Amazon Rain forest destruction Why we need to protect the Amazon: We need to save the amazon from the ongoing illegal logging, cattle grazing, farming, road building, hydroelectric dams, and mining operations. The consequences that the Amazon suffers from because of the destruction is: soil erosion, water & air pollution, carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, loss of biodiversity by extinction of animals and plants, global warming increases, loss of tribes, wide spread flooding, & epidemics. All of that is affecting the Earths survival, and our own.
