The lack of professional physicians is a serious problem in our community and people often choose to go

to medical centers from other countries for the same eternal reason which can be interpreted in many
ways: "we don't have good doctors". However, this option may pe completely unavailable for the people
whose financial situation is not that bright and this is the case for more than 70% of the population.
Well, what is the solution for those? Our project! The complete education for a doctor starts very early
and this is what we are doing: offering high school students willing to attend the medical school, a wide
range of activities and challenges to prepare them to be the future outstanding doctors.
I am the founder of the venture and i am leading it together with other three colleagues and friends.
Because I am the one who is interested directly in medicine, I chose the other three coordinators from
totally different fields of interest: economy, chemistry and art, so we can complete each other and
pursue amazing projects together.
In December 2013, the Community E.R. project, part of the Future Medical Students Club, won the
second prize in a national competition called "European Leader". The final stage took place in Bucharest,
at the European Commission Representation, where we had to present the project in front of a
prestigious jury. The members of the jury were: Mr. Csibi Magor - the president of World Wide Fauna
Romania, Ms. Dana Deac - the president of the national television, Mr. Ovidiu Nahoi- journalist and 2
members from the European Commision. We won a grant of 500 euros which represented a new start
for charity shows and campaings.

We managed to involved around 100 volunteers in our project and the impact on the community was
impressive, as people we interviewed on our street reportages (shown in the movie I attached) were
very happy that somebody is taking care of their future doctors complete education and congratulated
our initiative. As we started to expand our work we managed to sign a few partnerships with the Red
Cross, the Children Hospital, Hospice Brasov and Public Health Center which provides us informative
materials.
We all know that amazingly well-prepared physicians represent the key to a healthier community. With
this in mind, I created the "Future Medical Students" Club in my highschool which brings together all the
"'med addicts" once a week and involves each of us in a great range of activities in order to provide a
wide and complete education for the career path we have chosen.

The main activities are split into two sections:

A.Medicine Related: 1. hospital volunteering ( our patnership with the children hospital offer us the
possibilty to join the medical team on every weekend. In this way we interact we real cases from a very
early age and we get used to the hospital environment)
2.First-aid lessons for young citizens - we offer a series of first aid lessons in which young
students may participate. Not only that we help the people in our community to be prepared in
emergency situations, but we also improve our communication, public speaking and presentation skills.
3. Medical Conferences - we have two monthly conferences with well known doctors
from different fields who are telling us their story and try to guide us in the "medical developing",
becoming our mentors.
4.Anti drug campaigns
5.Informative street-campaigns - we offer free informative materials to people on the
street and we talk to them trying to explain the risks, the causes and prevention of a certain disease as
AIDS, Diabetes, Hypertension, etc.
6. Science Conferences - we get the chance to organize conferences on different
interesting topics such as "Artificial Blood" or "Cryostasis"

B. Community Service Related: 1. Charity shows - i am the choreographer of a dance group and member
of a pop rock band together with we organize different charity shows in our town. The woney we raise is
offered to the low income families in our highschool or to special cases that our partners indicate
2.Collecting clothes and toys for the children in the placement centers in our area
3.Offering private lessons for 10 children with no material possibilities, but with outstanding results in
school (once a week)

Each of this activities offers the future doctors a new opportunity to develop a certain vital skill in their
career: communication, team work, leadership, empathy, sense of responsability and organizational
competences.
All in all, it is all about educating the future doctors across the anatomy books, we are trying to provide
the full education they need in order to become outstanding physicians.
It is said that "if nobody thinks you are crazy, you haven't done anything worthwhile!" As I am definitely
not the person who'd like to live her life without doing something to remember, I try to make it a movie
worth watching.
I am a highschool student in 11th grade, enrolled in the Earth Science Program at Andrei Saguna
National College in Brasov. I intend to apply to med school, in order to follow my childhood dream and
teenage passion. However, beside the amazing mysteries of the human body which fascinate me since I
started to study advanced human anatomy and physilogy, I am a very creative, open minded and
energetic person, so that I use all of these in other activites, completely different from the scientific
field.
I have been practicing ballet for 13 years at Reduta Cultural Center in Brasov. Beside, learning how to
organize my life in a healthy way, destressing my body and mind, escaping from the everyday life and
having the opportunity to express every feeling in an artistic way, i gained the most precious gift, a new
family: 30 dancers, aged 18-40 became my very close family members and taught me important lessons
in life as I learned a little bit from each of them.
I always loved meeting new people and learning about foreign countries and cultures, so as soon as my
English level became good enough to communicate, I become a member of the Couchsurfing
Community. Since 2012 I have been meeting dozens of people all over the world, and now I have
Swedish, American, Spanish, Swiss, French, Mexican, British, Czech, German and Chinese friends who
represent a different model of lifestyle, each of them in their own way. Even if I acted as a host or a city
guide, it is absolutely amazing, how these experiences enriched my life: I learned a lot of things, from
Mongolian throat singing from a Swedish med student to new theories in cancer research, from the last
coushsurfer I met, Wei Xiao from China.
As studying for highschool is a nice, but tiring activity, I choose to relax myself in an active way and this
is why I first took up volunteering. I am a pretty impacient person, I can't wait for thing to happen and as
being a doctor seems so far away I thought volunteering is the only way I could bring it closer. I am
volunteering at Red Cross and Children Hospital together with the members of my venture and I have to
say that it is definitely the best experience young students could have. Facing actual cases and testing
myself with every critical situation I am presented, prepares me to the real medical career and offers me
great experiences I could never forget.
As for future plans, I know that I won't give up volunteering or leading a venture like "Community E.R."
and this is just because they represent me and who I am. I could not only sit and watch life passing by,
together with wonderful people and missed experiences.
I am involved in community service, as I am volunteering at Red Cross, Hospice of Hope, Children
Hospital and Solve&Perform Academy (which provides courses like time management, public speaking,
presentation skills and personal branding to young students in Brasov) .
As I am only 18, the Community E.R. is my first big venture which emphasized my entreprenuer skills and
abilities to coordinate a large group of people, but I definitely like what I am doing. I love organizing
events and working with my team in creating brand new activities for our full of life volunteers.
As I am completing my silver level, my activity is monitored by my Duke of Edinburgh International
Award leader which evaluates my progress in sport, abilities and volunteering.
As meeting new people became my hobby, this experience is the best opportunity to get to know other
changemakers, share experiences and gaining new and valuable friends. I would love to learn more
about every culture and then teach others everythin I know about the fascinating and mysterious
Romanian culture.
Regarding the venture I lead, international volunteers are more than welcome to join as, as well as I
would be glad to participate or to help others in developing their own big project.
Each opinion counts in building a great "adventure" in social entrepreneurship and I expect
changemakerXchange to bring together the most enthusiastic young people in order to create better
and better projects.
