Octagon Wet Film Thickness Gauge
All Purpose Range From 0.4 to 400 Mils
Meets and exceeds ASTM D 4414 Complies with ANSI/NCSL Z540-1, MIL-STD-45662A and
ISO 9000 when ordered with calibration certificate.
Uses of the gage range from measuring wet film thickness of fiberglass lay-ups to food glazes and wet
coatings that are sprayed, dipped or brushed onto a smooth surface. Can be custom made by screen or
digital printing with your logo or photograph in up to FIVE colors.

Instructions
1. Select scale range ( 25-158 Mil Fiberglass Scale range)
2. Place gauge on wet film at 90 angle.
3. Press into film
4. Withdraw and note deepest tooth or notch having paint on it and next higher tooth that is not coated.
5. The wet film thickness lies between these two readings.
6. Clean gauge with any suitable solvent immediately after use. Wipe dry. Do not leave gauge
immersed in solvent.

For Clear Coatings
To see clear liquids on the teeth, sprinkle them with talc and blow off. Talc will stick to the wet teeth.
Example:
The drawing indicates that tooth marked 250 mils is
covered with the wet paint and tooth marked 300 mils is not
covered. This indicates that the true wet film thickness of
the material is between 250 and 300 mils thick.
