sensors (initiating devices) wired in
parallel.
A conventional fire alarm system is often
the natural choice for smaller applica-
tions or where budget constraints exist.

The FM-200 zero Ozone Depleting Potential (ODP) fire suppressant supplied and installed by
PRASA is now well established as the single most effective Halon 1301 replacement. It is ap-
proved and verified around the world by such organizations as Britains Loss Prevention Coun-
cil, Lloyds Register, and the US Environmental Protection Agency.
Fire can be extinguished rapidly, typically knocking out class A, B and C fires in less than 10
seconds. This minimizes atmospheric
toxicity and the generation of smoke
and soot. Physical and chemical ac-
tions combine in FM-200 to form an
irresistible fire fighting force. FM-
200s physical properties lower the
flame temperature, while the chemi-
cal action suppresses flame propaga-
tion.
In fact, FM-200 is the appropriate
choice in applications where liquid
extinguishants, water-based or dry
chemical products can cause costly
damage or result in considerable and expensive downtime. Because of its zero conductivity,
this includes electrical, communications and data processing equipment and plant or machin-
ery.

VESDA
VERY EARLY SMOKE DETECTION APPARATUS:
VESDA works by continuously drawing air into the pipe network via a high
efficiency aspirator. A sample of this air is then passed through a dual stage
filter. The first stage removes dust and dirt from the air sample before it
allows the sample to enter the laser detection chamber for smoke detection.
The second (ultra fine) stage provides an additional clean air supply to keep
the detectors optical surfaces free from contamination, ensuring stable
calibration and long detector life.
VESDA detectors can be located centrally to provide easy maintenance
from outside busy lecture halls or secure areas.
Multiple alarm levels reduce nuisance alarms and their associated costs.
The optics of a VESDA detector are protected from contamination for an
increased detector life.
High sensitivity enables reliable detection of diluted smoke in large,
open spaces or the high airflow of a data center or laboratories.
VESDA detectors constantly monitor airflow to ensure reliable sam-
plingit cant be fooled by contamination, blockage or tampering.
Sampling holes can be hidden virtually anywhere for improved
aesthetics.
