Electric vehicle (EV) market in India is at a nascent stage

and is expected to grow by 45% over 2008-09 and 2009-10

Comprises of electric cars, three wheelers and electric
two-wheelers
Electric two-wheelers dominate the market with 97.5% of
the EV market

DRIVERS
Increasing crude oil prices
Low maintenance cost
Increasing demand for green cars in foreign market
Manufacturers providing incentives to attract
consumers
CHALLENGES
EVs to move from concept to daily use
High price
Lack of supply of spare parts
Government Initiatives
Charging infrastructure
Lack of optimum business models

Growing number of market participants are entering the
market
Automobile firms are launching EV version of conventional
car models
Increase in number of joint ventures, mergers and
acquisitions
EV players are seeking carbon credits

An electric car is an automobile that is propelled by one
electric motor or more, using electrical energy stored in
batteries or another energy storage device. Electric motors
give electric cars instant torque, creating strong and
smooth acceleration.

TYPES OF ELECTRIC VEHICLES

1. Battery Electric Vehicles: Use batteries to power an
electric motor which propels the vehicle. In "extended
range" electric vehicles, batteries are charged from the grid
and by a small gas engine that powers a generator which
powers the batteries (the engine doesn't propel the vehicle, it
recharges the batteries.)

2. Plug-in hybrid Vehicles: Use electricity and gas to move
vehicle's wheels. Some, or all, of that electricity comes from
the grid -- from "plugging in."

3. Hybrid Electric Vehicles: Use both an electric motor and
an internal combustion engine to propel the vehicle.

4. Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles: Combine hydrogen fuel and
oxygen to produce electricity used the power an electric
motor that moves the vehicle

POWERFUL ELECTRIC MOTOR

The impressively agile electric motor, developed by
TAZARI, combined with the high-voltage lithium ion
battery and intelligent energy management delivers
driving enjoyment and efficiency every time.
The electric motor of the ELECTRIKE is perfect for use
in urban areas, delivering 125 kW/170 hp with a
torque of 250 Nm. The full torque is instantly
available from a standstill a feature of electric
motors and does not need to be built up first
through engine speed, as it does with combustion
engines.

RANGE EXTENDER

The car features a tiny additional 650cc petrol
engine, which powers a generator to recharge the
battery while the car is on the move.
With this, the car can travel up to 300 kilometres on
a single charge, almost twice as far as the all-electric
car.

INFORMATIVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER

The car's onboard navigation system, which features
a mobile data connection as standard, displays
available charging stations within the car's current
range in real-time.
On-board computer with Check Control: provides
feedback on the vehicle's operating status, including
oil level indicator and distance to next service
appointment/oil change, as well as other detailed
information such as micro-filter status. It also
provides travel information travel range on
remaining charge, external temperature and more.

OPERATING MODES

The ELECTRIKE allows the driver to select the car energy
consumption through three different drive modes:
COMFORT, ECO PRO or ECO PRO+ mode. In the standard
COMFORT mode the CAR delivers a range of 160 km (100
mi). The ECO PRO mode increases the driving range by
around 12% through a different accelerator pedal mapping
which uses less power. In ECO PRO+ mode, all settings are
geared to achieving the maximum possible range,
increasing the driving range by about 24% compared with
COMFORT mode.

SAFETY AND SECURITY

Anti-theft alarm system
Acoustic safety belt warning
Programmable Daytime Running Lights
Front and rear Head Protection System (HPS)
Seat-mounted front side-impact airbags
Interlocking door anchoring system to help protect
against door intrusion in side impacts

PROMOTION

1. ELECTRICITY CORPORATION OFFICES AND WEBSITES
AS THE PRODUCT IS A ELECTRIC ONE IT IS BETTER TO
PROMOTE IT AT DISTRICT ELECTRICITY BOARD OFFICES AND
WEBSITES WHERE BILL PAYMENTS AND QUERIES ARE MADE.
IT IS BE HELPFUL BECAUSE IT HAS A LARGE NUMBER OF
FOOTFALLS THROUGHOUT THE WEEK
2. LIFESTYLE DESTINATIONS AND GOLF CLUBS
THESE ARE THE SECOND BEST PROMOTION PLACES AS
THESE HAVE A LARGE NO OF FOOTFALLS THROUGHOUT THE
WEEK PLUS THESE ARE MAINLY USED IN MALLS AND GOLF
CLUBS( BEING POLLUTION FREE) TO FERRY PEOPLE FROM
ONE PLACE TO ANOTHER

3. FOREIGN SUMMITS IN COUNTRY AND UNIVERSITY AREAS
EXAMPLES CAN BE OF THE VARIOUS ENVIRONMENTAL AND
OTHER SUMMITS HELD IN THE CAPITAL CITIES WHERE
AMBASSADORS AND DELEGATES FROM FOREIGN VISIT THE
COUNTRY. IT CAN ALSO BE PROMOTED AS A NOISE AND
POLLUTION FREE VEHICLE IN THE MAJOR UNIVERSITY
RESIDENTIAL AREAS.

4. THROUGH TELEVISION MEDIA, MAGAZINES , NEWSPAPERS
AND RADIO

TARGET POPULATION

AGED AND RETIRED CITIZENS- EG RETIRED TEACHERS,
ARMYMEN, GOVT OFFICIALS YOUNG POPULATION-
GENERALLY BETWEEN 19-25 YRS OF AGE WHICH INCLUDE
COLLEGE GOING AND OFFICE GOING PEOPLES.

MARKETING CITIES

TIER 1 AND TIER 2 CITIES OF INDIA WITH DEVELOPED
INFRASTRUCURE
FINANCE STRATEGY

1. AUTO LOAN-TIE UP WITH SBI BANK FOR CHEAP AUTO
LOANS FOR RETIRED AND YOUNG PEOPLE.

2. FINONOMIKS- LEASING OPTION GIVEN BY COMPANY IN
WHICH CAR WILL BE HANDED OVER BACK TO THE
COMPANY AFTER 7 YEARS. THIS PROVIDES BEST RESALE
VALUE TO THE CUSTOMER PLUS THE CAR IS FREELY
SERVICED BY THE COMPANY DURING THE PERIOD.

3. CORPORATE DISCOUNTS TO BULK BUYING THROUGH PSD,
POLICE CANTEEN, ETC
