General The following specifications will apply under all circumstances to the equipment to be installed against this Agreement and it is to be ensured that the Developer, shall obtain for himself at his own expense and on his own responsibility all the information which may be necessary for purpose of making the tender and for entering into a Agreement keeping in view the specifications detained hereunder, drawing, and designing of the electrical installation and inspection of Site. The rates shall include for the cost of material erection, commissioning, labor, supervision, tools, plant, transport, all taxes, contingencies, breakage, wastage, sundries, scaffolding, maintenance of wiring for one year etc. i.e. they should be for an item complete in all respect. orkmanship and good appearance of the installation shall be of equal importance with its electrical and mechanical efficiency, and all portions of the work shall be so laid out and installed that the ork as a whole is of uniform quality and shall present a neat and mechanical appearance in a manner meeting the approval of the !ro"ect #ngineer. The Developer shall verify in the field all measurements necessary for the electrical ork and shall assume responsibility for their accuracy. $aterials which are defective or damaged during the progress of ork shall be replaced or repaired in an approved manner at the expense of the Developer. The installation shall comply with all applicable laws and ordinances and with the requirements of the %.S. or &ndian 'odes and as specified herein or shown in the Drawings. The progress of the electrical work shall be carried out so as to conform the progress of the ork of the other trade and the entire installation shall be completed as soon as the condition of the building with permit. All cutting, drilling, channelling, patching, etc., required for installation of electrical shall be carried out in a manner approved by the !ro"ect #ngineer. Any deferring of finish, planning, woodwork, metal work, masonry, concrete or other material, resulting from the performance of the ork shall be replaced or repaired at no expense to the owner and to the satisfaction of the !ro"ect #ngineer. Site Condition The equipment materials to be erected and commissioned should be suitable for the Site conditions. &t is estimated that the maximum temperature at Site will be ()o '. The breaker shall have quick break trip free mechanism with thermal over load and magnetic short circuit tripping devices. The mechanism shall be such that the circuit can not be held closed against a fault. The thermal items shall prevent reclosing of a circuit when a fault or over load persist. 4). The lengths of cables given in the schedule of quantities are only approximate. The successful Developer is required to measure out the actual lengths needed before laying. Such sub6 circuits shall not have more than a total of < points of lights, fans and sockets outlets. The load of such circuits shall be restricted to <)) watts. The number of socket outlets shall not be more than two per circuit. As regards power sub6circuits, the outlet shall be provided according to the load design for these circuits, but in no case shall these be more than two outlets on each circuit. Rate1 The rates for wiring light, fan and all plug points given in the schedule of ork attached with the tender, shall be irrespective of the length of points. 'ircuit wires of these points shall also from part of the point rate. The conductor for final sub6 circuit for points shall have a nominal cross section area not less than 2.3 sq. mm. 1'opper conductor for light and fan circuit and ( sq. mm for power sub6circuit in case of general light and power wiring. 1a* The Developer shall prepare fabrication and detailed working drawings and obtain the approval. All ork shall be carried out only on approval of these drawings. :owever, approval of the drawings does not relieve the Developer of his responsibility to meet with the intent of the specification. The Developer shall also submit complete layout drawings on completion of the work. The rate quoted by the Developer shall be inclusive of this ork. These drawings must give the following information. ;uns of !=' conduits and number of wires contained in circuits and siDe of wires for point wiring. 1b* ,ocation of all distribution boards, main switches, "unction and pull boxes and fusesJ 'omplete schematic diagram of the installationJ S!#'&-&'AT&.> 1#,#'T;&'A,* 8 1c* ,ocation of earthing stations. The virtual completion certificate will not be issued till the drawings are submitted. !osition of ,ighting, Distribution %oards and Switch Fears 1d* Should there by any discrepancy or incomplete description ambiguity or omission in the drawings and other documents, whether original or supplementary forming the Agreement, the Developer shall immediately on discovering the same, draw attention of the !ro"ect #ngineer. 1e* %efore commencement of ork, the exact final position of all points switch boxes and the distribution boards shall be ascertained by the Developer from the !ro"ect #ngineer. Sa)plin01 The Developer shall submit 2 sets of samples of accessories and apparatus, he propose to use in the installation, to the !ro"ect #ngineer for approval. Drawings or samples, as required shall be submitted by the Developer and this specification shall not be departed from without any written instructions from the !ro"ect #ngineer. The verbal approval given by the !ro"ect #ngineer to any drawings or samples submitted by the Developer shall in noway exonerate the Developers from their liability to carry out the ork in accordance with the terms of the Agreement. Eart2in0 #arth &nstallation0 The entire electrical network shall be solidly and effectively earthen vigorously following the methods as per &.S. 9)(9 6 4755. The Site for earth stations shall be selected as close to the sub6station or switch room as possible. The Site so selected shall have to be moist with a tendency to remain water6 logged even during the driest season of the year. Such places can be located near the drain outlet from the main building. The earth pit shall be one meter square and 2 m deep 4 m x 4 m x 5 mm electrolytically pure copper plate shall be used as earth electrode which shall be laid vertically from the base of the pit. The earth lead from the electrode shall be 123E9* mm in copper strip or 5.