Welcome to my first guide! This is Skill guide for Ragnarok DS. I originally
make this for my personal use, but since it might also be useful to everyone, I
am sharing it here. I hope that it will be some help for people who want to
know about skill in this game. If you feel that this FAQ need improvement or
need correction, you can do so on the board of Gamefaqs since I don't have a
policy of make my e-mail public, nor that I would take a look at e-mail from
unknown sender anyway. I welcome any suggestions and corrections (no complain,
please.)
One more thing to add, English is not my first language. If you find English
error or some Engrish, please forgive me XD.
Also if you want to contact me, don't even try to e-mail me as I said earlier.
I am most likely not checking my e-mail anyway. You can make a discussion at
GameFAQs board, though. I should be there almost every day (with a little time
difference since I live in Japan.) If you don't see me anymore, then that also
means that by that time I have no more interest to update it anyway. So, this
should be fare enough :)

1. What is skill? (wisk)

Skill is everything in this game! Skills will help you with your game play in
lots of ways. You can use it to attack, defense, support, or do some other
things. There are 2 main types of skills in this game, Active and Passive
skills.

1.1 Active skills. (wisk0110)

Active skills are skills that require you to trigger or to activate it.
Usually, you will need to set this kind of skills in a short cut panel to use
them. There are many ways to use this. This type of skill has rank (for more
info about rank, check Q&A section [quan])
- Touch Self
Use stylus to touch yourself. Usually, something that will improve your
character
- Touch Ally
Use stylus to touch Party member, including you. It is mostly for healing
skills and buffs.
- Touch Location
Use stylus to touch any where. It doesn't matter if there is something over
there or not, as long as that place is accessible.
- Touch Enemy
Use stylus to touch target enemy.
- Slash Enemy
Use stylus to draw a slashing line at your enemy.
- Tap Target
Use stylus to tap enemy multiple times. You will see an orange bar at your
character. It is charging time and the skill may active before it is fully
charge if you tap enough time already.
- Tap Area
Use stylus to tap at any area on the map. Usually, you will be able to tap 2
times on low level skills and 3 times for higher level skills.
- Line on Ground
Use stylus to draw a line anywhere on the map. It doesn't matter if your line
is straight or not. You can even scratch your line at some point and you will
be fine.
- Circle on Ground
Use stylus to draw a circle anywhere on the map. Usually for fast Area skills.
- Charge Direction
Press your stylus at a direction. Release when you want to use it. Usually for
range attack.
*There are 3 phase for every Charge skills. When it is white, it means that the
skill is not yet ready. A small yellow means it can be used, but not quite
effective yet. A big orange means it is fully charge. You can attack during
charge if you choose a target before using skill.
- Charge Location
Press your stylus at a location. Release when you want to use it. Note that
since it says location, it is not an area skill.
- Charge Area
Press your stylus at an area. Release when you want to use it. This is usually
area skill.
- Charge Self
Press your stylus over your character. You can release if you want to quickly
use it, or you can wait it to max charge and trigger automatically.
- Max Charge
It is almost the same with Charge Self. Just that it requires that you need to
fully charge for it to work.
- Charge/Release
Press your stylus over your character. When it is charged and ready to be used,
drag stylus into a desire direction.
- Special Case (Charge/Select, Touch Trap)
Charge/Select is for Warm Wind skill. After a charge, a choice of element will
be available for you to choose. Touch Trap is Hunter skills that need to be use
on traps.

1.2 Passive skills. (wisk0120)

Easy enough, when you have these skills, you don't have to do anything special.
I will always be activated and there will be no SP cost at all. A lot of
Passive skills are very useful. These skills will not use up your short cut
slots. Lastly, they have no rank.

