SCHOLARSHIPS – Applications requiring an official high school transcript or a counselor’s signature must be submitted
to the Counseling Center 15 school days prior to postmark deadline. Official transcripts must be mailed directly from our
office to the college or scholarship. See Mrs. Butera for information or applications. Most colleges offer available scholarships
when students apply to their school. Please contact prospective colleges to inquire about scholarship opportunities.
There is a binder with copies of the available scholarships located in the Counseling Center.

Acadia PTA Scholarship – Two scholarships of $750 each are being offered to deserving seniors who attended for at least two full
years and graduated from Acadia. Student must plan to attend a two or four year college or a technical school. Student must have a
satisfactory academic record (B or above) and demonstrate participation in extra-curricular activities, in-service activities, sports,
clubs, family responsibilities, employment and/or music. Deadline to the Counseling Center is March 5, 2010.

AXA Achievement Community Scholarship program offers a $2,000 college scholarship to seniors who have demonstrated
outstanding achievement in their activities in school, the community or the workplace. You may download an application at
www.axa-achievement.com or request one in the Counseling Center and return it with your transcript request by January 25, 2010.

Cargill Community Scholarship Program – Cargill will award $1,000 scholarships to 350 high school seniors in the United States
who live in communities where Cargill has a business presence. Students are selected based on academic achievement and leadership
in extracurricular and civic activities. Each applicant must have a signature from a Cargill employee on the application in order to be
eligible. Students are encouraged to visit the facilities in our area which are Horizon Milling LLC, 101 Normanskill Street in Albany
and Cargill Grain and Oilseed, Port of Albany, 100 Grain Street in Albany. Students must plan to enroll in a 2 or 4 year college.
Applications must be submitted online at: www.ffa.org. by February 15, 2010.

Christy Fund - This scholarship was set up in remembrance of Christina Massa, a member of the Class of 2002. The fund will award
four $500 grants to student athletes who plan to continue their secondary education and one $500 grant to a student who has taken a
business sequence and plans to continue their secondary education in Business/Marketing. Deadline to the Counseling Center is
March 8, 2010.

Clifton Park Soccer Club/Rose & Kiernan, Inc is offering (4) $1,000 scholarships to seniors of Shenendehowa. They must be
registered players with Clifton Park Club for the 2009-2010 soccer season and will be continuing their formal education in the fall of
2010. Applications are available in the Counseling Center and need to be returned by December 17, 2009.

Dollars for Scholars – is offering several scholarships: Community News Scholarship, Adam Haswell Memorial Scholarship, Susan
Jill Hughes Memorial Scholarship, Knights of Columbus Scholarship, New York Long Term Care Brokers Ltd., Nicole Lee Memorial
Scholarship, Patrick James O’Donnell Memorial Scholarship, Matthew Proctor Memorial Scholarship, and John J. Sanvidge Memorial
Scholarship. Applications are available in the Counseling Center and must be returned by February 22, 2010.

Dorothea Deitz Memorial Scholarship Fund - Scholarships of $6,500, $5,500 and $4,500 will be awarded to three deserving
women students planning to major in Physical Education, Teacher Education. Awards will be made on the basis of character,
academic achievement, physical education competence, participation in athletics, qualities of leadership and financial need.
Applications can be completed and downloaded from the New York State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and
Dance (NYSAHPERD) website www.nysahperd.org. More information is available in the Counseling Center and applications need to
be returned to the Counseling Center by February 1, 2010.

Gowana PTA – is offering two $500 scholarships to graduating high school seniors who attended Gowana for at least 2 years. The
major emphasis of these awards is on student academic achievement during high school and involvement in extracurricular and
service activities. Applications are available in the Counseling Center and must be returned completed by March 5, 2010.

James Grande Award for Volunteerism – will award $750 to a student who is applying to a 2 or 4 year college. The college bound
student must demonstrate outstanding traits of character and service as evidenced by participation in volunteer activities at school
and/or in the community. Applications are available in the Counseling Center and the deadline is March 18, 2010.
Okte Elementary PTA Scholarship will award three scholarships of $500 each to deserving seniors who formally attended Okte.
The scholarship will be paid by the beginning of the fall semester to each recipient’s college or university. More information is
available in the counseling center. Applications must be returned by March 1, 2010.

PTA Stanley Marcus Youth Humanitarian Award – This award is presented to juniors or seniors for outstanding volunteer
community service and for having displayed humanitarian principles by word and deed in memory of Stanley Marcus who died in
1977 while serving as third vice president of the New York State Congress of Parents and Teachers. Applications are available in the
Counseling Center. Deadline is January 8, 2010.

PTA Jenkins Memorial Scholarship – High school seniors who plan to prepare for a teaching career and attend a SUNY college or a
two-year community college before transferring to a SUNY college for a degree in education are eligible to apply for an award of
$3,000 (over 4 years). The criteria for judging are character and personality, academic achievement and potential teaching ability.
Applicants passing the initial screening must attend a personal interview. Shenendehowa may submit two candidates. Students
interested in being nominated may submit resume and essay (not more than 300 words) “I want to be a teacher because ….” by
December 17, 2009.

SEFCU and the Credit Union Association of New York (CUANY) are offering scholarships to credit union members. If you are the
primary member on a SEFCU account and plan to attend a 2 or 4-year college for the first time in the fall of 2010, you are eligible to
apply for one of several $1,000 SEFCU scholarships or $1,000 or $500 awards through the annual CUANY scholarship program.
Students may call 518-451-2897 or 866-733-2880, ext. 2897 to request an application. Transcript requests for this application must be
made in the Counseling Center by December 22, 2009.

Tina A. Dailey Memorial Scholarship – A $1,000 scholarship is offered to a Shenendehowa High School graduate who plans to
attend a four year college or university to pursue a degree and career as an elementary teacher. Students must have maintained a
minimum of an 80 average and has demonstrated an interest and/or skill in working with children. Applications are available in the
Counseling Center and must be returned by March 1, 2010.

Tesago PTA Vincent R. DeLucia Scholarship is proud to offer two $750 scholarships to former Tesago students. Applications are
available in the Counseling Center and must be returned by March 5, 2010.

WORKSHOPS, OPEN HOUSES, CONTESTS AND OTHER SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES:

The New York Water Environment Association is conducting a poster contest on the importance of wastewater treatment plants
protecting our water. The winner will receive a $50 check. Posters must be received by January 8, 2010. More information is
available in the Counseling Center.
