5.1 General Description
"-e project co,ers t-e i+pro,e+ent of Sg. Rasau;Sg. Air <ita+ draining t-e nort-=:est
portion of Putraja2a and nort-ern part of C25erja2aC and Sg. Parit "a+poi draining t-e
soutern part of C25erja2a.
"-e o5jecti,e of t-e project is to create a flood free en,iron+ent conduci,e for t-e fast
pace of de,elop+ent in MSC.

5.2 Sg. Rasau/Sg. Air Hitam and Associated Works
5.2.1 &missions
"-e construction contract includes inlet and outlet structures for a detention pond in ELot
1F. As t-e per+ission for t-e use of t-e pond :as not granted 52 t-e rele,ant aut-orit2
during t-e contract periodC t-ese :or0s :ere o+itted. Anot-er conse@uence of t-is :as
t-at Sg. Rasau upstrea+ of t-e pond :as onl2 partiall2 i+pro,ed :it- a pro,isional
section :it-out 5an0 protection :or0s.
5.2.2 Ri4er -5annel and Ri4er )und
Sg. Rasau=Air <ita+ is an entirel2 ne: ri,er c-annel constructed to recei,e flo:s fro+
Sg. Rasau and Sg. Air <ita+ and disc-arges into Sg. Dlang just upstrea+ of Elite
<ig-:a2. !t is 2.8 0+ long up to t-e confluence :it- Sg. Air <ita+ and t-e co+pleted
ri,er section -as a 5otto+ :idt- of 29 +. "-e top :idt- of t-e ri,er 5unds is ' +. .ot-
t-e interior and e?terior side slope is < to 1G. "-e 5unds :ere constructed of suita5le
+aterial fro+ t-e ri,er e?ca,ation :or0. "-e -eig-t of t-e 5und is % to ' +. See (ra:ing

"-e upper stretc- of Sg. Rasau=Air <ita+ along C-. 999=%1* and t-e outlet structure
for t-e ELot 1F detention pond :ere o+itted due to presence of +ining acti,it2 52 t-ird
parties creating a large pond at t-is location.
Sg. Air <ita+ is 1.% 0+ long and e?tends fro+ its confluence :it- Sg. Rasau=Air <ita+ to
t-e outlet of t-e t:in %.*+ ? .9 + 5o? cul,ert crossing Putrja2a Lin0. !t recei,es flo:s
fro+ t-e :estern portion of C25erja2a t-roug- t-e Missing Lin0 1 and 2 :-ic- -a,e not
5een constructed at t-e ti+e of :riting t-is +anual. "-e co+pleted Sg. Air <ita+ -as a

"-e peat soil at C-. 1269=%1'9 is s-allo: 3up to % + deep4 and soil replace+ent using
i+ported sand :as carried out to for+ t-e ri,er section :it- 5unds on 5ot- sides of t-e
ri,er and side slopes of 1GB< :ere pro,ided. (eep peat up to 6 + is found along C-.
%1'9=1%99I as suc-C a natural co+pound c-annel :it- ,er2 flat 31GB'<4 side slopes :as
constructed in t-e parent +aterial :it-out soil replace+ent along t-is stretc-.
Sg. Rasau recei,es flo:s fro+ its catc-+ent as :ell as fro+ Sg. Gaja- Catc-+ent and
is planned to disc-arge into t-e detention pond in ELot 1F. As per+ission for t-e use of
t-e pond :as dela2edC t-e inlet structure to t-e pond :as o+itted and an interi+ unlined
co+pound section :it- a 5otto+ :idt- of 1 + :as constructed for Sg. Rasau. At t-e ti+e
of t-is :ritingC t-is ri,er disc-arges into an e?=+ining pond in Lot '1* to t-e nort- of Lot
1 t-roug- t-e e?isting old Sg. Rasau and finall2 flo:s into Sg. Dlang t-roug- anot-er
Sg. Air <ita+ upstrea+ of Sg. Rasau=Air <ita+.
5.2. &ut$all Structures.
"-ese structures cater for t-e drainage of areas flan0ing Sg. Rasau;Air <ita+. "-e2
consist of precast R.C.5o? or pipe cul,erts founded on 1'9++ ? 1'9++ R.C. piles.
E?cept for CR1 and CR2 :-ic- are fitted :it- <(PE flap gates to pre,ent local flooding
due to 5ac0:ater fro+ Sg. Dlang during -ig- :ater stageC t-e outfall structures are
ungated. C1C C2 and C pro,ide crossings for drainage of C25erja2a and Pinggiran
C25erja2a across Putraja2a Lin0 into Sg. Air <ita+.
5.2.# Access Road
"-e access road consists of + :ide crus-er=run surfacing along t-e ' + :ide ri,er
5und. "-e surfacing allo:s inspection and +aintenance to 5e carried out e,en in :et
:eat-er. Access is pro,ided for 5ot- sides of t-e ri,ers. /-ere cut off 52 ponds and
along Sg. Air <ita+ C- %1'9=1%99C access is pro,ided on one side onl2.
5.2.5 Ri4er !rotection Works
"-e entire stretc- of Sg. Rasau=Air <ita+ and Sg. Air <ita+ fro+ C-. 9 to C-. %1'9 are
lined :it- sand=filled +attress. "-e purpose is to sta5iliAe t-e ri,er against erosionC and
to control :eed gro:t- along t-e side slopes.

Riprap :as placed at t-e toe of sand=filled +attress to pre,ent toe scour. !t :as also
placed at pond inlets and outlets and at t-e outlet of all outfall structures to ensure t-e
sta5ilit2 of t-e structures.
