andtheycantevengetontheshow.ThatspartlywhyitsrefreshingtogetanannualWWE2K
video game release, it reflects the changes in the WWE programming. The stars who were
considered the best rated talent a year ago are in some instances the weakest wrestlers on the
show today. There are guys who won all the time in the runup to WWE 2K14s release, who
nowadays lose every week in under three minutes. WWE 2K15 is going to have to reflect these
changes,soexpecttheingameratingssystemtolookverydifferentcometheOctoberrelease.
2K14rankeditswrestlersoutofahundred.Thetopleveltalent,thetelevisionmaineventers,were
mainly attributed to be a 90 plus. Some of those same names will struggle for the mid 80s this
time around! Some of 2K14s most difficultwrestlers to beat are going to need a serious
downgradingsoletsgetstraighttoit!
15.TheRock
WWE 2K14 Rating: 95 WWE 2K15 Expected Rating: 90 We startoff with a big rating to get the
featureunderway,WWE2K14coverstarTheRockwithagameratingof95.Didhedeserveit?He
hadmaineventedWrestleManiain2013buthadntwrestledatallinthesixmonthsbefore2K14s
release. He hasnt competed at all in over fifteen months now. A downgrading is going to be
essentialbasedonthislackofactivity,surehesalegend,butheshouldntberankingabovethe
likesofSteveAustin(94in2K14).Intruth,theonlyreasonTheRockwasranked95in2K14was
becausehewasthecoverstar.Hisrankingmadehimthejointhighestrankedplayeronthegame
(alongsideJohnCena).Thatwasclearlynotreflectiveofreality,itwasaperkofbeingthegames
franchisestar.Thisyear2KcanappointTheRockamorerealisticrating,whichwouldbearound
the90mark.
14.Christian
WWE 2K14 Rating: 86 WWE 2K15 Expected Rating: 82 Christian has had a miserable last 12
months,mainlyduetoinjuryissuesandlackofcreativepush.Heslightlygothiscareergoingagain
at the start of 2014, but a March concussion has since sidelinedthe Attitude Era star. In all
likelihoodhesnearretirementandhisbestdaysarefirmlybehindhim.2K14hadrankedChristian
as an upper mid carder, but even last year he was struggling for a firmly relevant role on WWE
television.Thisyearheisabsolutelyonthefringesofthecompanyand2K15willreflectthiswith
a relegated ranking. A lowly 82 rating seems fair. His role in the new game should be that of an
easierAI,anopponentthatnewplayerscantuneupagainst.
13.DamienSandow
WWE2K14Rating:87WWE2K15ExpectedRating:80Whatadifferenceayearcanmake.Twelve
monthsagowehadDamienSandowridinghighasMrMoneyInTheBank.Fastforwardtopresent
dayandhisweeklyworkinvolvescomingtotheringinfancydressandlosingin3minutesquashes.
Heisliterallygettingzeroattackinthesedays,insteadbeingnothingmorethanamannequinto
absorbotherwrestlersblows.WWE2K15willhavetoreflectthiswitharatingdowngrade.Sandow
enjoyedtheloftyratingof87inWWE2K14,hewasamoderatechallengetobeat,hismoveset
hadimpact.Forthenewreleasethatwillhavetobediminished.Aratingof80seemsmoreinline
withhistelevisionstatus.HiscomputerAIshouldbereducedandheshouldbeoneoftheeasiest
characterstobeatonthegame.ThatsjustthewaythingshavegoneforDamienSandowthisyear.

