planet comes up in human
consciousness or conversation,
particularly referring to the
environment and climate change, it
can be difcult to cope.
The choices are:
A. Go numb
B. Go into despair
C. Go into denial
D. Go to work as one person
E. All of the above
What has been the best choice so
far? Answer: E. All of the above.
According to icon Joanna Macy, we
must bear witness to what we
have created so that we can move
though the despair to creative
action.
Now there is another choice.

producer of the Gasland
documentary said something
profound at the Midwest
Renewable Energy Fair in Custer
Wisconsin in 2013:
Look around you; look at all the
people here all working toward
change, sustainability and saving the
environment. There are incredible
people doing incredible things all over
this planet for the environment and in
service to humanity and the future. All
these groups doing amazing work but
theyre not connected to each other.
We havent found a way to get them
to work together! And together, they,
not climate change and
environmental destruction, would be
the unstoppable force.
We havent found a way until
now. Now we have a movement, a
way to create organized
compassion and heart-centered
stewardship through the Charter
for Compassion International.
The Charter is a grassroots
movement that fosters
compassion in various segments of
societywith almost 250
Compassionate Cities and nearly
900 partners and Compassionate
sectors in: Business, Education,
Healthcare, Peace, Religion/
Spirituality Science and the Arts,
and of course, the Environment
Sector.
The mission of the Environment
Sector is to provide a worldwide
online-framework and virtual
gathering place to bring concerns,
ideas and initiatives and help grow
a network of networks--a
movement-- while organizing to
save our planet and secure the
future.
