COMPACT
E
The characteristics of the compact controller digsy

compact
E can be found in chapter E of the
manual product description Drawing No.04-68255 in detailed form.
Some of the characteristics of the digsy Compact E are different than the Digsy Compact.
These differences are not relevant in normal use. Under certain circumstances, depending on the
application,it is possible to find incompatibility between programs which are originally written for the
digsy

compact
, (original) and do not run on the digsy

compact
E (new)
In the following description please find the hardware characteristics of the digsy

compact
(4885.27.100/.200/ .300) in comparison with the present compact controller digsy

compact
E
(4885.27.102/.202/:302) and their differences.
G.1 Power suppl y
! Former: PWR_FAIL is detected if the voltage on IPON is dropped below threshold voltage
! New: PWR_FAIL is detected if the voltage on VIM is dropped below threshold voltage
! Former: The threshold voltage was constant
! New: The threshold voltage can be adjusted referring to the selected board power (8V at a
12V system and 16V at a 24V system)
G.2 Digital Inputs
! Former: the impedance of all digital inputs (ID1.1 .. ID1.12, ID2.1 .. ID2.14) was 10k! on
the digsy

compact
Subunit CPU
! New : 4,7k
! Former: The transition due to software command between GND plus sensitivity is
organized on the digsy

compact
Subunit CPU in 5 Inputs per group (ID1.1 .. ID1.5, ID1.6 ..
ID1.10)
! New: in 4 Inputs per group
! Former: The input threshold voltage of all digital inputs ID1.9 .. ID1.12 on the digsy

compact
Subunit CPU was constant
! New: They are variable
G.3 Analog Inputs
! Former: The input impedance of the analog voltage inputs was 250k! at the digsy

compact
Subunit CPU and I/O
! New: 550k!

! Former The input impedance of the analog current input was 625! at the digsy

compact
Subunit CPU and I/O
! New: 325!
! Former: The displaying and resolution of the analog values was 10Bit at the digsy

compact
Subunit I/O
! New: display is 12Bit, resolution is 10Bit
G.4 Asynchrony Interface
! Former: The RS232 ports 1 and 2 for the digsy

compact
Subunit I/O were available only on
the digsy

compact
Subunit CPU 55 pin connector
! New: now the RS232 port is available on the digsy

compact
Subunit I/O 55 pin connector.
Remark: Not for application program purpose (only for firmware update).
! Former: This RS232 wires (TX and RX) were used for a dual purpose handshake
! New: The handshake wires are leaded separately. See chapter F: technical data pin
assignment
! Former: The RS232 signal ring indicator (SRI) and data carrier detect (DCD) for port 1
were separately leaded to the 55 pin connector
! New: not anymore, but they can be realized by using digital inputs
G.5 CAN-Bus
! Former: The digsy

compact
Subunit I/O supports only proprietary CAN protocols
! New: CAN
open
! Former: The compact controller digsy

compact
Subunit CPU did not provide the master
functionality
! New: the digsy

compact
Subunit CPU provides the master functionality
G.6 Real Time Clock (RTC)
! Former: The buffering voltage cap of the real time clock on the digsy

compact
Subunit CPU
was keeping the RTC running up to 5 days
! New: 5 minutes (the time can be buffered over a long period if a direct, fused wire is
connected between the main battery and Input VIM)