2. Obtaining Final skill (obfs)

Final skill is a skill that cannot be obtained by normal means. Normally, no
matter how much skill point you gained or how much you level, the skill won't
appear before you. What you need to do to have access to this skill is that you
will need a "spirit" item for each job. For example, you will need "Shaman
Spirit" to be able to use Shaman's final skill.
To obtain Spirits, you will need to have your choice of class as your guild
member. Note that your story NPC is not included (Rolek and the other can be
use to obtain Spirits, though.) You will need to do 2 things: Change them to
Job 2 and make their status Buddy/Friend. If the conditions are met, a new
quest will be available at the guild and you will get "Spirit" item as your
reward for clearing it.
Once you got it, you will have it forever since it will be sitting in your key
item list. So, you will not have to worry about it if you want to change job or
do limit breaks. However, it doesn't mean you will be able to use it as soon as
you have the Spirit. You will still have to distribute your point to some other
skills first. Check skill list section (skli) to see which skill is needed to
unlock which skill.
In this section, I will only tell you details about the quest to get spirit
item for each class since requirements fore each quest are the same as
mentioned above.

Take the guild member who accepted the request to defeat the dragon that
appeared in El Mes Gorge

Accompany the guild member who accepted the request to defeat the chief thief

Quest name: Point of Light
Help the shaman in East Prontera Woods.
This is quite easy quest to finish since it is super close by. In the NW
section of East Prontera Woods, there should be a lake. You will find a shaman
that you should be helping there. Monsters will appear and once you defeat it,
it is as good as done.

3. Skill list (skli)

*NOTE* Usefulness is simply my opinion on the skill. If you don't agree, you
can just ignore it or discuss about it at gameFAQs board.
*NOTE* Usefulness is to indicate how useful that skill is, from good to bad is
"S" "A" "B" "C" "D" in that order.
*NOTE* I will not list SP cost for each skill since some skill change it's SP
cost along with skill level (for example, Higher level Heal will use more SP
than lower level Heal.) Instead, I will Give rating for SP consumption (low,
okay, mid, high, super.)

3.1 Knight class (skli0110)

Skill point total: 148
Knight is considered a broken job class. It is among the best job of choice to
run wild in Mirage tower. You can solo MT very early on, and this class has
very fast killing time, too. I sometimes go challenge MT even as soon as I
change to second job. You just need to pierce away everything. Low on health?
Potions will heal lots more than you would have hoped. Ran out of Potions? Just
stand there and look at your health filled up! You don't even need to look for
final skill to be a killing machine and you don't even need that much SP since
pierce requires so little. Equipments usually have higher defense and range of
weapon often have more attack point. Well?

This skill increase damage when using one handed sword. It is rather useful
since your damage output will be automatically upgrade. Is there any reason not
to upgrade this? Well, unless you are not planning to use one handed sword, get
this skill.

This skill increase damage when using two handed sword. You might got confuse
with picture with two swords. It still means "one two handed sword." Don't try
or worry about equip two weapons with this job. It won't work.

Usefulness: S
A high damage skill that you can get very early on. Since it requires low SP
and can be use quickly, this skill is a must in most situations. It will get
even better later since there is a skill that improves this skill, Fatal Blow.

Usefulness: A
Area explosion is nice. It is a fire elemental attack that can hit a mob very
fast. Damage is not as good as Bash, but it is a multi-target skill.

Chance to stun enemy when using Bash, how nice can it get? Well, in fact, I
won't give it much credit. Why? Since Enemy tend to die before it even got
stunned. And most enemy who don't die being hit by Bash, usually is a boss or
something that immune to stun. While the concept is nice, it don't really have
its opportunity to shine that much.

Usefulness: A
This skill help increasing natural HP regeneration and recovery item effect.
Every 5 seconds, this skill will heal you according to this formula:
(Skill Lv) * 5 + (MAXHP) / 100
While it is nice to be able to recover for free, it takes times. The more
useful part of this skill is the fact that Potions' effect got boost if you ask
me.

hit you receive will also be nullified. Sound good? I don't think it is as nice
as it sound. Usually, this skill fails since waiting time is the problem.
Unless you are really getting use to this skill, it is quite hard to catch
enemy attack. In some case, enemy might use magic on you, which will make this
whole thing meaning less. On the other hand, even if you can master the use of
this skill, I find it a lot easier to just smack my enemies in their face even
before they got a chance to attack me.

