Liquid Assets, a ninety-minute documentary, tells the story of essential infrastructure systems: water, wastewater, and stormwater. These systems some in the ground for more than 100 years provide a critical public health function and are essential for economic development and growth.
Largely out of sight and out of mind, these aging systems have not been maintained, and some estimates suggest this is the single largest public works endeavor in our nations history.
The free community outreach event includes an informational reception sponsored by local professional and community groups, the Liquid Assets documentary, and a brief presentation on the state of Virginias water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure.
In addition to our Branch and Section, we are grateful to the following organizations that are supporting this event:

The Virginia Geo-Institute Chapter and the Virginia Section of ASCE will be hosting ASCE National President Blaine Leonard at the Jefferson Hotel in Richmond on Thursday April 29, 2010.
The topic for the evening will be "The Future of Civil Engineering Civil Engineering in 2025". Civil engineering leaders, assembled by ASCE (and chaired by Mr. Leonard), have begun to develop a vision for the civil engineer of 2025 and what roles the civil engineer will play in addressing future challenges. Some revisions to current roles could be noticeable in the fields of education and continuing education, research and innovation, public policy and responsibility, and leadership.
