INDICATIONS
Distention and fullness of the chest and lateral costal
region, cough, coughing with copious phlegm or
pus, shortness of breath, difficult ingestion, desires to
drink fluids.
COMBINATIONS
Difficult ingestion with desire to drink fluids:
Zhourong SP-20 and Dachangshu BL-25 (Thousand
Ducat Formulas).
Difficult ingestion: Zhourong SP-20, Zhongfu LU-1,
Kunlun BL-60, Chengman ST-20 and Yuji LU-10
(Supplementing Life).

Encircling Glory
LOCATION
On the lateral side of the chest, in the second
intercostal space, 6 cun lateral to the midline.
LOCATION NOTE
i. First locate the costal cartilage of the second rib which is
level with the sternal angle, then locate the second inter-
costal space below it; ii. The six cun line is located two cun
lateral to the mamillary line; iii. This point lies one inter-
costal space directly below Zhongfu LU-1.
NEEDLING
Transverse-oblique insertion along the intercostal space,
0.5 to 1 cun.
Caution: perpendicular insertion, especially in thin
patients, carries a substantial risk of inducing a
pneumothorax.
ACTIONS
Regulates and descends qi and unbinds the chest