This class is considered a supportive class. Or rather, it sucks when it comes
to attack by their selves. But, I do not mean that this is a bad class. I
actually think the opposite. In fact, I clear Mirage Tower for the first time
with this class with a help of another player that did not limit breaks that
much or even have Spirit item at all.
Even though I said this job is really bad at attacking, it is a god of defense
and surviving. In fact, if played properly, this job class is invincible. No
magic or physical attack can actually be strong enough to take a skilled priest
down. With another attacking class player with you, your team will be
unstoppable.

anyway. Sleep, Freeze, Paralyzed, and petrified can be cure by getting hit once
so it is not too bad and Stun does not takes too long to cure. One nice thing
that it can cure is blind but I think that is about it for this skill.

Heal is a very helpful skill as you know. Then, how about group healing skill?
This supposes to be a great skill, right? Wrong! It is true that Sanctuary is
an area skill that can heal by huge amount multiples of times, it is also true
that it will heal monsters, too, unless they are undead. So, basically, as your
health will be refilled, so does enemies. It is not so bad if used by a skilled
player and if used in a correct timing. But usually the AI will just use it
when ever your party health falls a little low. In some case, even if enemies
have a very low health already, the AI will still use this skill. This skill is
one of the reasons why people have problem with the final boss of the game.

game you will not have to worry about this skill much.

Although, the effect of this skill will last longer than Kyrie Elesion, in most
of the case, you will see that the ability to move win in the end. You will not
want to stay in the same place that long anyway.

Finally, it is a real attack skill for priest. This will creates a ball of
energy that pierce through enemies. It only hit once, but it will pierce

Kyrie Elesion, that should not be too much problem.

Skill point total: 136
Hunter class kind of disappoints me in this game. In PC version, this class is
broken since you will hardly miss due to the fact that DEX gives you both
attack power and accuracy, so you don't need to worry about STR. Hunter got
wide range of elemental arrow to use and you will hardly receive any damage due
to long range attack and high AGI. Moreover, you can shoot arrow as fast as you
are using machinegun and if you have high enough LUK and a falcon with you, You
will see your falcon fly back and forth non-stop.
We still have them here in DS version, but they have been nerf so bad! ASPD in
this game is not as fast as in PC version. Game vision is limited due to DS
small screen, so you will not have that much range benefits. You will no longer
be able to shoot arrow from up hill down or the other way around, so no more
sneak attack for you. Elemental arrow is still there, but is outclassed by STR
boost of Megingards of other classes. Good news is that you will need to buy
only one arrow to be able to use them forever and you will not need to buy
traps. But that doesn't matter much anyway. This class is good to use in the
story mode and for the most part, but when it comes to Mirage tower run, bows
and arrows are not really cut for it. Later in the game, when you have better
range of equipments, a hunter with knife will work better eventually.

far as your screen can go. Never go further than that. I would say that after
level 3, I would give this skill E rank.

not have a chance to use this skill much.

manually since the game will automatically remove it for you. I try to think
hard why I want to remove my own trap and I cannot think of anything. If
someone knows, please tell me. But as for now, this is the most useless skill
in the entire game.

Here comes my favorite skill on ROPC. It is still one of my favorite skills in
this game. This skill will make a falcon attack enemies in horizontal line.
Thus, this can also attack multiple enemies. Good thing about this skill is
that its damage is decided by ATK. So no matter if you have lots of DEX and
using bow or lots of STR and using knife, this skill will still do great with
both. Each hit is not that strong, but it can hit up to 5 times and it doesn't
have cast time. You can spam this skill as much as you like. In Mirage tower, I
like to destroy bright sphere using this. it is really nice to have in your
shortcut bar.

