Job Capsule:

Under general supervision, operates, monitors and troubleshoots computer system for the purpose of providing on-
location geological data collection and reporting to the customer. Works independently and provides work direction to
Logging Geologists and trainees. Responsible for full and timely communication with client and required third parties
concerning information regarding drilling parameters, gas, geology and formation pore pressure evaluation. Gathers
accurate factual logging information (Depth, Gas Units and Composition, Rate of Penetration, Lag Time, Engineering Data
and Calculations, Pressure Detection Data). Interprets logging information to determine occurrence and composition of
any oil and/or gas shows which occur while drilling. Analyses and documents according to Surface Data Logging
Systems (SDL) Zone of Interest and/or Show Reports. Provides lithologic descriptions of all formations drilled and
identifies formation name, group, or member. Assembles mud logging information into mud logs and Drilling Database
following established SDL and/or Customer guidelines and procedures. Communicates mud logging information to
customer as necessary to fulfill their requirements. (Morning Report, Show Notification, Engineering Problems, Delivery
of Mud Logs). Performs any other specialized tests or gathers any additional data as required by the customer. Gathers,
assembles, and assures timely delivery of sets of cutting samples as per customer requirements. Maintains documented
transmittal sheets. Performs safe, neat, professional rig-up. Rig-down neatly with concern for the efficiency of the next
rig-up. Follows established rig-down procedure, and inventories needed parts. Performs any specialized monitoring
services as required by customer and/or supervisor. Properly briefs relief personnel of activities while relief was absent.
Ensures personnel change outs are smooth, unambiguous transitions, which in no way jeopardizes the performance
quality of the unit and crew. Performs in such a way as to obtain repeat business. Skills typically acquired through
completion of an undergraduate degree in Engineering, Geology or related discipline and a minimum of 1-1/4 years
experience as a Logging Geologist-SDL, Sr or SDL relevant experience. Must have successfully passed company tests
or met task guideline requirements. Must have met the minimum competency requirements for the Logging Geologist-
SDL, Sr. Ability to demonstrate technical aptitude to standards required. Must possess good communication skills,
arithmetic, data entry, and recording skills. Has proven ability to demonstrate responsibility and perform quality work with
a low degree of direct supervision. Accuracy of work is critical to the effectiveness of customer decisions, which are
based on gathered and assembled data. Failure to deliver requisite accurate data can lead to bad customer relations
varying in degree from slight dissatisfaction to losses of future sales. Must possess relevant offshore certificates as
required. This is a field position. Promotes safety awareness and environmental consciousness, and complies with all
applicable safety and environmental procedures and regulations. Ensures compliance with Health, Safety, and
Environmental (HSE) regulations and guidelines. Promotes and takes an active part in quality improvement processes.

Job Roles:

Equipment
Performs preventive and corrective maintenance on all assigned company equipment to assure first-class
operating condition.
Performs maintenance and repair work as directed on idle and unmanned equipment.
Follows prescribed policies in the operation of any company vehicle used, and leaves said vehicle in
suitable condition for use on next job.
Logs in/or vehicle following prescribed Company policies.
Safety
Complies with established company safety policies.
Complies with operator safety requirements (equipment and performance) while on the rig.
Attends inter-company safety meetings.
Complies with all requirements issued by regulatory agencies, secures proper training, and remains in
certification (Haz-Mat, Haz-Wopper, Confined Entry, etc.)
Customer Relations
Establishes a good field level working relationship with every customer associated with.
Projects a professional and can-do attitude image through work done on location.
Fulfils any specialized customer requirements in an agreeable professional manner.
Handles customer complaints in an agreeable and timely manner.
Projects a team member image to the customer.
Promotes sales of other Company Products and Services at the well site.
Development
Capitalizes on every appropriate training opportunity offered by the supervisor.
Keeps informed of new equipment and/or technology within the industry.
Completes training and assessments as per the company Progression and Competency schemes.
Reporting
Ensures punctual submission of professional looking and accurate daily reports, daily logs, show reports,
and other documents, as per customer directions/requirements.
Submits accurate and timely expense reports and time sheets.

Ensures field vouchers are signed on the last working day of the billing period established by the Unit
Manager or Customer. Completed field vouchers must be submitted to the district office within 3 working
days of the expiration of the billing period.
Follows up jobs by obtaining EJ CS from customers.
Other
Communicates clearly and as often as necessary, ensuring maximum co-operation with other employees
and personnel (e.g. contractor personnel or operator personnel).
Works onshore as needed / directed.