2K14?Thatmeanthewasoneofthebettercharactersonthegame,eventhoughhewasrarelyif
ever on WWE television. His main reason for having a job in WWE is merely to lose to more
importantsuperstars.2K15needtoreflectthiswithamajorratingchange.Insteadofbeingatthe
topendofthe80s,Truthshouldbeatthelowendofthe80s.Hesasmallerguywithlowpower
moves,fodderforgamerswhoareworkingtheirwayintothegame.
11.DolphZiggler
WWE2K14Rating:89WWE2K15ExpectedRating:83Witharatingof89forWWE2K14,Dolph
Zigglerwasconsideredamaineventerby2Ksdevelopers.HischaracterAIandmoveimpactwere
strong,hewasoneofthemorechallengingopponentsonthegame.Youcanunderstandwhy2K
programmedZigglerinthisway.Intheirdevelopmentalphaseoverthespringoflastyear,Ziggler
was legitimately a headline star. He was taking part in main events against Alberto Del Rio and
challengingfortheWorldTitle.Unfortunately,duetooutspokencriticisminthemediaaboutthe
wayhewasbooked,ZigglerendedupbeingputintheWWEdoghouse.Hehasspentmuchofthe
last12monthseithernotappearingoncardsorsimplybeingusedasathreeminutejobber.Hes
probablythe biggest loser on WWE television from the past year. In reflecting this, 2K15 will
dropDolphs rating to around the low eighties. He will become one of the very basic wrestling
characters. In all likelihood this could be Zigglers final game appearance; his contract expires at
theendof2014andwithhiscurrentsituationhemustbeconsideringhisoptions.
10.TheMiz
WWE2K14Rating:89WWE2K15ExpectedRating:85Thelastyearhasbeenabitstop/startfor
The Miz on WWE television. Luckily for him, hes getting a bit of television presence back as
Intercontinentalchampionrightnow.ThatshouldhelphimretainsomeofhisWWE2K14statusas
oneofthesuperiortalents.However,Mizaninreallydoesneedsomesortofdowngradingforthe
newgame.Hispreviousratingof89meanthewasjustonepointremovedfromthesamestatus
asBatista.Howdoesthataddup?Batistaisagiantofamanwithapowerfulattack.Mizincontrast
isasmallerandlessaggressiveworker.Asformaineventstature,WWETVgaveuponMizinthose
spotslongago.Quitewhy2K14gavehimamaineventratingthatwasjusttwopointslowerthan
BrockLesnarisamystery.Adowngradingisnecessaryfor2K14.Aratingof85ismoreinlinewith
themidcardspotMizwillfeatureonfortherestoftheyear.
9.MarkHenry
WWE2K14Rating:89WWE2K15ExpectedRating:84MarkHenryisanotherstarwho2Kassigned
withan89rating.YoucanpartlyunderstandwhyHenrygotsuchahighratinglastyear;asanupper
midcarderhewaschallengingJohnCenafortheWWEtitlearoundthetimeof2K14sproduction.
Hesalsohelpedbythefacthesabigguy.Sizemattersandlargeguysarehardertobeat,sogiants
usuallydogetabigratinginvideogames.ForWWE2K15though,thedevelopersaregoingtohave
todowngradeHenrysstatus.Hesstillabigman,sotheywontdowngradeittoomuch,buthis
inactivitythispastsixmonthsmeanshecantberankedalongsideWWEsfinest.Amoderate85
seems a realistic valuation. Hell still be a challenging opponent on 2K14 because of his weight
advantage, but no way should he be the level of toughness from last year. Age and injury have
seriouslymarginalisedthe43yearoldseffectiveness.
8.TheBigShow
WWE 2K14 Rating: 90 WWE 2K15 Expected Rating: 87 Big Show isnt going to be downgraded
massively,hesagiant,fromavideogamingperspectivethatdemandshebeachallengeforthe
player.However,ShowdoesneedtobedroppeddownacoupleofpegsforWWE2K15.Hisrating
in the last game made him one of the very elite wrestlers. That simply isntthe reality on WWE
television.HewasdestroyedatthehandsofBrockLesnaratJanuarysRoyalRumbleandlostinthe
AndreBattleRoyalatWrestleMania30.OtherthanthattheGianthasbeenoutofthespotlight
althoughheisduetoreturntotelevisionimminently.AlowerratingwillreflectthatBigShowisno
longeramaineventplayer.Hesareliableuppermidcardact,whoattheageof42iswindinghis
careerdown.
7.ReyMysterio
WWE2K14Rating:90WWE2K15ExpectedRating:83ReyMysteriohasbeenineffectiveinWWE
forafewyearsnow.HebarelyfeaturesonWWEtelevisionandwhenhedoeshesashadowofhis
former self. The sad reality is that two decades of wrestling a dangerous style have ruined
Mysteriosbody.Hehasseriouskneeinjuriesandphysicallyhasntbeenabletocompeteforsome
time. Hes still on the current WWE roster, but in all likelihood, he probably wont be seen in a
WWEringagain.Thegamein2013hadReyrankedasamighty90.Thatwasmorereflectiveofhis
maineventstaturefromoverhalfadecadeago.Withbarelyanyactioninthepastyear,therating
needs lowering. It might even be the case that WWE use the game to take a shot at Mysterio,
turning him into the video game equivalent of a jobber. Thats because backstage in WWE, the
management arent happy with how much ring time Mysterio has missed. The dispute has
furtheredafterReyscontractwasextendedbeyondhiswill,duetoalltheringtimeheowedthe
company.Alowerratingin2K15couldbeatypicalWWEwaytotakeashotatthestar.
6.Ryback

