Task D

Reflection
The aims of this lesson are by the end of the lesson, students should be able to enjoy
the action songs and be able to perform action trough verbal and non-verbal action. The
theme of the lesson plan is World of Knowledge and it is related with the aims created
for this lesson plan. Therefore, in this lesson the students will be exposed with names of
the animals. The important from the lesson is student is interest to the lesson.student is
having good experience in lesson
The lesson was designed to suit with year three students or nine years old in the
lesson, students will be engaged to learn new language; they will enjoy and develop
their target language vocabulary. As stated by Donaldson (1978, as cited in Cameron,
2001, p. 3-4), children thinking can be challenge and develop through appropriate
language, objects and tasks. In general, the lesson plan is rationale to be used for
teaching language to young learners with the involvement of various language
activities.

Lesson activities and rationale for using them
Labelling, reading and discussion activity
The first 10 minutes of the lesson will begin with a brainstorming activity between
the teacher and the students. This pre-reading activity involve around what their
previous knowledge about songs . By showing pictures or diagrams it will interact
student other than preparing the students with various sources of encountering new
words and provide them with clear image of the new words using auditory or visual aids
and their meaning, techniques such as making a strong memory connection between
the forms and meaning of the words also using them, can be useful in effective
vocabulary learning. Therefore, this activity will help the students to know the meaning
of the new words explained by the teacher. Supported by Nation (1990, p. 51, as cited
in Cameron, 2001, p. 85), photographs, drawings or diagrams, and pictures from the
books are the basic materials which can be used by the teachers to explain the
meanings of the new words, especially in the young learner classroom. Labelling and
reading the names of the animals activities is helping student to pronouns and be
confidence in speaking skills. The reading activities is one of the interaction activity that
can make student to focus and understanding more on the songs
All the activities described above are basically useful to introduced new words to
the young learners. In contrast, there are also several possible difficulties that could be
face by the learners in order to achieve the aims of the lesson. One of them is there
might be only few involvement in the labeling or reading session. This problem might
result from the passive engagement from the students because they did not have the
confidence to speak in target language (L2). Lack of vocabulary also limits them from
talking too much in the brainstorming session. In order to avoid such kind of problem,

the reading activities can be done in by teacher make sure student centre approach is
done, so that the teacher make sure all the student involved in the activities
Discussion and matching activities
In this 15 minutes session, the students will be given words cards (see
Appendix) by the teacher. Teacher divided them into smaller groups. Teacher paste the
chart contain the pictures of animals .Each group is giving worse cars contain sound of
the animals They have to discuss in their group. Each group has to match the sounds of
the animals with the correct animas pictures. .At the end of these grouping activities,
teacher will discuss the answers with the students. As mention earlier, discussion
session can develop students participation in a lesson and it also enable the students to
come out with answers and opinion that can develop their understanding upon the topic
discussed. Even though this activity is quite simple, yet, not all the students might be
able to do the task given. For example, the students might forget about some or all the
words that they have known from the introduction session. Students also might unable
to understand instructions such as Labeling during the grouping activity. Therefore, to
avoid this problems, the teacher can paste the pictures and the key words in front of
the class; such as on the white board, to enable the students to refer to pictures and
key words. Then students have to present their answers in front of the classroom.
The rationale for choosing this activity is the teacher can assess the students
understanding of the story In this session, students also could face some difficulties in
order to complete the task given. One of the obvious difficulties is students will be shy
come out displayed in front of the class.. This problem can be solved by teacher is
giving them motivate to come out in front of the class .ask the others students to give
claps and applause.
Perform the songs with gestures in a group
By giving the student the phase cards earlier, they will be able to sings the songs follow
the lyrics and identify the names of the animals given. This activities will make they
enjoy and interest to the lesson. They will feel enjoy to sing the song followed by the
gestures teach by the teacher. Student will learn to communicate and co-operate
among themselves. The phase cards activity will develop pupils intrinsic motivation and
develop all four skills that listening, speaking, reading and writing.
Recommendations for improvement
For the recommendation effectiveness of the lesson, my suggestion that we should put
more activities on the lesson. Teacher can provide games related to the lesson.
Teacher can make the lesson more interesting by asked the student to draw the
animals that they like in songs or make the student create their own lyrics for the songs.
I think we as a teacher should more alert to our student interest to make sure our
objectives is achieved.