Remove Trap then? Well, as I said so many times before that some of the traps
can hit multiple enemies. This means that even if enemies did not touch it, as
long as it stays close enough, it will get caught up in the burst. Same case
happens here. But it is kink of difficult to aim and it will be a lot easier
just to set a new trap. So it is still out of league.

in that spot. During that time, enemy might already move away. So, you will
have to make sure that enemy will stay at the same spot when the attack
actually lands. Besides that point, this skill can do huge amount of damage and
it is fast to use. Basically, it is one of the reasons why I said Knife hunter
is better than Bow hunter.

Broken! With blacksmith, there are lots of useful passive skills and a lot of
useful buff skills. It is easy to get 999 ATK and 200 ASPD. Actually, you will
eventually have too much STR with all buff together and high enough initial
stat. That is not all, you will have a lot of broken attack skill that you some
of awesome skills will look so normal. Since this happens, some of usefulness
will look unbalanced. I seriously think that this class should share its
awesome skill they don't need with some other class. Anyway, if you look at the
skills list you will understand what I mean in no time.

case change the whole image for this skill. That one thing is to be able to

game, you will end up having more zenny than you would need. Just do not die

For every 2 level, zenny use decrease by 50. So you will end up using 50 zenny
per hit at max level. But who cares about zenny in this game. You should be
able to find plenty if you are Merchant anyway. Just use it to your heart
content. I admit that at the very first part of the game it is hard to just
spam Mammonite like that. But when the time comes, you will find that it worth
every zenny you paid for.

skill you should not miss.

This is what a Final Skill should be. It will cause a cave-in and many falling
rock will attack enemies in an area with a chance to stun. It is a multiple
attack and a multiple target skill that does super nice damage. A Blacksmith
with high enough ATK can kill Owl Barons in the Mirage Tower in this one shot.
This is a super broken skill. Even final boss of MT will not stand this attack
for long. Have this and the game is as good as yours.

In PC version, you will have a hard time to decide how to build this class up.
There were too many choices to choose from and each path will leads to a
totally different style of mage. But now, you can obtain every skill when you
reach JobLV 99. Many skill are removed, include the very former one such as
fire ball. Skill tree is a lot easier to figure out since it is quite straight
forward in DS version. However, this class is kind of weak and got nerfed a
lot.
It is certainly a fun class to play with. If you start a new game, you will
find this class enjoyable. Just......don't try to build this class and hope
that you will have an easy time in MT. That won't happen any day, I can tell
you that much. Your attack will not do much and you will not be able to kill
anything as fast as Knight or Blacksmith would do.

depends on ATK, not your MATK. Since most of magician should have high INT and
low STR, this skill will do crappy damage. But, if you make a STR magician,
this skill will do more damage than you would think. Also, it has fast casting
time. I would say it is not a completely useless skill like Hunter's detecting.
B rank is given since you would normally have low ATK, but it also has
potential for any STR magician.

if you select it or, in other word, choose to attack it. You will be able to
see this little information in a small description bar at the bottom of the
screen. It won't tell you the enemy weakness, item it can drop, property, and
enemy size. I find it rather stupid that it won't tell even enemy's element
which will be useful to Wizard. Instead, it tells information that only could
be use with Taekwon class.

skill unless you don't have anything else in your mind. It still has quite fast
charge and the pillar seems to be there for quite a long while and you will be
able to use other skill during that time, so I wouldn't say it is that useless.
But by that time, you will have an access to a lot of much better skills
already.

but it rarely happens. Personally, I use this skill a lot like how I use Spirit
of Earth as Shaman. It is not a killer move that does a lot of damage, but it
can quickly kill small enemies and you can spam this easily since it requires a
little SP.

Thunder used to be a killer move that kills everything easily. In DS version,

good, but not as good as it should be. It won't knock enemy back and it hit
only once. Its damage is about as same as Ice Wall but the time you use to
charge Jupiter Thunder, you could easily use it to cast around 3 or more Ice
Wall. It is still not that bad of a skill, though.

a casting delay. So, it is possible that it would miss your target. Small, not
damaging, prevent you from attack. That's what I have to say about this skill.