>o S..F. copper conductor as specifies which has to be braDed with the electrode to sustain flow of heavy current without effecting the braDing during heavy fault conditions. &n order to improve the conductivity of the soil, common salt and charcoal shall be used to required quantity to cover the electrode before refilling the pit. Tetin0 of Intallation In%lation Reitance S!#'&-&'AT&.> 1#,#'T;&'A,* 9 i* The insulation resistance shall be measured by applying between earth and the whole system of conductors or Any section thereof with all fuses in places an all switches closed, and except in earthen concentric wiring and all lamps in position or both poles of the installation otherwise electrically connected together, a direct current pressure of less than twice the working pressure provided that it need not exceed 3)) volts for medium voltage circuits. here the supply is derived from the 9 wire 1A.'. or D.'.* or a poly phase system, the neutral pole of which is connected to earth either direct or through added resistance, the working pressure shall be deemed to be that which is main trained between the outer or phase conductor and the neutral. ii* The insulation resistance measured as above shall be not less than 3) divided by the number of points on the circuit provided that the whole installation shall not be required to have an insulation resistance greater than one megaohm. iii* 'ontrol rheostats, heating and power appliances and electric signs may, if required, be disconnected from the circuit during the test, but in that event the insulation resistance between the code or frame work, and all live parts of each rheostat, appliances and sign, shall be not less than that specified in the relevant &ndian Standard Specification or where there is no such specification shall be not less than half a megohm. iv* The insulation resistance shall also be measured between all conductors connected to one pole or phase conductor of the supply and all the conductors connected to the middle wire or the neutral or to the other pole or phase conductors of the supply and its valve shall be not less than that specified in sub6 clause 1ii*. v* .n completion of an electric installation 1or an extension to an installation* a certificate shall be furnished by the Developer counter signed by the certified supervisor under whose direct supervision, the installation was carried out. This certificate shall be in the prescribed from as required by the local #lectric Supply Authorities. 1b* Testing of #arth 'ontinuity !ath The earth continuity conductor including metal conduits and metallic envelopes of cables in all cases shall be tested for electric continuity and the electrical resistance of the same along with the earthling lead but excluding any added resistance or earth leakage circuit breaker measured from the connection with the earth electrode to any point in the earth continuity conductor in the completed installation shall not exceed one ohm. 1c* Testing of !olarity of >on6linked Single !ole Switches i* &n a 2 wire installation of test shall be made to verify that all non6linked single pole switches have been fitted in the same conductor throughout and such conductor shall be labelled or marked for connected to an outer or phase conductor or to the non6earthen conductor of the supply. ii* &n a three wire or a four wire installation, a test shall be made to verify that every non6linked single pole switches fitted in a conductor which is labelled or marked for connection to one of the outer or phase conductor or the supply. The Developer shall be responsible for providing the necessary instruments and subsidiary earth for carrying out the test. The earth continuity tests shall comply with the &S specifications as may be applicable. Should the above tests not comply with the limits laid down, the Developer shall rectify the faults until the required results are obtained. Li02tnin0 Protection S&te) S!#'&-&'AT&.> 1#,#'T;&'A,* 10 The Developer shall be responsible for the supply and installation of the complete lighting protection system, which may be carried out by a specialists sub6 Developer approved or specified by the !ro"ect #ngineer. The installation shall consist of air networks connected to water tower top and down conductors, and finally, terminated to earth electrodes, via. suitable test points, all in accordance with the details as indicated on the drawings. 'onductors shall consist of 23x9 mm. soft annealed copper strips. All exposed metal work and roof structures, forming part of the structure to be protected shall be bonded to the net work by conductors of the appropriate cross section. 'o$n Cond%ctor1 -rom the air terminations 23x9 mm. down conductors shall be installed and fixed to the structure as indicated on the drawings. The conductors shall follow the most direct route to the earth rod or earth network. Test clamp/sconnecting down conductors to the earth system shall be fixed to the water tower structure at between (3) mm and 2 $ .above ground level. Ioints in down conductors shall not be permitted and provision shall be made for expansion and contraction of conductors. Special care being taken in the fixing of support to allow for movement. Eart2in0 Arran0e)ent #arth tables of 23x9 mm minimum siDe shall be connected to the down tapes at the test clamps and routed to the earth rods as indicated on the drawings. The tapes shall be hurried at not less than ).3 meters below ground. The arrangements shall conform with earthing section of this specifications. Tet Cla)p1 Test clamps shall be manufactured from phosphor bronDe, admiralty brass or approved equivalent with two fixing holes suitably counter sunk to receive >o. < screws. 