The functional differences between PeopleTools 8.52 and 8.53 are as follows:
New Look and Feel

PeopleTools 8.53 has redesigned the user interface, giving PeopleSoft a more contemporary and
visually appealing look and feel.



Related Actions

- PeopleTools 8.52 provides Related Actions Framework. This is a feature consisting in a menu of
actions or options that are contextually appropriate to the users role and particular data
presented on the application screen.

- However, PeopleTools 8.53 provides Related Actions to Pivot Grids, allowing users to take
actions directly on data displayed in a pivot grid. This greatly increases the scope of possibilities
for drill-down from the displayed data. Also, Related Services can be applied in groups, making it
easier to configure the same action to appear in multiple places.

PeopleTools 8.53 provides a PIA page allowing you to upload new HTML, images, style-sheets
and JavaScript without needing App Designer access. This makes it easier to rebrand the user
interface to match corporate standards. Additionally, many of the images that were used for
PeopleTools 8.52 have been replaced by CSS in PeopleTools 8.53. This will lead to faster page
load times and quicker rebranding.

WorkCenters and Dashboards

- PeopleTools 8.52 supports homepage pagelets, partial refresh in component-based pagelets
(which are created in Application Designer).

- PeopleTools 8.53 improved the way WorkCentre pages and dashboards were designed and
used, moving to configuration versus development. Applications could now consume pagelets in
WorkCentre pages, homepages, and dashboards. This has provided user the ability to configure
their own tailored Dashboards and WorkCentres.

Activity Guides

PeopleTools 8.52 does not support Activity Guides. These are new in PeopleTools 8.53 and are
intended to guide the end user through a particular set of pages to accomplish a task. The
Activity Guide is displayed in the left hand column and updates itself to show progress as the
user moves between the content pages.

Data Migration Workbench

PeopleTools 8.53 allows functional staff to easily move setup data between systems without
having to use Data Mover, therefore, allowing them to migrate without needing the assistance
of technical colleagues. This is not supported by PeopleTools 8.52.

BI Publisher

PeopleTools 8.53 supports BI Publisher which can output native Excel documents, as well as an
HTML file seen in PeopleTools 8.52.

Charts

The bubble and scatter charts in PeopleTools 8.53 have been improved greatly compared to
PeopleTools 8.52. The Gantt and Org Charts are also benefitted by improved look and feel of
PeopleTools 8.53.
