasasnooker
table when the action was done. It was bad enough that the weather was limited to alternate
betweentheextremesofdrynessandnonstoprain,butwhenthedamppitcheswerentgetting
trampled, trodden and ripped into, it felt like a big visual omission. In the trailer we are shown
MousaDemblonanexplosiverunonasoddenpitch,hisbigNikebootsleavingtheirmarkon
thegrassashesprinted.Thiswillmeanthatafteranhourandahalfofhardplay,thepitchisgoing
tobeaverydifferentplacetowhenthegamebegun.Thoughthisimprovementwillbeexclusively
visual as the movement of the ball wont be effected by divots or clumps of mud, it is a long
overduevisualadditionwhichwillcertainlyremindusthatthisisFIFAsfirstpropernextgenouting.
4.LivingCrowd
Inaneatlittlestylisticflourish,thenewFIFA15traileropenswithrealfootageoffootballfanatics
aroundtheworldrangingfromBarcelonaandCitytoSunderlandfansbeforeabruptlycutting
to the games presentation of supporters. This clever trick serves in highlighting just how
spectacularthegamesvisualsofthecrowdpackedstadiumsnowareaswellashowfartheyhave
comesincethoseweoriginallysawonFIFA14lastgen.Longgonearethedaysofthosehorrendous
cardboardcutoutfanswhomadeuswishEAhadjustmadethestadiumsempty.IntheirE3trailer
thedeveloperswereabletoshowtheworldhowtheyhadtakeneventheimprovedcrowddetail
ofthenextgeneditionsofFIFA14toawholenewlevel.Notonlydoestheoverhauledcrowddetail
addalayerofdiversitytoeachandeveryfansothatwedontfeelliketheactionisbeingwatched
by a horde of Star Warsesque clones, but they have also captured the essence of a particular
teams support. In the very first shot of the trailers gamecontent we see Manchester City fans
performing their notorious Poznan celebration, followed by a horde of raucous Borussia
DortmundsupportersandfinallyastandfullofscarfbrandishingScousers.
3.LionelMessiStillEAsSweetheart
ThefinalpieceofactionEAchosetoendthetrailerwithisofLionelMessi;thefranchisescover
starandthemantheyhaveratedasbeingtheworldsgreatestplayerforeveryFIFAgameinrecent
memory.TheBarcelonastarisshowneffortlesslycontrollinganaerialpassfromateammatebefore
lettingflywithhispreferredleftboot.Thestunningshotsoarsintothetopleftcornerandleaves
AtlticoMadridsThibautCourtoispowerlesstostopitsflight.Theincrediblenatureofthestrike
combinedwithitsplacementasthelastsignificantpieceofactionshowinthetrailersuggeststhat
LionelMessiisstilllikelytobeconsideredthebestintheworldbyEA,despiteatepidseasonby
the Argentines standards. Many had believed that Cristiano Ronaldo impressive season at Real
Madrid marked by his win of the highly coveted Ballon dOr might have been enough for the
athleticPortugueseplayertoberatedashighlyorevenhigherthanMessionFIFA15.However,
thefactthatRonaldoiscompletelyabsentfromthetrailersuggeststhathisvirtualcounterpartwill
onceagainbelookinguptothelittleArgentine.
2.PlayerEmotion
OneofEAsmainobjectiveswithFIFA15wastoinstallasenseoffeelingandemotionintoagame
which was starting to feel a little stiff and robotic. The trailers tagline Feel The Game
announcestheirintenttoinfusetheirlatestentryintotheirfootballfranchisewithallofthepassion
anddramawhichmakesthesportwhatitis.Theaforementionedimprovementstheyhavemade
to the presentation of supporters certainly helps with this but changes made with the players
themselves does most of the work in capturing the emotion of the beautiful game. Each player
nowhasacomplexsystemofemotionsaswellasaningamememorysystemwhichdetermines
howtheywillreacttoaneventinthematch.Therearenowsome600differentreactionswhicha
playercanusetoexpresshimself,sonolongerwillwehavetositthroughthesamelimitedrange
ofanimationsoverandoveragainasonFIFA14.Forexample,ifyourforwardhasmissedoneshot
toomanyhemightreceiveexasperatedlooksfromhisteammatesorasternwordfromthesquads
captain.WeseeseveralexamplesofthisinthetrailerasMousaDemblandAaronRamseywho
hadbeenjostlingwithoneanotherventtheirfrustrationsbysquaringup.Similarly,whenRal
GarcamissesanimportantshothisteammatesonthebenchgaspandtheaggravatedSpaniard
dropstothefloorandbeatshisfistsintothedirt.Thisadditionofemotionalintelligenceislong
overdueandwillprovetobeahugeadditiontoFIFA15,encapsulatingthereasonwhymanyofus
originallyfellinlovewiththesport.
1.DiverseTactics
Inspiredbytheadditionoftheadvancedingameemotions,FIFA15willimplementadvancedteam
tacticsdeterminedbythecontextofthematchinquestion.NolongerwilltheCPUcontinuetoplay
thesamewayiftheyneedanequaliserinthefinal5minutestheywillthrowcautiontothewind
and pile players forward in the hope of scoring that all important goal. Similarly, if a team has
amassed a decent lead they will do a Jos Mourinho and parkthe bus to guarantee the victory.
With the players on the field showing their emotional complexity combined witha playing style
whichshowshowimportantthegameistothem,FIFA15feelsfarclosertotherealthingthanthe
precedingyearsgame.Theimportanceofwinningtoateamisalsoshownintheirreactionafter
scoringagoalwhichtheyhavealteredtheirtacticstoachieve:afterscoringthatvitalgoal,theteam
can engage in a 10man celebration to show how much it means to them. The final shot of the