To tell you the truth, I never play ROPC to the point that they introduced this
class. So, basically I cannot compare Taekwon class from DS version and PC
version. Also, since I had no experience using this class before DS version, my
point of view on this class would be somewhat strange. But, please do not mind
that.
One thing about Solar, Lunar, Stellar skills, in DS version it is working
differently from PC version. From what I have read, they have nothing in common
at all. So, if you were playing Taekwon class in PV version, please pay
attention to these skill types since you might be confused by how different
they are.
In fact, when I get used to using this class, I think it can perform pretty
well. Rather, if you use it correctly, it can be a walking killing machine in a
way. There are a lot of weird skills for this class and a lot of them are
confusing. Lucky enough, it does not playing too much role and you might not
have to worry about it much. But once you mastered how to use this class, you
will find it is quite an interesting class.

think this is not so good since you will loose your chance to use Frione card,
Hornet card, Skeleton worker card, etc. But, as a first job, you cannot equip
anything anyway, so it is not so bad for beginner.

You will do a spin kick that attack into a target direction. It might use up
sometime to charge and when you release it, you will be right next to enemy
(assume that you aim at an enemy, duh.) In my opinion, it is not better than
just running up to enemy and directly hit enemy later. Damage is okay, but
nothing special. I would rather use Axe kick or Round kick instead.

tell what element we are currently using or check if it is still in effect or
not. It is true that we can assume that if you tab red, yellow, green, or blue
panel, you will gain FIRE, EARTH, WIND, or WATER element in your attack. But
there is a chance that we touch the wrong one without realize that fact and
there will be no way to check. Just ignore this skill, really.

This class is pretty interesting. It is a Jack of all trade in physical attack
area. You will be able to use 1-handed swords, 2-handed swords and axes with
this class. This means, you will be able to use lots of the strong weapons in
this game. It also has lots of attack skill types to play with and interesting
buff skills. It is easy to reach 999 ATK and 200 ASPD with Dark Knight, too.
And with high Critical rate, 200 ASPD is really something. In solo Mirage Tower
runs, Dark Knight can do pretty well. In fact, this is the first class that I
use to complete solo MT challenge (well, since at that time, I still didn't
know about Knight and Blacksmith broken potential...)
But seriously, what's up with its design!?! I see art work for this class which
is not too bad, but the sprite is too funny. Its coolness of something supposes
to be a "dark evil warrior" had been reduced into some weird looking dude. At
least a girl design is not that bad, though. But do not misjudge this class by
its looks, since it can be one of the most reliable classes you need to cut
your enemies down!

whole thing meaning less. On the other hand, even if you can master the use of
this skill, I find it a lot easier to just smack my enemies in their face even
before they got a chance to attack me.

of fun to play with, and it is a very good AI team member. I usually find
Sierra more reliable than Rolek for some reason. Well, when she is not doing
her raining dance that is...
Despites all that bad points, Shaman can be a nice healer and also an okay
attacker. Shaman still lack when it comes to Physical attack, but who cares.
Also, character design is cool >.< Male Shaman looks kinnda...girlish, though.
Anyway! If you are just playing for fun and do not care about solo MT run, then
this class is no a bad choice.

side, right? Unlike Spiritual Comfort, its action animation takes more time to
cast, so you will not be able to just spam this skill.

seconds for each level.

of that, the only skill that will work with this is Spirit of Water, which is a
nice skill. However, when it comes to actual use, it is not that great. It is
not that good since I do not really see the difference before and after using
this skill even at max level. The reason might be that it is necessary to have
this skill at level 3 to be able to have Spirit of Water. So, a little
difference in level will not affect damage outcome much.

and recharge time. It takes sometime to actually hit enemy which during that
time you might get hit by enemies. It is not that bad if you are using it
carefully. The thing is usual damage output is not that good. It is due to the
fact that this attack is SPIRIT element spell and not many enemies are weak
against it

takes time to charge. Usually, if you want to use this without getting hit, you
will have to runaway quite far and charge from far away. FIRE element seldom
works, but considers how it works this skill still does not cut to be one of
your base attack.

