Experiment Name: Maintenance of Air jet loom.
Objects:
1. To know about different maintaining parts of this machine.
2. To know about different maintenance points of this machine.
3. To ensure the smooth running of this machine.
4. To learn about life time of different parts of this machine.
5. To produce good quality of product.
6. To get good performance from the machine.
7. To increase the efficiency of the machine.
Maintenance points:
1. Gear & gear box.
2. Motor & motor belt.
3. Different sensor.
4. Lubrication.
5. Cleaning different parts which are covered by fibre and dust.
6. Different nozzle.
7. Air supply & air pressure control unit.
8. Different optional mechanism such as leno device, tucked-in device
etc.
Types of maintenances:
1. Cleaning: During weaving there gathered so many fly of fibre on the m/c.
this fly will hampered the smooth running of the m/c. if those fly present in
the weaving zone the quality of the fabric will decrease. So cleaning is
performed on the whole m/c after a short time frequency.
2. Oiling: In air jet m/c there are so many gear boxes. Those gears are
impregnated in the oil bath. During rotation there will be produce heat. To
remove this heat and friction oil is used. It is special type of oil. If oil is not
used the gear will broken after a certain time. Oiling is done automatically in
this m/c.
3. Replacement: after smooth running there will be possibility of damage on
broken of m/c parts. In air jet m/c the nozzles and some other parts may be
damaged because of high speed rotation. Damaged nozzles will not provides
the uniform picking. So, replacement is performed after certain time.
4. Overhauling: after several days of production the over hauling is performed.
Over hauling is performed by a skilled maintenance personnel, maintenance
is done in every frictional points, every damaged parts will replaced by a
new parts. Overhauling helps the smooth running of the m/c.
5. Greasing: there are so many frictional point in the m/c. during high speed
rotation there is decay of rotating parts and heat may produce. To minimize
the decay and heat grease is used which minimize the heat and provides
smooth running of the parts.
Conclusion:
Every m/c has down time. After a certain cycle of production the maintenance
of m/c is must. The maintenance is performed during downtime. For this we
specially thank our honorable teacher who performed such a maintenance
operation by us. By this experiment we learned how maintenance on m/c is
done and this experience will be very helpful to improve our technical
knowledge.

Experiment Name: Maintenance on the modern single jersey & overhauling
of conventional circular knitting m/c.
Objects:
1. To ensure the smooth running of the m/c.
2. To clean the m/c parts.
3. To know about the maintenance work.
4. To replace the different deflective parts.
5. To increase the m/c efficiency.
Maintenance point:
1. Cleaning of cam box.
2. Oiling of cam box.
3. Opening of needle hook.
4. Cleaning of needle & sinker.
5. Cleaning of cylinders trick & sinker rings trick.
6. Oiling of cylinder & sinker ring.
Maintenance operation:
Mainly two operations are involved
1. Cleaning
2. Oiling
1. Cleaning:
Cleaning must be performed after certain rate of production. Because during
production various fly of yarn are gathered in the cam box & needle hook,
which will hamper the smooth running of the m/c, which will close the needle
hook. In this condition if m/c runs then there may produced faulty fabric & this
bad condition of the m/c lowers the efficiency of the m/c at a great extent. In
modern circular knitting m/c we set out of the entire cam box. Then we wash it
by oil and then dried with the aid of fabric. Then we clean the trick of cylinder
and sinker ring by the use of air gun which is attached with the m/c.
Even we over hauling a conventional circular knitting m/c in our shed. We over
haul it, setout of its different parts and clean all of that parts not only that we
pointed whole of the m/c, then we assembling the all parts of the m/c. now it is
ready for production.
2. Oiling:
The m/c has many frictional parts in it. The friction may occur in between parts
to parts. This friction will causes damage of different parts, which will
hampered the production operation. To reduce this friction oiling in different
points are performed. In modern single jersey circular knitting m/c there is
automatic lubricating unit. By pushing a button will reached to different parts
automatically. For opening of the hook of needle we brush it with oil.
In conventional m/c after assembling we lubricated the different frictional parts
ie gear, sinker trick, cylinder trick, cam track manually. We open the hook of
the needle on to ensure the easy opening of hook we brush it will oil, which
reduce the jam in the latch. After lubrication of the m/c we start production.
Conclusion:
Every m/c has down time. After a certain cycle of production the maintenance
of m/c is must. The maintenance is performed during downtime. For this we
specially thanks our honorable teacher who performed such a maintenance
operation by us. By this experiment we learned how maintenance on m/c is
done and this experience will be very helpful to improve our technical
knowledge.

Experiment Name: Maintenance on the v-bed knitting machine.
Objects:
1. To ensure the smooth running of the m/c.
2. To clean the machine parts.
3. To know about the maintenance work.
4. To replace the different defective parts.
5. To increase the m/c efficiency.
Maintenance point:
1. Cleaning of cam box
2. Oiling of cam box
3. Cleaning of needle bed
4. Opening of hook
5. Cleaning & oiling of yarn carrier
Maintenance operation:
Mainly two operations are involved:
1. Cleaning
2. Oiling
1. Cleaning:
We release the cam box from the m/c and cleaned it by brush. During
production there may gather fibre fly which is from yarn ultimately hampered
the smooth running of needle butt in to the cam truck. So cleaning of cam truck
must be as well as to ensure the smooth running of needle butt. Then we
cleaning the needle bed and needle hook by brush. We also clean the whole m/c
and weed out the rush in the m/c. we also opens the needle hook by brush.
2. Oiling:
The m/c has many frictional parts in it. The friction may occur in between parts
to parts or yarn to parts. This friction will cause damage of different parts of the
m/c, which will hamper the production operation. To reduce this friction at a
great extent oiling in different points are performed. After cleaning we
lubricated all of the mentioned points. Then we start the production.
Conclusion:
To obtain a fault free product maintenance of m/c is must. The maintenance is
performed after certain production cycle. We specially thanks our honorable
teacher for performing such a maintenance work on v-bed knitting m/c by us
which is very important.