'opper bonding tapes shall be tinned prior to bolting to test clamps and connected surfaces of all tapes shall be treated with an approved petroleum "elly or grease. Tape conductors shall be fixed to flat roof surfaces by means of suitable felt pads, fused to the bitumen felt covering or asphalt, alternative fixing arrangements may be used sub"ect to the approval of the !ro"ect #ngineer. here tape conductor are fixed to walls or structural work they shall be fixed by means of distance type saddles or hold fasts, as detailed. Ioints and %ends 0 Ioints will not normally be permitted, but where specified or approved, they shall conform to &S0 All bonds shall conform to earthing sections of this specifications. &n case of F.&. strips "oints shall be welded and protected from corrosion. Testing0 All systems shall be tested in accordance with &.S. code of !ractice for lighting protection, as well as &.S. 'ode of !ractice for earthling. The resistance from any point of the system to earth shall not exceed to ohms. The resistance of each metallic conducting path, including all "oints shall not exceed the calculated resistance of the tape itself by more than six percent. &n addition, the resistance from the earth electrode to the nearest test clamps shall not exceed ).2 ohms. Specifications including the fees for inspection together with the liabilities and obligations as detailed in the general conditions of Agreement. 2. !rices shall remain firm and free from variation due to rise and fall in the cost materials and labor or anyother price variation whatsoever whether during the stipulated period of execution or during extended period of completion if any, except direct statutory, increase by the act of Fovt. or local %odies. 9. &tem rates shall remain valid for any variations in the estimated quantities given in the schedule of qualities. &n order to facilitate the technical scrutiny of various quotations, the tender must supply with their quotations detailed technical particulars, make, catalogues and erection drawings for various items under different parts specified in the schedule of quantities. (. The power supply shall be 9 phase, ( wire, (43?2() volts A.'. and frequency of 3) cycles, per second. All consuming devices shall be suitable for the voltage and frequency mentioned above. 3 The drawings and specifications lay down minimum standard of equipment and workmanship and deviations, if any, shall be clearly set down in Annexure6&. &n the absence of any deviations, it will be deemed that the tender is fully satisfied S!#'&-&'AT&.> 1#,#'T;&'A,* 12 with the intents of the specifications and drawings and their compliance with the statutory and fire insurance provisions including local codes. here the drawings and specifications conflict, the more stringent shall apply. 5 All equipment and the installation shall be tested as specified and a test certificate in the prescribed from as required by the local supply authorities shall be furnished. 8 The entire installation shall be guaranteed against defective material or workmanship for a period of 42 months from the date the installation has been certified by the !ro"ect #ngineer and taken over by the owner. During the guarantee period, all the defects shall be rectified by the Developer, free of cost. < The successful tender shall submit the drawings for all the :T?,T boards to the !ro"ect #ngineer for approval. The approval of these drawings will be general and will not absolve the Developer of the responsibility of the correctness of these drawings. At least 5 copies of the approved drawings shall be supplied to the !ro"ect #ngineer for their distribution to various agencies at Site at no cost to the !ro"ect #ngineer. 7 The successful Developer shall arrange water and power connections required for the ork at his own cost. The Developer shall also instal tested meters at his own cost. The Developer shall pay the actual consumption at the supply company?agency rates. 4) The tenders must see the Site conditions and take all the aforesaid and foregoing factors while quoting the rates, as no extra will be allowed on any ground arising out of or relating to the aforesaid and foregoing. 44 The successful Developer shall include in his rates for painting with 9 coats of synthetic enamel paint to match the surroundings or as directed by the !ro"ect #ngineer for all down rod hangers pertaining, to light fixtures fans etc. 42 he Developer shall supply completion drawings of the entire installation on a tracing cloth showing the complete wiring diagram as executed at Site drawn to scale approved by the !ro"ect #ngineer after the completion of ork but before completion certificate is given by the !ro"ect #ngineer. 49 The Developer must include in their rates any fees to Fovt. and arrange all sanction from the electrical inspector. 4( After laying and "ointing the cables shall be sub"ect to necessary tests as stipulated in &S >o. 3737 1!art 6&*, 478). 43. The materials of the 4st preference shall be used and the Developer may excuse himself of not doing so only, if the required range, as per tender specifications, is not manufactured by the particular manufacturer. The evidence of such case shall be supported by a letter from the respective manufacturer. All samples of all electric fittings an other accessories shall be approved by the !ro"ect #ngineer prior to their installation. 45. 45 &n case where this specification and the description in the Schedule of +uantities differ, the ork shall be carried out, as detailed in the schedule of quantities. 48. >o alternation whatsoever is to be made to the text or quantities of this schedule of quantities, unless such alteration is authorities in writing by the Architects.