Launch 3 pillars of EARTH wave energy with a chance to petrify any enemies
which touch the pillar. It is ridiculously fast. It is ridiculously strong. It
can inflict a useful status effect. This skill here will be your main arsenal
that you can spam easily. The only bad part about this is actually that useful
petrify status effect will makes enemies turn into EARTH monster. You will do
zero damage to EARTH monster with this attack so to attack enemies which were
petrified with it is quite useless. You will just have to hit it with something
else. It is still a great skill, though.

chance to mute enemies. It is like a mini Storm Gust since it is a little
smaller and damage is smaller. But, it also has a little faster charge time,
too. So, it is not that bad. Mute, or Silence which ever you choose to call it,
is not a big deal here. This skill is good for its use for attacking.

It requires more of other skill than Spirit of Fire and this is only what they
can offer. It is kind of a let down...

This is truly a let down compare to Spirit of Wind. What it does is allow you
to tap up to 3 times on screen where SPIRIT balls will fall to attack enemies
multiple times. Sounds great, right? Since it is a Tap Area skill, it should be
easy enough to spam this skill, right? Well, yea it does. But is this pitiful
damage is about!?! Even though it is fast to cast, delay time is too great that
you will not be able to cast another spell soon. Each ball will hit around 5
times, with around 100-200 damage per hit even at 999 MATK. Pitiful, I tell
you. Even Wizard's Thunder Storm can do better than this. You definitely cannot
depend on this skill to do solo MT. Spirit of Earth, on the other hand, can
deal more damage than this. This skill is not worthy enough to be called a
final skill.

Q: What is rank?
A: Rank shows how much you have used that skill. If you used that skill lots of
time, rank will be increased to the maximum of S rank. Higher the rank, lower
SP cost for that skill. Passive skill is not included, obviously. At rank S, it
will reduce SP cost in half. You will be able to upgrade by one rank after
every 50 uses except rank S which requires 100 uses.

Rank D reduces it by 0%, C 10%, B 20%, A 30%, and S 50%
From Rank D to C is 50 uses, C to B is another 50, B to A is yet another 50,
and A to S is 100.
Also, rebirthing resets all ranks to D.

Q: Is it possible to manually set skills for other party member?
A: No. The closest to that is that you make your own character and dupe it into
your party with Mirage Tower character duplication technique.
Q: How can I dupe Character from MT, then?
A: This technique will dupe your character that you use in MT. It will copy
appearance, skill, level, and even equipments. Traits are random, however.
1. Make sure your party is full (such as 16/16)
2. Go to Mirage tower.
3. Challenge in single player mode.
4. Go to menu. Do not choose preparation complete.
5. Leave Menu screen with back icon on the lower right.
6. Leave Preparation screen completely. Do not choose preparation complete.
7. Leave MT, go back to Guild headquarter.
8. Kick a party member.
You will notice that your member number is the same. Check the last member. It
will be the character from MT.

Fun fact!
- The Maximum skill point while you are Novice is 10 (have 1 skill point at Job
level 1)
- When change to 1st Job, your Skill point will be reset to 1 along with job
level, and Skills from Novice are gone.
- Maximum skill point you can earn while you are in 1st job is 50.
- When change to 2nd Job, your current Skill stays and your unused skill point
will still be there. This is kind of useful if 2nd Job skill is a lot better or
needed. For example, you don't need to put point into Sward mastery and save
them for Spear mastery in the 2nd Job for Poke Knight.
- Maximum skill point you can earn in 2nd job is 99.
- Your cloned character is really your clone. It will copy anything. It also
means that if you did limit break, your copied character will also have Maximum
Job level increase! Which means for 5 times or more limit break the copied
character will also have the maximum Job level at 99 no matter when you copied
it? No need to train your character until it reaches 99/99 just for character
dupe, yay!