thepanwrestler.Hegotoverhugeinthelatterhalfof2012,helpedgreatlybyanundefeatedstreak
andfeudwithCMPunk.ChantsofFEEDMEMOREfilledarenasandRybackwasmaineventing
consecutivepayperviews.IfithadntbeenforCMPunkslongplannedWWEtitlematchwithThe
Rock,thenWWEwouldalmostcertainlyhavemadeRybackchampioninthatperiod.Instead,Punk
prevailedinthefeud,whichsentRybacksmomentumcrashingtoahalt.The2Kdevelopersput
2K14togetherwithRybackinmindastheguywhonearlydethronedPunk,butoverthecourseof
2013itbecameincreasinglyobviousthatthewrestlerwasfarfromamaineventproduct.Hesnow
anonpersonaintheRybaxeltagteam.Withthistumblingfallintelevisionstatus,expectaserious
demotionin2K15too.ThemakersthoughtRybackwasabigstarayearago,theynowknowhes
not.Theludicrousratingof90in2K14willbereplacedwithastillgenerousvalueofaround83in
2K15.

asthemoderndaypersonaortheretroKane.Inbothinstanceshisratingwas91.Letsputthat
intocontexthere:BrockLesnarisalsorated91.MultitimeWorldChampionEdgeisrated91.Is
thecurrentKanereallyonaparwithLesnar?IstheretroKanereallyequaltoEdgescareer?You
havetosaythat2Koverratedthebigredmachine.Hesareliableandsolidtalent,butheshouldnt
berankedalongsidethesamechallengeofaBrockLesnar.ItwasntevenasifKanewasamajor
starwhen2Kweremakinglastyearsgame.HewasthenthecomedicpartnerofDanielBryanin
themidcardsTeamHellNo.Sincethenhiscareerdeclinedintoaperiodofinactivitybeforeaslight

WWE 2K14 Rating:92 WWE 2K15 Expected Rating:89 With a rating of 92, Randy Orton was
consideredoneoftheveryelitewrestlersonWWE2K14.OnlyJohnCenawasratedhigheroutof
the full time wrestlers. Is 2Ks high rating a fair reflection of Ortons talent? He was a WWE
ChampionasofSummerSlam2013andremainedatthetopofWWEscardsallthewayupuntil
WrestleMania 30. The thing is, Orton just isnt very exciting. His action is based on being a heel
rather than being the best. You certainly wouldnt say he was a tougher opponent than Brock
Lesnar.NeitherwouldyousayhesabetterwrestlerthanaCesaro(rated88lastyear).Takingthese
factorsintoaccount,2KshouldconsiderademotionforOrtonin2K15.The92ratingmakeshim
oneoftheverybestin2K14,regardlessofera.Itjustdoesntringtrue.Hesgoodbutheshouldnt
begettingputinthesamebracketsasthelikesofAustin,HartofFlair.ForWWE2K15aratingof
89,justbelowthemagical90level,seemsfarfairer.

defeat.Isheworthyoftheloftyrating?Hebarelywrestledin2013,saveforawinoverBrockLesnar
atWrestleMania29andalossthenextmonthtoLesnaratExtremeRules.Didthatreallywarrant
himbeingratedtwopointsaboveLesnarandjusttwopointsbelowfranchisestarJohnCena?Of
course not. Hunter got a high rating in 2K14 for muchthe samereason he getsthe spotlight on
television because he wields backstage power. Hes been slightly more active in 2014 and had
firstratematcheswithDanielBryanandTheShield.Still,thatdoesntjustifyHunterbeingranked
headandshouldersaboveeverybodyelse.Aratingof90in2K15wouldbetterreflectthefactthat
hesoneofWWEsolderparttimestars.Thehigh90sshouldbegoingtothelikesofReigns,Wyatt,
RollinsandtheyoungheadlinerswhoreallyarelightingWWEsproductup.

controversial,butTheUndertakerin2014isnotthesameDeadmanofyesteryear.If2K15islooking
tostaytruetotheWWEtelevisionproduct,thenitmustdowngradeTheUndertakeraccordingly.
HeinfamouslylosttoBrockLesnarthisyearatWrestleMania30.ItwasaterriblematchandTaker
legitimatelylookedweak.Hesclearlyadecliningforce.2K15canmirrorreallifebydowngrading
Undertakerfroma93ratingtoa90.Thatsrealisticbecausehesalwaysgoingtobea90region
player,hesalwaysgoingtobebookedasoneofthetoughestforces.Thechangemerelyreflects
thathesattheimminentretirementstageofhiscareer.

Aratingof94in2K14madeHoganoneofthetoughestcharacterstoface,inadditiontomaking
himoneoftheeasiestcharacterstowinas.Intheentiregame,onlyTheRock,ShawnMichaelsand
